In July I will travel to Alsace for 6 days / 7 nights.
I think it is best to base in Colmar and rent a car to visit the nearby villages and go to Strasbourg where I will take the return flight.
I would like to visit the Black Forest.
I appreciate suggestions to the following questions:
- How many days should I devote to Colmar Wine Route?
- Give time to go to Freiburg, Lake Titisee and Triberg in the Black Forest?
- The roads will be safe in the Black Forest? The distances are short, but travel times indicated on Google Maps are too long for short distances indicate.
- How many days should I stay in Strasbourg?
I am very grateful for your suggestions.
Thanks very much
Hope you are having a great time ☺️☺️
I was thinking of visiting Colmar in France. I would like to gather some basic info like the best time to visit there and some good guesthouses to stay.
Appreciate your help in advance ☺️☺️
Tried several. In France all were bought at LeClerc + Auchan + Norma + Aldi.
In Germany from a local farm.
Not sure why, but my Alsatian wine experiments weren't as successful as "farm experiments" in Germany.
Maybe because I should compare apples with apples and not with (sour) grape?
I.e. buy the wine from a farm?
Had a similar experiment few month ago in Hungary (Auchan Hungary wine versus farmer).
It was a day and night difference.
Hello! The Strasbourg Christmas markets' opening day for 2015 is listed as Friday, November 27th. I can't find the actual hours of operation of the markets anywhere. Does anyone know what TIME the markets will be open for business on opening day? Do they open in the morning or is there some sort of big ceremony to officially open the markets in the evening? Thanks for your help!
We'll be in France in mid to late August. Will it be very hot, or is it generally cooler in the wine route areas?
Thanks very much.
I'm currently staying in Strasbourg and I'd like to go to the Outlets in Metzingen to profit from the summer sales. I don't have a car though so I'd like to know which is the best way to get there for like a day and then come back.
With a quick google search I found this company (http://shopping-shuttle.eu/) that seems to do something similar to what I want but I don't know if people can advise me, or tell me if they know this Shopping Shuttle
As you walk towards Little France ( from ? NW) and just before the half timbered houses begin there is a vegetarian olde worlde cafe. There were pictures of some famous writers on the wall of the stairway leading to an upper floor. Apparently some rich benefactor had put forward money for a writers club to have its meetings there. I think this was in the 1800s or early 1900s but could be earlier. I can't remember the name of the place or the full history. Anyone help?
My boyfriend and I will be travelling to Alsace region in the last week of November. We will be training from Paris to Strasbourg or Colmar, and work our way north or south. The places that we hope to visit are Strasbourg, Colmar, Villages (Eguisheim, Riquewihr, Kayersberg, Turckheim), Europa-Park and Frieburg. We have about 10 days, and will be renting a car from Strasbourg or Colmar (depending where we arrive from).
Our current itinerary is as follows:
Day 1: Paris-Strasbourg (Arrive in noon)
Day 2: Strasbourg
Day 3: Strasbourg-Rust(Europa-park), arrive in the evening
Day 4: Europa-Park
Day 5: Rust-Frieburg (Arrive in noon)
Day 6: Freiburg-Kayersberg/Turckheim (Arrive in evening)
Day 7/8/9: Explore Egusheim, Colmar, Riquewihr
Day 10: Colmar-Paris
Will the above plan be ok?
Also, will Kayersberg or Turckheim make a better base from Day 6-10? We are looking for a place hat is less touristy, has several restaurans and a market/grocery store nearby so that we can cook, and with friendly neighbours of course!
Thank you very much!
Can anybody provide me info on working hours of Église Saint-Pierre-le-Vieux or Church of Saint Peter the Old in Strasbpurg? Thank you in advance. Oleg
We'll be in Strasbourg early May for about two days and would like really like to take the time to explore the city and experience the local cuisine! Which restaurants would be great for us to visit, and what meals/drinks should be tried while in Strasbourg?
Hi! I plan to trip in Alsace on May, in Colmar i want to rent a scooter for trip to Eguisheim - Kaysersberg - Riquewihr. Tell me please, where could i rent it? maybe adress or web-site ;-)
We plan on doing a daytrip by bike from Colmar to Riquewihr by bike. Would the route be doable for a 9 year old?
My wife and I will be spending the month of September, 2015 in Strasbourg, France. Can someone please supply me with information on a day-long/part-of-a-day cooking class in Strasbourg specializing in French or Alsatian food. Thanks in advance.
We'll be staying here on a Sunday evening after arriving from elsewhere. I've been reading some reviews of other places, some of which mention no restaurants were open on a Sunday. Is that true of Obernai as well?
Thanks very much.
I was just in Strasbourg last week at the Christmas markets. I purchased some items at the Cathedral Market at a vendor right by the tourist information shop. I want more from this vendor, but she didn't speak English and I paid with cash. Have tried the Strasbourg tourist dept and got no where.
Does anyone have any ideas or know of a shopper for hire (in the US, we would call them personal shoppers) ? thanks
Hi, my husband and I will be in Colmar over Christmas and we are unable to book for Christmas lunch. We will buy at the markets if that is possible but are supermarkets also open for some hours? Thank you.
Could someone please recommend a medium priced restaurant that could accommodate 26 people (24 are college students) for dinner. Thanks.
I want to find somewhere nice for my husband and me - 2 'old' Aussies, thousands of kilometres away from our family - to have Christmas lunch or dinner in Colmar.
I would like to ask what do you guys recommend how many days should me and my friend stay in Strasbourg? Please do let us know, because we are now struggling to choose between Strasbourg and Annecy.
I have a plan to travel from Paris to Colmar via Strassbourg and stay one night at Colmar. Could anyone recommend the best route to get there? I will take a train from Paris to Strassbourg, and then direct to Colmar.
1. Should I travel by Bus or train from Strassbourg to Colmar? Which one is better in terms of budget and time wise?
2. If I choose the bus, Where can I find the bus timetable and fair?
3. For return trip, which one between bus and train is the best to return to Paris in late afternoon? Do I need to take the train to Strassbourg and then take the train to Paris? Or any direct bus or train to Paris with lowest cost?
Thank you for your kind assistance.
I plan to travel from Freiburg to Colmar. Is there a direct train and must we buy in advance? What is estimated fare and how long does it take? Thank you.
How can ı gö from colmar to rottenburg germany
i am going to live in Strasbourg for a while as a foreign student. I would like to know which is the best and safer neighborhood to live there.
thanks a lot!
What public transportation is available from the Strasbourg train station to Rosenwiller
where do passengers wait between trains after midnight and before 5AM
Hello! I am visiting the museum and former camp at Struthof, as part of my research about the interplay of collective memory and war museums. I am very excited about this visit, as I have heard the site is a must-see, but am finding the logistics difficult.
After talking to the local tourism office, I've decided to take an early-morning train to Rothau. From there, my plan is to walk to the camp. The tourism office gave me some instructions about which hiking paths to take, but I was wondering if anyone here had any advice. I am ready for a long, relatively difficult walk, but just don't want to get lost out in the woods. (I know I said "I never want to leave Alsace..." but I didn't mean it that way!)
i would to ask if someone knows abou the shops and all the other stuffs museums and etc are openning in sundays.thank you
We arrive in Strasbourg by train at 11am on a Tuesday from spending 8 nights in Paris. First time visitors to France. We wont have a car. What can we see and do in 2 days in early August in Strasbourg? Are there 1 day cruises up the Rhine? Can we cross into Germany easily by bus to a quaint little town, or would you say that Strasbourg is very similar to boarder towns - maybe even prettier? We will of course walk around Le Petitte France and take a water cruise around the island.
The day we leave Strasbourg, we pick up a car and drive to Colmar for 3 nights. What can we see and do along the way to Colmar ?
We are planning to travel from Laglio, in Lake Como district, to Colmar in France. We were hoping to travel there through the Swiss Alps, rather than travelling through the French countryside. We are booked into Colmar the same afternoon/evening that we depart Laglio so cannot stop along the way but would love a scenic trip. Any ideas?
With thanks, D. and J.
