Posting a word doc

by into-thin-air Online Now Jul 18, 2012 at 5:29 AM

I have been sent a word-doc in the form of a table from my friend in Nepal – It has all the updated prices for entrance fees into the national parks, for Nepali’s SAAC and westerners so would be useful info to add to my Nepal Travel Tips. The trouble is if I copy and paste, it all comes out messed up as the info falls out of the various columns and boxes Any Ideas Thanks Rob

Open the document. Go to "Edit" Click on Select all. Go back into "Edit" Select Copy. Right click on one of the boxes in the document. If you see "save as a picture" click on this and save it. In some cases the image is not as good as the original but if it is just text, it should be fine.

    1. I am using Microsoft Office Word 2007. 2. Open the .doc file containing the table. 3. Select (or highlight) the table you want to convert to text. 4. The Design and Layout Tab appears on the right most top side of your ribbon, next to the View tab. (These two tabs are not visible during normal word processing). 5. Click Layout. 6. The Data group appears on the right most top side of your ribbon. 7. Click Convert to Text. 8. In the next window, select the separator you want. 9. Viola! It’s done. Thanks for the hints – I tried both ideas and the boxes mentioned didn’t appear – So I did a Control – Alt – Print Screen and then resized the image in photo shop and posted it It’s not idea but at least the info is up there "Latest prices for National Park Entry" - Nepal Favorite Tip by into-thin-air Thanks and Best Regards Rob

After visiting your link, I now understand that you want the boxes (tables and columns) to appear on your tip. I thought you wanted only the data and not the vertical and horizontal lines. Please could you VT email me that table of yours? I'd like to play around with it and see how best the lines can be retained.

VTML is the language that VT uses to build tips...there is no table command in VTML, so there is no way (unless the VT demi-gods are holding out on me) to convert a table in Word to a table in VTML...sorry, you have to build it yourself with lines and stuff, or use a photo as the others suggested...
