Poor Beaumarchais has just had his head chopped off at the bottom of my Paris intro page, a fate he avoided (just barely) in real life. Isn't there any other way these photos could be displayed so we don't keep losing people's heads?
post the picture upside down?

Hi Don I presume that you're talking about the format where side photos are cropped so that you have to click on the photo to expand it? If so, then I second your concern. This cropping often results in the deletion of critical detail (as in the case of the unfortunate Beaumarchais) and I simply don't see the value of this format. Can the techies perhaps elaborate on why the template was developed like this, as often it so educes the impact of the photo that it's hardly worth them being there? Regards Cathy

No, I was talking about the place at the bottom of the destination intro page where the four newest tips are displayed. There they have chosen a format that crops off the tops and bottoms of the photos.

Oh, yes I see what you mean: seems like it is another symptom of the same decision to crop photos. In the case you're highlighting, I presume that it can't be expanded to show the full content by clicking on it, which is even worse.

In this case, if you click on the cropped photo you are taken to the original tip, with the full photo.

LOL - great headline there, Don. :O) Yep, this topic has come up many, many times. We have 4 formats: expanded landscape (like the one you describe); traditional landscape; square; traditional portrait. It's impossible to find a photo that works well in all of these formats and the only time they can viewed in the format taken (without clicking) is on the top of our main intro pages or as the main photo of a review within our own pages. Landscape seems to be the best option wherever possible but as hard as I try to remember to take the majority of my VT shots that way, there are just too many things/places that require portrait format. And landscape shots are still funky when shown in extended landscape boxes at the bottom of a destination page (newest reviews). Tiny square? I give up. Those really bother me as they're not engaging for new members cruising the main destination pages. Yeah, I know - the subject has been flogged to death but if there is ever an opportunity...
