Does it have a glitch? I have the feeling that spammies stay longer these days although many of us have reported them (given the many comments on spammies' homepages).
Ingrid - I suspect it may be the time zone thing - particularly at weekends and US Holidays, but I agree about the time delay in some cases.

Sometimes they do seem to stay around a bit longer, but as Barbara notes it's mostly at certain times of day and week. A timezone + staffing matter, I think. But they all go eventually! :-)

Thanks girls :-) I thought it might be in context to the actual glitches which followed the updates. Erm... what again were the updates?

Complicated ones which involved page coding. I think..... :-)

I don't think that the spammers stay longer at all these days. usually only in a few time windows they might stay a little longer or in a period where we might have a few less eyes on things because of vacations etc...but otherwise, there are actually a lot more that never even see the light of day - they are automatically deleted :)

Thanks G :-) So my observation (with a very persistent spammie) was in the specific time window I'd say.

Yeah, probably and I was gone for the last 6 days so that may have contributed!

I have wondered how on earth you manage the time zone thing unless you have a Team working night shifts. I think I have usually "felt" some stay longer on Sat.& Sun. mornings - say 10am - 1pm -ish here - which 8 hours ahead of California time. Good to know some are picked up automatically.

Haha, and then there is soccer.... football.... Barbara, I think many of the young chicks (NOT meant negative) love to work night shifts. When I was young (hahahaha...) I also did all my studies in the night when everything was so quiet outside.

I'd been wondering the same thing - it's good to know you're hot on the case as ever G :-) It's also struck me in the last week or so that there seem to be more of them again, after a dip when you implemented some change to reduce the numbers. Is it a bit like antibiotics - they work for a while, then the b*gg*rs find a way round and are as troublesome as ever, lol?

Well it's always a moving target, right? You figure them out and remove them. Then they adjust. Then you adjust. Always a pitched battle. We have state of the art, expenisve spam filters on all email coming into VT work email and yet, I'd say 90% of the mail that comes into feedback is spam.

G, can you please have this one removed: VirtualTourist.com It feels like it is around for ages and it also seems that many of us have reported it, given the comments. Thanks in advance Ingrid

Oh, indeed :-) July 4th, says my calendar :-) The guys are on the beach celebrating. And maybe no one has mobile devices to send this spammie to hell.

Hmmm. Sorry we were bbqing and beaching. There's a new crop that seems to be causing some issues. We'll see what we can do.

And Abergavenny - but it defied the forecast and turned out well today. Hope MeteoFrance has got it wrong for where we land up on Saturday - Torrential rain and violent storms !InFrench it sounds more interesting. I'll miss Wimbledon but hope it stays fine for the Tennis ... and a win for Andy!

And no giant hailstones, such as those I have recently encountered. All relevant bits are crossed, G! :-)
