Has anyone noticed something odd at the top of the VT Mail page - or is it my computer? (no other problems noticed) Across the top of the page there are 6 pale grey rectangular shapes. Top left hand side of page says - Share your Travel! Upload Photos Build a Page Post a Video etc etc
Looks like an update to the HTML that missed retracting a drop down box. Or the update is still repicating across the various servers.

Not on my computer - with VT mail. But I noticed something else which looks strange: dashboard looks strange at the top. I was used to having my photo left hand side and directly next to it the grey box with the flag contest information (others might have the top contributors per week). This grey box is now still there, but shifted to a lower position. As if the photo is in one "template/box" line and the grey box in one below. Ingrid

Yes my dashboard looks the same. Probably a similar formatting change.

Oh good - I am not alone and it is not my computer :-)

Yes - Dashboard a goner too! Al. thanks for answering my first post here - I'll try a google translation but not optimistic! And I'll try to do something to improve on "Cardiff!" :))

My dashboard has also suffered slippage. Barbara, I have blue tabs across the top of Vtmail and a bright green 'share your travels' tab. Perhaps yours will change colour when the server itself catches up?

Barbara, ROTFL... sorry for the technospeak. The "code" that causes web pages to display the way they do has to be fully (hmmmm) integrated with all the pages that get changes in order for a web site to display properly. If one small "dot" is omitted, strange things happen to the pages. This code is called HTML in web page language. This is a "mark up language" that causes text and pictures to appear in certain places on each page. Some of the commands used cause "menus" to "drop down" when the cursor is held over that part of the page (AKA hover or mouseover). On the mail page it appears the mouseover is stuck in the "drop down" position and the menu does not retract. ;-)

For over 40 years whenever my mother was asked what I did for a living she responded with my description to her: I manage and play with computers, and paid very well for playing well. (LOL)

Al - I suspect you do a little more than play with computers:) VT Mail page still looking strange but the problem I reported later on yesterday re Member Lists is fixed.

Wow! Thanks for catching these. It looks like everyone is seeing the dashboard slippage. The text you're seeing is supposed to be in the Share Your Travels menu item that is on (almost) every page. It looks like our last release juggled some settings on the older pages and didn't put them back where they belong. A ticket has been entered to fix this. Hope now you know about it that it will soon be corrected! Not a major problem more of an irritant, particularly when composing mail:)

When did you start seeing this? And what version of IE are you using? Nate

Very soon before I first posted and started this thread - easy to check my UK time above and then check against your time zone. I am using IE 9 on this computer; IE 8 on my Netbook where there is the same problem.

I'm using IE9 as well. I've tried using the compatibility setting but that just messes up other things.

Nate, Same answer here. It's the Compatibility setting of IE. It seems to only show up on the Forums page. Home, Travel Guides, Hotels, etc do not show the icon on the URL bar of IE9. But by clicking on it, both the VT Mail drop down issue and the Meet Members photo line or 5 across VS 4+1 are "fixes." Maybe a bit of page linking didn't occur completely before the pages were loaded? That used to happen with me all the time in Dreamweaver.

Al, if I understand you correctly, you were not able to recreate the glitch. It's a tricky one to force, because it's located in a file that the servers send only to IE7. If you load vtmail from IE8 or IE9, the file doesn't get sent. This is why toggling document mode doesn't reveal it. Try toggling browser mode instead if you can. However, IE8 and IE9 will get the IE7 file if Compatibility View is turned on when the vtmail page is loaded. In this case, toggling compatibility mode won't make the glitch disappear because it's not the result of any IE7 specific bugs or hacks. So, THE SOLUTION: Open "Compatibility View Settings" -- found in the Tools menu -- and uncheck "Display all websites in Compatibility View" and/or remove VT from the list of sites set to use Compatibility View. If neither is set, then show the Developer Tools by hitting F12 or selecting them from the Tools menu. In the Developer Tools menu, you should see "Browser Mode: IE7" and "Document Mode: IE7". Click on Browser Mode and select "Internet Explorer 8". This will reset browser and document modes. You can hide the Developer Tools by hitting F12 again. This should fix it for IE8 and IE9. As for IE7, we have a fix in the works. Hope this helps. Nate

Nate, I can recreate the "issue" at will. I just toggle the Compatibility icon from the Froums page. I don't see the icon from any of the other pages that I've tried thus far. So I just go to Forums, toggle the icon, then go to the page that had the "issue" and voila, it's back. In the case of the Members photos I go from 5 across to the 4 then 1 then 4 then 1 format. Al

For some reason the compatibility button wasn't working right for me. I wonder if it's because I had the developer tools open.
