I'm sorry for becoming a pest here folks but my recent trawling through my own pages and others is throwing up a few little bits and pieces. This is another one for the techs and of no great consequence so no need to deal with it in any hurry. I was reading the pages of member Mique (Sandra) here. "On the road....still (but temperarily settled)" - Mique's Profile A bit down the page there is an entry about VT meetings with hyperlinks to various places she has been. When I click on the London link I am taken to a page prompting me to edit my own London page here members.virtualtourist.com/m... As I say, this is of no consequence whatsoever but it may indicate some sort of larger problem in the system and I thought I'd point it out.
Might “Mique” should modify the hyperlink to be addressed to members.virtualtourist.com/m... “her London page” this address ("On the road....still (but temperarily settled)" - Mique's Profile exist any more

Fergy, I am taken to *my* London page by that link. It may not be a glitch as such. I think Sandra may have inadvertently put the wrong code into the hyperlink (possibly the link for her own London page in 'edit' mode?). Might be worth dropping her a line and asking her to check?

Thanks guys, as you know I have not the faintest idea about the system. I'll drop Sandra a line and hopefully all will be sorted.

"Home to planxty (and many other things besides)!" - London by planxty “fergy” "I seem to be visiting more often these days..." - London by leics “leics” members.virtualtourist.com/m... “Mique” so she just miss “4b7ec” :)

I'm afraid the page address in 'edit' mode is not the same as the links you have posted.

Sorry folks, it could be my well-known incompetence or something real but I know it was doing that thing. I checked it three times, having made ridiculous comments before regarding the system.

Nothing to be sorry about. It does the same for me. We cannot access Sandra's London page in edit mode (and I think that may be the url she has used in her hyperlink) so I think (only think) that the site automatically re-directs us to our own London pages in edit mode. S.VTM does not have a London page so I would be interested to know what he sees when he clicks that link.

Yes “leics” good point that’s what I get from the link "On the road....still (but temperarily settled)" - Mique's Profile ------------------------------------------------------------ The System detected an Error: 404 Data not available but when I try with the link "A couple of great days in London" - London by Mique it works fine

Sorry guys, and I reiterate I have no technical knowledge but these were links I cut and pasted so must have been valid at some point.

S.VTM, I think you are confused. If we click the London link on members.virtualtourist.com/m... (Mique's profile page) we get our own edit mode London page, you get a 'page not found'. "A couple of great days in London" - London by Mique is Mique's London page and yes, that's fine. I am pretty sure that the problem is as I decribed above: the url in the hyperlink on the profile page is for the member's London page *in edit mode* (which is an entirely different url to the 'normal' London page). That's why Planxty and I get our London pages in edit mode, and why you S.VTM get 'page not found'. This is something I have accidentally done myself, on occasion. The url for a page in edit mode is not the same as the url for that page when it is visible to the public.

Yup, clicking on Sandra's London hyperlink brings me to the edit page of my own (now ancient and utterly useless) London chapter. Weird.

Fergy, your point is entirely valid. I'm sure Sandra will be able to sort it out by checking the url in her London hyperlink.
