On the off-chance that a UK member would know..... I am trying to configure my wife's email to work on her new Iphone 3GS. I can get the MAIN user account to work on MY Ipod, but her address is a sub-address of the main one. e.g MINE is xxxxx@blueyonder.co.uk but hers is xxxxx_3@blueyonder.co.uk. I have done all the IMAP/POP3/SMTP and port settings as per the online help, but can't get the Iphone to work. "You have entered the wrong username/password for this new account" Blueyonder mail is now linked to Googlemail I believe - looks and feels the same. Gmails work fine.
May be you need to type the URL addr. of the Web mail service Sometimes typed like below ,,, https://webmail.blueyonder.co.uk. 1st username & password 2nd domain name will be blueyonder.co.uk. I hope that helpful ,,, wish luck

Hi - thanks - no there is a definite set-up route on the Iphone which needs to be followed plus some settings on Blueyonder that have to be made (enable IMAP4 for example) Not to worry.

John, Does iPhone not recognize the Blueyonder site like it does with gmail, yahoo, etc? I've only set up both of those iPhones over here in the US and on a couple of occasions I had to do it twice, watching exactly what I thought I correctly typed. I've also found that for SMTP you can't always use "use same login as POP" as you can in Outlook. I'm assuming you are using the "mail" function of the iPhone to set up. for yahoo I had to id it as primary but also list it in Other as smtp.att.yahoo.com.

Thanks - I think I tried similar with this - but I DID get my main account to work. The problem seems to lie with the fact that my wife's account is a sub-address of my main one. I note that I can't get her email through the ISPs web mail facility either, although I can get it via (eg) Mail2Web.com.

Hmm.. sub accounts don't seem to be impacted with yahoo or my company ISP, but perhaps there is something done differently with yours.

Thanks to everyone who responded. I have it sorted now - Endlessly fiddling with settings and I found an obscure reference to a port number that needed to be changed. Suddenly it all clicked into place! What a palava!
