I would like todownload my own photos from VT to my computer because I've lost them. But I save them they are very small in size. Is it possible to do something?
When photos are "uploaded" to VT they are reduced in size in order to manage the amount of space the web site takes on the server disks. There are interpolation algorythms that will help enlarge photos, but it will never get the photo back to the original size as it came from the camera. Sorry for your loss, but for the future I'd recommend purchasing a backup drive that is separate from the computer where you store photos, such that you have a backup of your photos. Large USB drives are relatively inexpensive these days and much easier to use than burning CD/DVD backups.

When you want to 'save as' the photos on VT you must enlarge them first...in VT You have the + button to do this. Then 'save as' the larger version not the small one Some may not enlarge but most of mine will.

I just checked your personal page album....some enlarge OK....'summer' will not. If it is not your own personal photo it may not enlarge. The family scene will enlarge with the + button. So that is better than a 'thumb nail'

VT stores pictures in different formats that all are accessable. The URL of the biggest format should be cache.virtualtourist.com/6/x... as far as I know. Use that to make your local copies. PJ

The photos are stored at the cache URL, but they are not of a suficient size to work with outside of VT. Even the "large" versions are barely 600x400 which is great for a web site, but not for printing a quality 8x10 photograph. That said, you can save your photos and at least have a copy of the ones you lost.

1. By "lost" do your mean you have delected your photos accidentally? If so, VT member @pieter_jan_v introduced me to a nifty file recovery program called, 'Recova'. In case you wish to download, the link is here: http://www.piriform.com/recuva Before you download and install, do read the precautions you need to take regarding overwriting your deleted data. 2. In case you cannot find your photos, you may recover them using the methods outlined by VT members above. Thereafter, to partially restore your photos to their pristine state, you may consider using 'Photoshop' or ask the studio to do it for you. 3. Henceforth, you may like to opt for an external hard disk to store all your data as a backup. Goodluck!
