As I have said before I don’t like the new lists of members. Before I could look at the list of new members, click on a member and then go back to where I was in the list with the arrow, and continue to scroll down the list. Now I have noticed that only the members joined during the last 24h can be seen (which I think is too little). Another thing is that if you click on view 100 more, then on a member and then go back to the list you will automatically come to the list of the first 1 - 100 members. That means you need to click on view 100 more another time to come back to where you were in the list. I don’t think that is an improvement? What do you think? Another problem I have is that it takes ages for each page in the new lists to load, but I guess that is because I have a computer that is too old.
When you click on "100 more" etc, the list just adds to what you already see. so in fact you are now viewing 200 on the list (not page 2). I think this is why the back button takes you back to the first 100. You need to scroll up to get back to where you were. This may not be satisfactory, I don't know. My list populates quite quickly so you may be correct about your computer being the issue there. I would also like to see more members on this list.

I too have the same problem When I click back after looking at a new members profile it takes three times as long as it used to do to get back to the new members list. Pain in the butt I'm sorry to say.

I'll have to investigate this one as it sounds like Java programing gone mad. (LOL) New "web programing" by inexperience programmers that were not even born when the "net" was invented tend to do things the way they think and see things which is not always how the Internte IETF RULES were meant to be interpreted but that's how things are ending up... We just have to adapt and move on...

Perhaps it would help the VT staff if we had a "requirements definition" web page for suggestions to go into how the various members would like to see a page operate. I'd actually not been on the New Members page in quite a while but I found the pages to load quite quickly (and I'm currently in Mexico with a very slow connection). The navigation of the pages does appear to have some "quirks" that I'd like to see fixed, but as I understand it, this is a work in progress.

Sorry folks, we bolted on the new members lists as a side affect of another problem, and raced through getting them out in the mix. Some fixes coming out on Monday to this list, but we'll take another pass at it in the weeks/months ahead. As always appreciate the feedback. Yes the new member pages are on the order of 50% faster than they were prior to the release last Fall, and we are using some of those same techniques throughout the site, but moving fast sometimes leads to not quite getting it right the first time.

Ok, Not sure we got everything you wanted, but we took another swing at it. Take a look now. We are trying to find the balance between fast and the data you want, but this looks good to me. BTW the pages are pretty fast to download, so your experience of it taking ages to load may be a function of your Internet Service provider or your machine. There are a lot more photos in the way we display it today vs how we used to, but they are small photos. -T

That is much better, that you have a list of members joined the last seven days, but there is still something that should be fixed. Now you see a list of 100 members and then you can click on View 100 more. Let’s say I click on View 100 more three times and get a list of 400 members. If I then click on one new member and then return to the list I will just see the 100 first in the list. That means I need to click on View 100 more three more times to get back to where I was in the list. Before you could easily look at a new members page, return to where you were in the list and then look at the next member. It is my computer that is slow. This morning I used another computer and it was super fast.

So what I am understanding, is that really you are iterating (going through) the list of new members and messaging, rating, or reading etc.... and when you return to the list you don't want to have to start over. Definitely something for us to think more about. No promises in the short term. -T

Whenever I come to a list of members, like on our site, or like when I search for someone on facebook, and I know I am going to come back to the list, I RIGHT CLICK on the member and open the profile in a new tab. That way, the member list page is never changed.

I didn't know it was posible to right click on the member to open the profile in a new tab. So I just tried it and it worked very well. That's a good solution to the problem.
