You could write to Feedback, tell them where it is in Full - Verbania, Piedmont, Italy/ and ask for it to be added to the database. A VT staffer (real name Barbara -can't quite remember her VT name, something like bvizzle) was very helpful in sorting out a request I made a couple of months ago.

My memory has not quite gone - yet! - the name to contact is bvizzle12 Hope she can help.

We know it's missing. I know the town. I've been there on several occasions. I have added it to the database, it will be live tomorrow. You'll be able to add it from Your Travel Pages search look up. You won't be able to find it on the regular search until you create a page for it. (then 24 hrs after that it will be searchable as other locations)

I have nothing to add to this technically but it just struck me as being so typically VT. A mamber has a problem and posts it here. The GM says sorry, the staffer that normally does this is away travelling (no surprise there then) but I'll have a go at fixing it, and then does. Is it really any wonder we love this place?

Yes, it is great that the staff is concerned enough with its members to take things into their own hands. Just started my Verbania page. Quick question, brain freeze on my part. How do I add photos to photo albums? Need to do this or I will be waiting forever for all the pictures my wife and I took.

Your photo library? Green button at the top...upload photos. You can drag and drop them into albums

Timed out again after 4 of 11 photos this time. That's a little annoying. I'll have to try later this afternoon. Wonder if anyone else is having this problem?

How huge are the photos and how slow is your connection?

I'm not sure of the connection speed. It is my home computer and I've got about the middle of the road service for speed, however fast that is. I know the photo files are rather large as the first group of pictures I tried to unload were from my wife's camera which are anywhere from 2 to 5 MB each.

That's pretty huge, but you should be able to do it...Your download speed at home is probably pretty good, but your upload speed can be terrible on a home connection. I'm still go for it....

I'll try some of my pictures from my camera which are a lot smaller next. No big deal, just know I'll limit my wife's to 4 at a time.

This whole question makes me wonder about the age of the data in the database. In the thread that Pam referred to above, G said "If you look at places like Pallanza or Intra and then check nearby destinations for Verbania, you don't see it." But the town's website says Verbania was created in 1939 from the union of Intra and Pallanza - "Nata nel 1939 dall’unificazione dei preesistenti Comuni di Intra e Pallanza e relative frazioni..." There are a few random spots that don't make it into the database, just for some error or omission in it's creation. I don't think it was intentional or based on policy or a reflection of the date of the info.

The database is a huge improvement on what we used to have.

That said, there are some hilarious and intersting anomalies in the database that I found amusing when we first starting looking at the data. For example...we couldn't find La Coruña also known as A Coruña or Corunna in English was listed as The Groyne!!!! Hilarious And we absolutely could not find Bukhara, because it was translated into Russian and then transliterated from Cyrillic into Roman alphabet. It came out as Buxoro!!!! :)
