Is there any way to opt out of a posting thread? Sometimes I answer a post and then subsequent posters go on and on, diverting and waffling from the original question and the whole post becomes irrelevant to the original post - clutters up my notices box......

Not at the moment, but the forums are being rebuilt at the moment and that option has been promised to us.

Anxiously awaiting that moment as well but, luckily, as has been promised for the last 2 years...improvements are coming. I've noticed a tendency lately of the question having been answered once-twice-three and four times and then the thread becomes more of a blog of experiences and idle chit chat. I'm in two now which I am at the point of telling them to please take it to misc. rather than the travel forum. It makes one think twice about becoming involved in answering posts!

Yes, and mindful of the danger of going off-post in this post, when you (i.e. one) do suggest either ending or transferring the post, boy, do people get huffy!!
