Can't find a destination I want to add to Travel Pages

by mikegr Online Now Feb 20, 2006 at 1:42 PM

Hello - I wanted to add Las Grutas (Rio Negro - Argentina) to my travel pages but apparently it doesn't exist. It should do, as it is a sizeable town - very popular with Argentinian holiday makers (though not international visitors). Can anyone help me track it down - or suggest what to do? Thanks in anticipation - Mike

It's not in the list indeed. You could either use the nearby town of "San Antonio Oeste", or add you're tips to the province Rio Negro. I doubt VT is going to add places like this to the database ... Regards, M.

With Google translating a page on Las Grutas (which I gather means "The Grottos" it says "The bath the Grottos and San Antonio the West are hardly in the patagónico northeast, separated by 15 kilometers to each other. Within the Atlantic zone of the province of Negro River, both are bathed by warm and blue waters of the gulf San Matía" Now I don't know that this translation via Google sounds very accurate ("hardly" doesn't seem to compute) but it does look like they are very close together. Another web page says: "Las Grutas is a beach resort located in the Atlantic coast of the province of Río Negro, only 15 Km. from San Antonio Oeste, district it belongs to. Its history is a short one..." VT tends not to have places that don't have post office destinations. It is possible for it to be put into the database - write feedback with all the specifics - giving the GPS coordinates if possible - but it won't be quick. So while you are waiting, you can use San Antonio Oeste, and then if or when it is added, you can just move the whole page over to the new location with one click of the mouse.

It will take month if not years for technical reasons. I have asked for a few new places to be added in the location database in december 2004...

Thanks everyone. It was a genuine surprise to find that Las Gruttas is not listed . It is a fairly big place with 5 campsites on the main street as well as a large number of hotels.... its a popular place (at least with Argentinians)and it DEFINITELY has a post office. I would love to make a Las Grutas page (eventually) but it sounds like a bit of a trial to go about getting it added..... where can I get GPS coordinates from? Mike
