Sad news today ...Butch the Bulldog has gone onwards to eternal sleep...the vet came for 3 days in a row and today we decided together that there was no more to try for Butch..he had simply had enough....his heart and kidneys were failing and his Bulldog spark had simply gone out... R I P Butchie boy K.
Oh Kirsty, my sincere symathy for you!! He'll be in dog's heaven, maybe even meeting our own Lyssia who went there years ago. Hugs!!!
Awwww...so sorry:( Glad we got to meet him before he went. RIP poor doggie
Am I right with that this is the second dog you loose this year? Awful. PJ
I am sorry for you Kristi. A pet become part of the family after some time. I can imagine how you feel, even if I don't have pets.
Sorry Kristi. It's hard to lose a beloved pet. At least you were able to give him a good life these last years.
Deepest condolences to you on your best mate's passing. It's so sad words cannot explain. Sure memories of the past few days are the freshest but soon the good great ones will surface as well. You know he is in a better place free from pain and suffering. Now running free again. To hold on to him will be unwise and am glad it was a communal decision not just yours to make. It's a hard decision still to let him go. I feel your sadness and loss.Hope you will be better with time. Take care and a big hugs!
Anybody who's lost a dear pet knows exactly how you feel.
Thanks all... Yes PJ you are unfortunately right ...Bob the Baint Bernard went to The Rainbow Bridge too just a while back ( She got Ill during Euromeet in fact) And since I have another dog who is 15 and has skin cancer it will happen again all too soon ...I also have 2 dogs who are 12 and another Bulldog who is almost 10...the Reaper will have a fine time with me..wont he?...but the price we must pay for a dogs unconditional love is high...Ill keep on paying...the rewards of giving these dogs a home for the rest of thier lives outweighs anything
Awwwww. I know how big a part of the family your dogs are so I'm sure it's a sad day for all at your house. But I also know how well you take care of your four-legged friends so comfort yourself with the happy, happy life your Butch had. You did the right thing; a truly caring owner never lets their animals suffer no matter how hard it is to let go. Good for you.
Awwwwwwwwww Kirsty,a big hug coming your way from me ((((((())))))) Your love and care for rescued dogs is just heartwarming and also heartbreaking when they pass on.Not many people want to take in older animals usually with ailments. Thank you for your unconditional love to Butch and your other dogs. xxx D
R I P Butchie Hard to do but we have to do it when an animal has no quality of life anymore . Hansi
Our beloved pets will always have a place in our hearts forever. When I get to the rainbow bridge I hope to see and catch up with all my animal family and friends. I truly hope that is part of the package. I am sure we will have loads of fun again.
Let's make sure we get to the right bridge to be reunited with our loved ones. That's a reward in itself. Lovely pics of your family Shezz. All of them are adorable darlings :0)
Thanks again everyone...so kind of you all to share with me in my moment of pain... Of course the light of a new day assures me I have dont the right thing and since I also have 2 much younger dogs as well who are still gambolling about and playing and making me smile....life goes on
Aw bless You did the only thing you could do and I am sure Butch would thank you for putting out of pain - It is sad - like losing one of the family IMHO - {{{{{{Hugs}}}}}}}] Julie
I know you will miss Butch, just as you miss Bob/Kate. I still miss my Sparks so much. The younger ones will truly lift your spirits as they chase and tussle. Perhaps another rescue dog will come into your life to take the pain away. The sight of Mickie chasing Molly and pulling her tail and she can't turn round and bite him because her mouth is full of biscuits always raises a smile. Here's to more raspberry paws.
I'm sorry to hear that Kirsty. It's never easy, though ours is only 2 I can't help thinking about the worst when he does something silly and get teary eyed! Stupid I know when he's still a puppy but they do hold such a large part of our hearts and our lives and are such characters. I'm glad you have the youngsters to help you get through.
No more dogs for me Sue I am afraid...Thr rules were made a LONG long time ago...the 2 younger ones actually belong to my daughters (18th birthday presents for them both) ...my 4 are all old now and I wont be 'replacing' them...in 5 more years the youngest child will ask for a Great Dane puppy though I am sure
Sorry to hear the sad news, you are in my thoughts adele
It's even worse with a Great Dane! They live such short lives and so do old english sheepdogs..... I know people are *breed loyal* in that they tend to choose the same type of dog rather than go for different breeds. I must admit that black poodles are my favourite.
SAVE A "POUNDY" if you need a dog - mines crazy but wouldn't be without her
I met a really lovely girly dog today while shopping..... she was a rescued *poundy*, so very very happy to be part of a family again and bouncing with joy! Nutty spaniel, completely black with white paws. Soft as butter to touch :) she saw me coming and I grinned at her. She recognised a dog lover from about 30 feet away and couldn't wait for a cuddle :))
I certainly dont *need* another dog and all my dogs are poundies or otherwise as you put it...I wont be getting any more I have dont my bit and still have heartache to come... and yes Sue she has been warned about the short lifespan of Danes but she has never been swayed and I respect that
Just as long as you don't have to pay for it with either money or emotions.......
