SPAM went up 200% today with two seperate emails from G asking to congratulate members of the Today's Birthdays list. Should I report this? PJ

BTW Just got a disguised email from a SPAMMER (adedavid145) and VT was very fast in removing that email; I got an error: java.lang.NullPointerException when I tried to go back to it. PJ

Not to get all serious here but I've just gotten a rather disturbing bit of spam in my VT mail. The member's photo is of an American military man (in U.S. Army fatigues) but the text is classic Nigerian-type scam spam: ...Dearest, I will really want to know you more better, maybe knowing an angel is like knowing the best thing in life. Please endeavour to send me a reply as soon as possible, you can add me to your yahoo ID or hotmail ID if you have any of them, my ID is ........ No American serviceperson would ever phrase an email like this. It's bugging me that whomever this is has assumed the identity of someone in our armed forces.

Kate, the posing-as-a-US (sometimes UK)-serviceman is a pretty common bit of spamscam. It's happened for several years. Just another ploy to pull in the gullible, i'm afraid...

*crawls out from under rock* I prolly didn't know about that 'cause I don't belong to any social media sites. Thanks!

No need for stones. I had one on VT some years ago and I've read about others elsewhere. But I seem to get fewer spam mails nowadays, maybe because of time differences: I think they probably do it and get deleted whilst I'm in bed or at work.
