I've often marvelled at how quickly I get responses to questions. I guess that there's a way of alerting members who have an interest in the area I've questioned about. How does this work?
Actually, I believe that an alert system is a part of the new renovations on the site (correct me if I am wrong, somebody...) Most I believe just plug into the destination box on the left side at the top of the forum, whatever region they can advise on. Personally, I run throught the entire forum on a relatively daily basis, as I have information all over the planet, so I find it the easiest way. Once they implement the alert system, I likely will not change my way of monitoring the forum.
agree, many of us just scroll rapid fire down the left side, looking for a place they know about, then read the question to see if it can be answered from their knowledge ( or in some cases not mine their ability with google ).
I just check VT morning, noon and evening to see if i can help out, also i am interested in other peoples views and always check new tips for places i have been and planning to visit. I really enjoy this site.
I also run through the whole forum quick to see if there is something I can answer or something I could be interested to know about a place I never been.
I run through the entire travel forum every day too just to see if there are any questions about places i have been to.
I'm with the others. A quick scroll in the main travel forums and I can tell at a glance if I may be able to contribute something. Obviously, I have not travelled as extensively as guys like Erik, Claus and David etc. but I will tell easily if I know about a place.

Yep, a daily/hourly quick-scroller here too.
Same for me, mostly twice a day (my mornings and evenings). But I only look at the Europe forum. My out-of-Europe trips are too long ago that I can answer questions.
have to agree with everone's "scroll" through the travel forum questions. IF I know something about the question, I answer. Sometimes I just look at answers for places I've not been to , but want to visit. Fun and educational all at once. This VT bunch is GREAT!!!
Zero replies is soooooo tempting :) PJ
I scroll the world forum regularly too when I have some time to kill. I usually focus on more obscure places and off the beaten path spots. Therefore I do contribute to the forums, but not in the same quantity of posts as others. I feel countless others already reply sufficiently to popular destinations or more so that information is out there if people put in a little effort.
