Need you all to keep my mind off of what is happening. My dad is just going in for open heart surgery, quadruple bi-pass. So for the next few hours keep me busy! Argue with me, entertain me.... something please!
All will be well I am sure Did you know that paint does not last 7 years?..I know this because the silver paint I saved from before I opened to use again and its gone sort of thin and watery..it still looks silver and it still smells like paint...but it wont "stick" to the wall...now I have to go ALL the way back to town to buy some more... and the people who write the write ups for paint are born liars apparently...I bought some black paint that says on the tin "covers all surfaces evently and in one coat ..simple and easy to clean from brushes and rollers" This ios more than one lie...for a start the wall is clearly going tio need 2 coats and secondly the roller did not..and will not come clean between coats..there should be someone to complain to about misleading and miswording stuff
They do lie... although sometimes with some paints you can add water to them and still use them. I remember one time the neighbor came over to my dad when we were in WP and said, "I have a paint sprayer. The fence between us needs paint. I will paint my side and you paint your, I will let you use the sprayer." Well we had been in the house for about 15 years at that point and had an array of different colors of paint in the house from different rooms. I still to this day do not believe in putting white paint on walls, it is for renters and institutions. Let's just say Dad started mixing the different paint colors as he went down the fence. First coat was colorful to say the least. There were yellows, greens, blues, pinks and even some purple on that fence.
Lee Ann, the only "minor surgery" is on someone else's body....lol. So we can't say "don't worry about it". HOWEVER, I am at my Dad's house, and have been back and forth now for over 2 years, assisting him since he lives alone. He had open heart surgery 25 years ago and is still doing fine. I believe it was 4 bypasses. Just in the last 2 years, he has had stents put in to the clogged bpasses. He also has a pace maker. It is amazing just how successful medicine is today. Three gentlemen from Dad's church just came by for a brief visit and 2 of those 3 had also had open heart surgery. It almost seems "commonplace" any more. Of course, I would be scared to death IF it were ME. :-) Everyone is. But I think you will be both surprised and happy with the great success and recovery of the operation. Say many prayers and I will say one for both of you also.
It is easy to say that Kathy. But for now I just need someone to distract me... call me something mean like a flaming liberal or the sort.... :)
OK. Let's see. We could discuss gun control. Or HObamacare. I heard someone call "him" B.O. lol.....Gay marriage? Illegals? Wow....the topics are endless and of course would get us booted right out on our wazzoous..... Hang in there. :-)
*writes new rule Certain threads may be excluded from all rules as smack down threads to keep people entertained during times of need. There that should fix it....
A good friend of mine had quadrouple bypass surgery 19 years ago and he is still alive and doing very well travelling more than 20 countries a year. In fact he is so well that he found out yesterday that he will have his 5th kid next february. Todays doctors are very good so your father will most likley have many more years of good life and life quality generally improves a lot after this kinda surgery.
Why is America holding onto our sunshine? Indonesia has a novel way of dealing with an issue of consumption of rice and their consequent requirement to import the stuff - where else could you put a 'no whatever' in for one day a week and (hopefully) improve the environment? Why is the jet stream currently to the south of the UK when it should be to the north? If a woman hits a man, shouldn't she be prepared to accept the slap back? Equalities in the modern world - discuss. That should keep you a little busy until I get home, whence I shall return to see how you have dealt with each of the points.
Praying for you you and your family Lee Ann. You take care now.
>>Why is America holding onto our sunshine? I wish we could give you some - we have fires all over. One is almost contained, but had grown to just under 250,000 acres. But not until I get back from my next bike ride. >>Indonesia has a novel way of dealing with an issue of consumption of rice and their consequent requirement to import the stuff - where else could you put a 'no whatever' in for one day a week and (hopefully) improve the environment? Communism and evil. I wonder if this shortage is man made as a method to get rid of the lesser people. There are some in the UN that want to decrease the population of the earth to about 1/7th it's current state. >>Why is the jet stream currently to the south of the UK when it should be to the north? This is a matter of prophecy. THE END IS NEAR! :) >>If a woman hits a man, shouldn't she be prepared to accept the slap back? Equalities in the modern world - discuss. I cannot tell you how proud I was of my son. His MIL was going through an episode and she went after his wife and her little brother. He took and placed himself between them and allowed her to pound on him w/o striking her back. It is a good thing for her that I did not walk in at that point, as my terms of engagement are very different. That should keep you a little busy until I get home, whence I shall return to see how you have dealt with each of the points.
The end is definitely near in this household.... we are on a diet and having salad tonight. I'm starving and it's cold so I'd rather prefer a really nice steak and chips! We are having grilled plaice with it to give that little old protein touch. Kirsty is correct. We opened a paint tin for a gloss white which we had which was a couple of years old, to smarten up a piece of furniture and the paint had separated. No amount of juggling it, stirring it and peering at it made a jot of difference. There is something to be said for buying sample tins or testers as we say here. Went to drop the car off tonight at the garage (it's a pain in the neck to get it there first thing in the morning with all the traffic) as the mounting which was replaced is making funny noises. I thought the front wheel was going to drop off. I suppose that's another few hundred pounds to fix that. There is a squirrel in the garden which has half a tail. I suspect the chief culprit for that was Mickie Poodle. Any good?
OK for next considerations : Is magic real? When does an event become history or historical? Is a car an essential or a luxury? How I'm doing? Distracted?
OK for next considerations : Is magic real? No, everything has a source of power. Hence they have a source for the power. When does an event become history or historical? About 5 minutes ago :) Is a car an essential or a luxury? Depends on where you are. They are essential here as we have no public transportation. To get to work you are not going to be able to walk, except in a few cases. How I'm doing? Distracted? Keep going - he could have been out an hour ago, but it might be another hour yet.
Just called Mom. They did not get started until 11, instead of starting at 7:30 as we thought they were. This means it won't be done until at least 3pm or 5pm. MST. It is 12:30 now.
What country have I adopted for VT-lympics? What is rushbearing? And who hosts the VT rushbearing meets? How many times the July average rainfall has some parts of England already received in the first week? Do Article 6 Human Rights apply in Disciplinary Hearings?
What is rushbearing? And who hosts the VT rushbearing meets? What are mummers?
Hey swee'pea, if the paint does not stick to the wall, can you paint a flat surface with it and then peel it off and use as a blanket...? Here is a brain teaser for you. It is not a joke. All you need to solve it, is in the question. No guessing.....d:o) Man goes on a bear hunt. When he gets to his cabin, he walks 2 miles south, turns and walks 2 miles east. He shoots a bear, and then walks 2 miles back to the cabin. What color is the bear? You being a guntotin' mama, should solve this pronto. It helps to put the trail on paper. If you do, you should see that it does not match the question, hench the teaser. Oh so many years ago I took a pilot's test for SAS, where they did not question a person's ability to fly, but rather how quick they react in a crisis. This was the last question on that test. This one was also on the test: "What resembles a half an orange the most?
OK, figured it out yet....? Here is the second one: "What resembles a half an orange the most?" The other half.......d:o)
Went to lunch. The little gal who waited on me is one of Maria's best friends, they have been friends for about 15+ years. I asked her if she knew that Maria does not like John Wayne. She did not know this, she is planning a marathon of John Wayne movies for Maria now. I am an evil mother..... I am not focusing well on the bear one. :)
That's OK sweetie....d:o) Here it is. If you draw on paper a dot (cabin), and then make a line from it representing 2 miles, then like it says draw another line (90 degrees) same length 2 miles, and then from that point draw a line back to the dot. You should have a triangle. The question said that last line is also 2 miles, yet you can see that it is longer than the other lines. Right? So, where on the planet, would that last line be the same length as the first two? Only one place. The North Pole. So when he walks 2 miles south, turns and walks 2 miles east, that line is bent as he is in essence walking in a semi circle. All three line are now the same 2 miles. Can you now tell me what color the bear was?.........d:o)
White :)
....but of course. Bloody clever innit? What is black and white and red all over? A newspaper? Not! A nun in a blender... (sorry....)
If a rooster lays an egg on the top of a roof, which way will the egg roll down the roof?
Roosters don't lay eggs. As I was going to St Ives I met a man with seven wives. Every wife had seven sacks. Every sack had seven cats. Every cat had seven kits. Kits, cats, sacks, wives: how many were going to St Ives?
one
:-) No more for now, 'cos I'm off to bed and it wouldn't be fair to leave you without an answer. Things will be fine.
Is it worth losing a very good doctor on the possibility she could become your girlfriend?
He just got out, thank you all!!! He will be in ICU for a couple of days. More later.
In case you need more... You are driving your car on a curved road. On your left, there is a slope. Next to you on the right there is a fire engine running at the same speed as your car. In front of you, a big sow the size of your car is galloping along and you cannot overtake. From behind you are followed by a low-flying helicopter. How do you get out of this situation without any harm? Solution tomorrow, time for bed now... (And best wishes for your Dad!)
I am soooooo late but then I am down under in Aussieland, praying your dad will recover quickly mate!! Any good looking doctors and nurses? that can pass the time away quite pleasantly. Big ((((()))))'s Dorrise
