OK, Lew!! you came thru; I was thinking of you.... I know she had this "connection" from the beginning with Arie (sp?) but seems that lately there has been a little discontent there, so I would not be surprised to see her go with Jeff...... but I really do think she let the wrong one of the 3 go tonight.

I do get that women enjoy this stuff, but you do know that it is not real, right? This is Unreality TV. Nothing is real. Nothing. How many of the couples on both the male and female shows have actually stayed together? Oh, wait, - none.....d:o) I am not knocking the attraction to women, - I know some that love these shows, but I am puzzled at the absolute NEED to believe that the players are making the decisions. They discuss them as if the "feelings" are genuine, and and discuss them as if there is actual love in the air. Men simply don't see these shows the same way, and if any of the women who like this, say that their man likes it, - the men are simply eh, keeping the peace. To be fair, I do know a guy who is a "gaffer", (well, he is actually a "key grip", which means that he is an apprentice to the gaffer, who is the top lighting technician), who worked on a bachelor show last year, amongst other shows. He indicated that the drama no one sees is the reactions from the players, when the director tells them what to do and what to say and how to say it. Everything is scripted, and it, as they say, takes a good director, and a palatable writer to make this stuff look spontanious. Sorry if I am a spoilsport. I am certainly not disparaging ladies for liking this. After all, I have been known to watch wrestling now and again, and yes I know it is also scripted and acted, and so on and so forth. My wonderment is the apparent NEED for women to believe it is real, but then again the creators figured that one out, hench the multi millions of female viewers, - and men who are just keeping the peace......d:o) (Ducks down to avoid the spoiled veggies being thrown his way......)

OK, I'll bite, - wow good or wow bad? Yes my post is as real as it gets. It was thoughts about the show, and I was careful to explain that it was not disparaging in any way, and even showed how I have some guilty pleasures too. I simply wondered what drives women in this particular instance. We men find women facsinating, but puzzling. I wondered out loud. If I offended you, well so be it. However, consider your response. It is plain insulting. No explanation. No discussion. Just insulting. Frankly, I should have known better. 'Nuff said!

Okay. Let's sit down, have a margarita, shake hands and come out smiling. As a man once said, "can't we all just get along." Two of my friends in dispute. Not right. Both of you are great people and I know that the two of you are not the kind to start something, but we all can misinterpret another's words. Now then, say goodnight Gracie. :-)

Well Lew, makes no difference who said it, it is what is said that is important. As for Rodney King, well, I never said he was a role model. He was not a meek or innocent man but what happened to him was a disgrace for the LAPD. Yes, he was drunk and rightfully stopped by police. Yes, he at first refused to get out of his car. When he got out all hell broke out. Yes, he was drunk and disorderly. He was wrong to resist but in his condition he was trying to stop the beating he was getting back in March 1991. The officers were overly reactive to his condition. Again, blame only those guilty of the beating, not the police in general. Police Officers put their life on the line everyday and sometimes things just go wrong. Over zealous and adrenalin rush are bad partners. The riots that caused so much damage and death in Los Angeles in April 1992 were as the result of a jury acquittal of the officers. It seems that even good has some evil and the best intentions sometimes are wrong. Racial tensions over the verdict became an explosion of hate that flamed for several days. Your words Lew; "i shall not speak evil of those who have crossed, but as my aging memory serves me, not exactly a role model for future generations. here on the east coast i missed any publication of the autopsy results. drugs or booze or both?"> Rodney King was a troubled soul and now he is dead at 47. Let him lie in peace. Assumptions can be just as hurtful as a beating. "Can we all get along?" were his actual words to the rioters and police. Let us be as kind to our fellow man today as Rodney King wanted back in 1992. I cannot cast the first stone.

Unless something was deleted, I do not see anything offensive as to what Eric said. I did not find his answer/explanation to the reality TV to be insulting. Has a posting gone missing? What I find interesting is people objecting to same sex marriage under the grounds that it will somehow diminish the significance of "true marriage" yet support and be ok with trash tv about heterosexual relationships turning them into a farce or a game. It's been going on for quite some time... The Dating Game Ricky Lake show Sally Jesse Rafael show Maury Povich Jerry Springer The Bachelor The Bachelorette Do you want to marry a millionaire Cheaters (Just began) - The Choice The list goes on.

There is nothing missing Homer......d:o) It was not a lecture, but just some thoughts on the process and why it is so very popular. I though we might discuss it in a congenial and perhaps humorous way. My mistake. I apologize for writing that the comeback was an insult. It was, but I could have kept my mouth shut. Margarita sounds good right about now Larry.......d:o)

Clearly I need to elaborate, lest you misunderstand again. I did not apologize for the post, only that I wrote in my retort that your response was an insult. There is nothing in my original post that is remotely insulting. Now, lets just end this. OK? I apologize to the rest of you for apparently screwing up what could have been an interesting conversation.

NOPE. Emily will not choose either Jeff or Ari. Surprise, surprise. That is MY prediction. Emily is out for Emily and Emily and Ricki. She has garnered her fame and will go on to bigger and better men. She was "madly" in love with some other guy on the Bachelor and then....whalla.....all is amiss. I think she thinks no one is good enough for Ricki and her. And now for the answer you've all been waiting for....WHY do women like this show? Because we still live in a fairy tale world where the handsome prince comes riding up on a white horse and sweeps us away. Proposes on bended knee (mine called me long distance ) and everyone lives happily everafter. AND...AND...AND....I personally love seeing the exotic and beautiful places they go to. For weeks now my friend and I have been planning another trip together and one of the places happens to be Curacao.....the very spot of last night's episode. You bet I watched.....catching a glimpse of its charm and color. ANd yes the whole idea of rounding up 25 "bachelors" or "bachelorettes" (some of these candidates are divorced and have kids) and falling madly in love with one and marrying that person is absurd. And Erik, there actually are about 3-4 couples who have remained together.....a couple of them married. Amazing. :-)

See, that's what I'm talking about. That really makes sense. Ladies are incurable romantics, and frankly, it is a very endearing trait. I for one, would like to see the world as women want it to be. (As long as we men get to do some stupid things.....d:o) Ladies. You gotta love'em.

Very true Trish, - it is a sweeping generalization I know, but that is kinda obvious. It seems to me though that the enormous popularity of these shows, is due to plugging into that notion, kinda like movies made for males gotta have a lot of explosions and such. We are not all hopelessly impressed by explosions, but it appeals to the male psyche, a little or a lot, depending. Hey, I could be completely wrong, - but that is why I am curious. And that is really just it. I am just curious.....d:o)
