I was introducing a lady I met on this roadtrip to VT after she mentioned Eden, New York and I said I had posted something there. She accessed my travel page, saw five Edens listed and asked "How the hell do I know which is New York". I still miss having the pages organized by states/provinces. How about you? Any VT features you wish would make a comeback?
Yep I'm with you on that one. But to be fair, she only needs to roll her cursor over the icon for each Eden and the state comes up. Man you have a lot of pages!! And really, do you really have a Buenos Aires in the United States ? :-))
Yes, there is a Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge not far from where I live. I need to go back since I have a Jeep now.
Interesting :-)
Well I am new to VT but since I am an avid traveler and understand what you must be facing and feeling. I think the feature should be here, I mean when I searched for my home town in the forums, it gave me 10 different locations with that name which I never even new exits, although categorized by name but still the pages should be categorized like that.
When you search in forums, the search result shows country and state. (unless it is a location that has not been regionalised yet).
>> unfortunately that applies only to the overview of pages with the pic-icons shown, and in this case - with 1500 pages - you need to click 14x for 100 more pages before all of the pages show up ! So it would be more practical to scroll down the alphabetical list below, BUT there NO state comes up, when you scroll over it !!!
Agreed !
Another vote for having the old continent/country/province sorted list back on display. Indeed when members have many pages a visitor does not have a clue that there might be info beyond a city available. VT should not be a puzzle in this field, but a clear display that shows relations and is easy to navigate for the occasional visitor. PJ
What PJ said.
I also agree - it was great to be able to click a continent, then a country, then a state/province/whatever, then pick a city. No need to look through lists. Also, the maps were brighter and more "cartoony", which made them easier to navigate.
I agree - if I'm pootling about members pages and look at Travel Pages because I'm planning a trip, say within Maryland, I won't necessary know what places ARE within Maryland - and I'm not encourage to go scrolling over loads to figure it out or not.
Another one.... I also quote every single word PJ said!
Yes please! I've got a few relatively unknown UK towns and villages so having them grouped by county again would be great. People browsing will also get a good idea of the counties I visit more often than others.
14th on the state/region sorting. Also, I want vertical images back. I really don't like them being cropped horizontal on pages.
I heartily agree with most of the comments. I still find problems finding things. In the past you clicked on a member and saw a list of places and a tag as to whether a place was new or updated which I found very helpful. But with 7th decade approaching, I follow the adage 'if it's not broken, don't fixit'. However, I do appreciate the speed of photos uploading now.
Great point, Michael, not to mention how long it takes to load a page with 1500 thumbnails.
...and when you can see all of these 1600 after clicking 15 times on "see 100 more pages" and you click on one of them in order to see its details and you hope to be able afterwards to jump back to the total page of the 1600 thumbs beeing shown by simply pressing the "escape-button" you will be taken back not to the total page of the 1600, BUT just to the very first 100 pages on the list and for the rest you have to click 15 times "see 100 more pages" again... ;-) In a way it really does not make sense to make more than 100 pages per continent !
On the moment it is impossible to scroll through all VT-pictures. In theory one can, but adding 100 pictures each time, is very time and memory consuming. Indexing per page was so mucg more easy and quicker. BTW The same goes for the info on one's dashboard. PJ
