The year before there was a meet in Bergamo also with people from chat.

I think that Verona was the first followed by London.

The meeting in London in January 2006 wasn't an official euro-meet - it just grew and grew and grew ..........

London 2005 was a large meeting 80 + peeps but it was in the winter and not an euromeet so to speak London 2002 was a good size VT meeting but also not an Euromeerting (I think but not sure about that ). In 2003 and 2004 VT had meetings in Manhattan Beach California One or more VT members started to complain to Giampiero saying why always have meetings in the USA Giampiero then said Ok ok go ahead and plan your Euromeeting ,and we (VT staff ) will be there with goodies The rest is history Hansi

Actually, I think that the 2003 VT Manhattan Beach International Weekender was the one that started the "Official" status of VT Meetings. Before that they were just considered VT Meetings. I do remember very early in the 2000's that there was a "big" VT Meeting in Europe, I think it was in the Netherlands, but not sure. It was held way before 2003 and I remember thinking it would have been fun to join them. It might have been the VT Chat people, but I can't remember the details because I couldn't and didn't go to it.

:) It's true that VT Meetings started with the members. And then we decided to throw one in Manhattan Beach. And then people said, why don't we have one in Europe - so members organized. The rest has been a beautiful evolving story! I think this is correct as far as official Euromeets... DAO is dreaming of a big Africa meet and a few folks are planning on planting the flag for a big meet in Egypt.

Hi Linda I joined VT in November 2002 At that time there were some big VT meetings held i n The Netherlands and Belgium Some Dutch VT;s like P J Vink and ATLC were organizing the Dutch ones I believe and Irisbe (Danielle ) did the Belgium ones I believe . And an up coming Belgium 10 year anniversary Belgium VT meeting is coming up very soon I believe this August 2012 . There was a group of Dutch and some and other VT;s that I chatted with every day in the VT Chat room . Actually two weddings that I know of came out of this char group chatting just about every day . And then of course there was the November 2002 San Diego VT meet organized by you Linda Good memories for sure Hansi

Aha YES, I got the postcard from the Marbella 2006 meeting :) Thanks everyone for the info it really is nice to read about the history of the Euro meets. Having been to 3 of them, (my first in 2008) its always nice to thank the people that put all there effort and time in organising such memorable events.

Oh Hansi, I remember the SD VT Meeting well! I was organizing the Meet when you and I met for the first time!! We can claim that we were the first "webcam" meeting! Thanks to you, Matt, Beach Dog and a few others who stayed up all night to watch us and tape us as we confound the partiers of the Gaslamp Quarter in downtown SD!
