Hi everyone,I just wanted all of you who have been with me on this journey to know that my darling Rex passed away peacefully last night 27th June 2012 at 8pm. I was with him as promised and held his hand on my heart telling him he is a very loved man when he took his final breath. He had his beloved 'sambo' (golly dolly)with him (he was given to him at his birth and with him at his death.) Thank you all for your love and support and all the wonderful messages over the last 6 months you are so appreciated by the both of us.You are the best of the best. Love from my heart to your's. Dorrise xx
Dorrise, I hope that you find all of the comfort, peace, and courage that you possibly can. It must be very difficult to temporarily lose the man who has been everything to you in your life. Celebrate his most wonderful and generous life. Reflect on all of the good and the blessing that you and Rex have been to one another. Feel the love. hugs, Drew (hund)
Aw Dorrise my friend, I am so sorry that your beloved Rex is gone from this earth. I also celebrate that his spirit will always be in you. You had wonderful years together and through your tears try to remember all of the good times. I know we VTers are all so very sorry Dorrise and we stand with you in your grief. With love, Diane
Hi Dorrise First of all Lori & I sending our condolences to you and both families . I have met Rex once for a short time but you and Rex I think were much like Lori & I and I really could see the Love that you two had for each other . You are a sweet and lovely woman and you are always so kind to everyone you meet and get to know and that is just wonderful . Rex was a very lucky man . The great support you had from so many VT members is just hearth warming ,and I think that must have really helped you . So Dorrise Lori & I want you to know that we love you and we like to help you get through this difficult time in any way we can . Lori & Hansi
Sincerest sympathy in your loss, Dorisse and to your family as well. You were blessed to have him in your life for so long and he is blessed to have been surrounded by so much love in his last moments.
A bright, new star in the sky. Dory, we are so sorry but also relieved for you both that he passed gently from this world into the next when the time came. And now you must rest, my dear. You have been there every minute and done all that was in your power to do. Lay down the load - however grateful and happy you were to carry it these past past months - and gather your many happy memories close. How fortunate you are to have had such a love in your life! Damn it all - there are never the right words, you know? All of us are here for you, all us are thinking of you, and sending our prayers, our strength and our peace your way.
Rest in peace, Rex. Dorrise, will give you a big hug in August....meantime, take care of yourself. Betts xxxx
So sorry to hear the sad news. His suffering is over now and he can rest in peace. DEE
Dorrise--I am so sorry. I'll be raising that glass. Jessie
So sorry Dorrise, but at least the end was peaceful. RIP Rex.
Dorrise, I am so sorry to hear this and my heartfelt sympathies on your loss. I am sure it was a huge comfort to Rex to be with his loved one at the end. As always, I find myself struggling for words at a time like this so I will offer you this poem which I know helped friends in a similar situation. "Death is nothing at all I have only slipped away into the next room I am I and you are you Whatever we were to each other That we are still Call me by my old familiar name Speak to me in the easy way you always used Put no difference into your tone Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow Laugh as we always laughed At the little jokes we always enjoyed together Play, smile, think of me, pray for me Let my name be ever the household word that it always was Let it be spoken without effort Without the ghost of a shadow in it Life means all that it ever meant It is the same as it ever was There is absolute unbroken continuity What is death but a negligible accident? Why should I be out of mind Because I am out of sight? I am waiting for you for an interval Somewhere very near Just around the corner All is well. Nothing is past; nothing is lost One brief moment and all will be as it was before How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!" We are all thinking of you at this time and you know where to find us should you need us.
I've got no words that might comfort you Dorrise. Just sending good thoughts your way :-)
So sad; my condolences. I can feel your loss. PJ
So sorry to hear the sad news, Dorrise!! Big comforting hug from here, I am not good in words in such a situation. He will be with you in your heart!
Sincere condolences, Dorrise Glasses will be raised here
I am sorry, Dorisse, and also have no words. Be gentle with yourself.
Be kind to yourself and receive love and strength from the prayers of us all. Love and hugs, Carole.
Saddened to read your news; I take comfort from this: May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind always be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
Dear Dorrise, words are hard to form that will find you comfort at this time. Your love of loves, Rex, will always be in your heart and alive through your thoughts. I shall toast a Jameson Whiskey to Rex for a safe journey and to you for the love you share. I will add the words of a poet that expresses Rex and your love. My prayers are with you. "They that love beyond the world cannot be separated by it. Death cannot kill what never dies.” ~ Author: Williams Penn
I send a prayer, a passing smile. We're on this earth yet but a while. When time is done and life does end, it will take time but hearts will mend. We are but few, friends through PC, but here we are for you to see. Each one of us takes time today, to help your Rex pass on his way. If we can, let's lift you high, or be a shoulder on which to cry. A strange bunch us, we are VT. I end with hugs for you from me. Gillybob greetings

He has completed the way and walked through the great gate into another world, a peaceful world without pain and suffering. Requiescat in pace. The soul is immortal. Some day you two will meet again. Dorrise - all I can do is send a big virtual hug and tell you I am thinking of you, like so many others here on VT. I wish you strength, I wish you releasing tears, I wish you the well-needed rest, I wish you loving friends who are there when you need them and know when to leave you alone. All the best wishes!
Sincere condolences. As the months go by, I hope that the grief will ease and you can begin to remember with joy the happy moments you shared.
Hi Dorrise Nothing can be said to make anything better, but to say nothing at all is worse. I'm so very sorry to hear this. Peter
