I would truly love to but I'll still be in Manila (probably having a meet or two of my own) during the camping gig and hopefully back on the road bin December. I must say this damned travelling is getting right in the way of my VT activities!
I would love to join you guys too, but i am in Malaysia and will be here for most of the summer, with a little extra trip over to Australia and once i get back to Europe by the end of august i will most likely be out of cash and will need to work a bit again. But thanks for the invitation and i will do my very best to come over and say hello to you guys soon.
Sue, for your own peace of mind and that of the local publicans and probably Constabulary, please make sure that Claus and I don't get to the same meet. That way lies madness!
Oh but Fergy, we embrace madness Oooop North!
I know that, I've been there enough. My worry is still the publicans, Constabulary and very possibly the mothers of daughters!
Pheeew no mention of sheep ;-)
I'm Northern Irish, not Welsh. *planxty takes cover and waits for the incoming.*
Dear all There's also the Multi Heritage Trails Day Out in Leeds on the 27th October!!! Which I have the pleasure of hosting! Hope to see some of you there!:D
Dawn, yet another thing I'd love to do as it has been far too long since I was in that part of the world. Again, unfortunately (well, in that respect anyway) I'll prbably be back on the road then so will have to give it a miss. I must say, you Northerners do like to host a meeting or two, don't you? I reckon the London crew, which I am very proud to be part of, had better get going with a few more events just to keep up with you lot!
Hi Fergy So much to see and do up Ooop North:-) I need to get down for one of the London Calling VT meets at some point.
You know you will be welcomed with open arms (as indeed any other member). It would be great to see you. Don't forget that apart from the LC meets, there are plenty of us that are happy to meet up in smaller groups in London. I am currently getting all excited about showing two visiting members round the East End when I get back to London in a few weeks time. I know it sounds a bit daft but it's true. Honestly, if you ever get the chance to get down, do call us up. Even if there is not a scheduled meet (and we'll rustle one up pretty quickly at the slightest excuse), I can almost guarantee that one of the LC crew will be able to meet you at some point.
Will bear this in mind when planning my London trips. I'm keen to see the off beaten track of London especially its suburbs. Will keep all of you posted!
Off the beaten track? What about places we haven't even built a track yet?
lol...I've exhausted the tourist sights so now to the suburbs...
Sorry for the thread hijack here Sue but Dawn, if you are ever in London, please get in touch. I have lived in the East End for well over 20 years and you would not believe the things to see that most tourists never even dream about.
Good plan! I best revert back to good old Ooop North of England meets thread which I hope to host many of the meets now and in the future:D
No problem Fergy! There's plenty to share between our 2 crews! Thoroughly enjoyed your East End Treasure hunt and post meet pubs visit, and am hoping that next time I'm in London and you're back in Blighty, we can arrange a hook up, so that I can enjoy more of your East End knowledge! Really think that you should consider getting your BlueBadge, or offering an alternative- You'd be a natural!
Sure Sue, any time. I'm gad you enjoyed the East End thing, it is the place I know best as I live there. As regards the Blue Badge, I had thought about it some years ago. My mate Barry, a native born Eastender and with an encyclopaedic knowledge of the place had thought about it. They sent him some sample "test" papers to become one which I saw and I tell you, you would need a Masters degree in history to pass them. I don't know who accredits these people but it is a licence to print money and, without conceit, I'll guarantee none of them know as much about the little places in the East End as I do. Having said that, they all have a second language and can tell you everything about Buckingham Palace. I know bugger all about Buck House. Then again, they are not paid to do tours of the East End. You pays your money and you takes your choice as they say. I'm happy to show VT members a few things in my area and just do it for my own enjoyment without the pressure of being a professional guide.
Let me just say, my fires are all controlled! :-D
