Hi guys, as those of you attending the 2012 Bergamo meeting have heard from G, I have the honor to host the VT meeting in 2013 in the beautiful city of Sibiu, in the heart of Romania. Yey!!! I will announce the exact dates soon but it will be most probably mid June. Sibiu and surroundings has so much to offer, I have to make the schedule of the three days, probably with alternate plans so everybody can choose his/hers liking. Looking forward to this experience and meet you all, some again some new. Bookmark this post to stay tuned to next announcements!
I'll stay tuned. All I need is some good suggestions for flights and accommodations. Good luck organizing; we'll give you all support we can. PJ
Im here too...staying tuned in! looking forward to seeing the progression
Bookmark! I wonder how easy it would be to fly from Italy to Romania... Ciao!
You did all the research in 2010 Codz so with a little updating it should be fine :) I'll definitely be wanting to stay at the Imparatul Romanilor again.
I have found Tarom to be *significantly* cheaper then Lufthansa lately for my Romanian flights http://www.tarom.ro/en/
Diana and I flew Carpatair last time from Lviv to Timisoara and then from Timisoara to Sibiu. Wizz Air are currently flying from London, Luton to Timisoara, Cluj N and Bucharest so hopefully they will still be operating in 2013. Blue Air from Dublin to Bucharest is also an option this year. Otherwise, for those of us from this side of Europe, Lufthansa or Tarom from Munich seem to be the options.
from Stuttgart there's a direct flight to Sibiu with Blue Air http://www.blueairweb.com
Yes, that's another option. Depending on whether Stuttgart or Munich are easier for people to access. There used to be a direct flight to Sibiu from Luton, maybe one of the 2013 flight schedules might re-instate that route. Here's hoping !
Wonderful stuff and there's an LA-> Munich-> Sibiu flight :)

If I am not in Asia again, I'll probably go on the train or bus, I am sort of giving up on planes, although New Zealand is going to be difficult that way! It promises to be a great meet.
bookmarked . Hansi
Hansi, please tell me you and Lori are coming.
Would love to visit Sibiu again. Not sure it'll be financially attainable unless we manage to be in Europe anyway. If I can't make it (likely) than can I at least get a lovely postcard???
Euromeet mark
On a slightly general note, isn't it amazing that people are actually making travel plans, in some cases of very long distance and a year in advance, just due to being on this site? Having only been to one Euromeet and hugely enjoyed it I understand but looked at from outside it must seem a little odd. Are we all just a little bit crazy?
Fergy, having been to my first Euromeet this year in Bergamo I can tell you that it was enough to catch the bug! It was a wonderful experience and when Codrutz sayd mid of June I started getting super excited as 13-18 June is probably the only time of next year when I would have a chance to actually make it!!
Hi again:) It's early indeed for detailed plans, we have a lot of time until the next year's meet:) I will gather all the info you need, especially airlines info, I did a lot of research and for the moment Munich is the best hub, but next year some more options can arrive. I'll make a special page for this meet (it will be Euromeet2013) and a meeting in the calendar where you can rsvp. List of confirmed participating members is important because I'll have to know the party for which I'll make the bookings on restaurants and tours. Also I'll announce the choices for hotels with a discount for VT members. And schedules later:)
Orietta, yes it is a little bit special, isn't it? Being in the same place with a load of like-mined people from all over the world is a pretty special experience. I know last years meet(s) will live in my memory as long as I live. Codrut, don't stress abut details too early, nobody can even book international flights yet! I know you've done a lot of work already, and all will be fine.
Hello, Orietta and I began to plan for the meet when we opened the door after returning from Bergamo! Checking on cheap flights and to what city, and how to get to where you are, and also possible hotels. We appreciate the work you are going to have to do. I vote for June 13-16 as these days are workable for the factory where Orietta works. I am retired and you could have it any day...ha This will be a great meet, I can feel its energy already in the mail I get. Painterdave
Sounds really cool. And mid june is a lot better for me than late may, that is for sure. And i really look forward to returning to romania. I was there a few years ago travelling by train through the country and had a fantastic time in some tiny villages where i stayed with locals i met on the train.
Mid June is fine by as as we want to set up another meet entirely in mid to late May anyway There are also flights from Brussels(Zaventem)to Sibiu (via Munich)
For Fergy Unless one of us have medical problems next year that would prevent us from trav eling we will come to Sibiu Romania Even if we had to make a stop at the moon or Venus We usually do not sign our names until we are really sure that we can make a VT meet Hansi
I think it's a sign of the huge interest in a Euromeet in Romania, that people are already considering ways and means of getting to Sibiu. Interestingly Codz, the whole thread from last time is still on the Sibiu travel forum.
Yes Katherine the forum page for the small meet in Sibiu in 2010 is still there, I remember trying to find you a good flight back to Ireland. It is good that people are already searching connections, feel free to do that, I will post some options and examples (some are on my Sibiu page - no advertise whatsoever, feel free to check all Sibiu pages). Once I'll see the members I'll try to propose a route for each. To make the trip more worth traveling to Romania, I might also propose some after meet options in Romania for the next couple of days, I'll ask how many will be interested to stay and see more. Hansi and Lori - stay healthy and get here to bring your joy:)
(Hansi and Lori - stay healthy and get here to bring your joy:) We will we will Codrut Hansi
Shalom Codrut, wonderful to learn of your taking up the challenging Olympian flame for the next VTEuromeet in 2013. I do hope that my wife Zohara and I will be able to attend. Martin
We hope so too!
