Hi and Shalom all: Once upon a time the friends list was in divided in two, those online and those not. Both lists were in alphabetical order by the user name. Fast forward to today, I tried to find a friend to write a letter and the entire list is jumbled, could not for the life of me figure out where to find a single friend in my list, I had to flip through all the pages... HOW is the list organized today, anybody know? Martin
According to the members' ranking, with the online members in front. Not exactly easy to overlook. This problem has been discussed a couple of times before, but so far with no results.
If you go to your friends list it looks like it's those online by VT rank first, and then those offline by VT rank. I think this was something that was on the list to be changed. I agree it's really a pain to try and find someone specifically especially since it only shows 40 at a time.
Shalom Martin, Sorry I cannot help you with the friends list. I only wanted to comment that VT lost me with the new format. I stopped using VT on a regular basis with the new design. I only pop in from time to time to check my mailbox (and clear out the daily tips that pile up there), pop into a couple of forums and to do high level research for upcoming trips. I am afraid to say that I have moved to another travel forum for my wanderlust fix and my regular travel and destination research. I just find this "new" design too cumbersome to navigate to the places I like to regularly visit. It looks nice though!
hmmm - I was guessing by amount of time they spent on line, but your reason seems much better. Guess I better start to memorize all of my friend's ranking so I can find them when I need to....
These days I only check the online friends at the top. If the person I want isn't there I use the search function, but that's not ideal cos I keep forgetting that the default is destination ;-) I too understood this was on the snagging list but I suspect it's not high up the priority list.
WE'll have to make alphabetical another sorting option!
Please do G!
Great news...we have been hoping.
That sounds great Giampiero - thank you :-)
imo the friends list is a mess. I always have to go thru the whole list to find someone and my list isnt so long. Doing a member search is another option but many have _ in between or some other characters that make finding them difficult. Please G - get back to alphabetical!
Actually, if I could be so bold, a drop down to pick the name of a friend from the e-mail section would be appreciated. Thanks G
messaging system (like email, but no actual email only sent in VT) will have more options as described.
Thanks for the answers here, never thought to look at ranking as the key factor of the list. Will be looking forward to the alphabetical so I can again use my friends list to look up friends. While on the subject of our friends list, it would be nice if there was a function where I could click-drag-drop friends into a particular e-mail that I want to send to several friends. Martin
Well you can make a list in word and save it with an icon...then just copy and paste...it might not be scientific but it works. The trouble with listing by rank is rank changes...and you need to know the rank in the first place....photos change as well.
Thanks Marguerita for your suggestion, but it would not work since each and every letter would have different people. I use a progam at work to put out purchase orders...I have a major list of 25,000 pieces, and I just mark an item, then drag it over into the second list where it copies itself. I was thinking of something like the where you begin to write a letter and then it has a function that opens your list of friends and from that list you can mark two or twenty friends to send the same letter to, like for a meeting or invitation. Martin
Yes Martin ...mine only works for simple things.....not on a major scale. I have my document set up though that I can copy and paste a group from it. But your idea woud be much more useful Marg
So I guess "we" will have to mention it to G and see what he thinks. Martin
Sarah said "...I use the search function, but that's not ideal cos I keep forgetting that the default is destination...", and I add: You must remember the exact spelling of the memeber and sometimes you don't remember if there is an "I" or "Y" or "_" or whatever...
So I have a little VT paper notebook...wow...an old fashioned remedy. But yes I agree so I am glad it is on the "mending board"
