Hello World! Has been a while! 2010 is ending and well, it's the season of looking back to see achievements of 2010. 2011 is in near sight and well, most of us have prolly defined their goals already (whether you're this type of person). Mine are writtin on my hp. You'll see, travelling was... left aside (well, still a vtgal, Norali ?). For a reason & another type of adventure : preparing for the development of a personal project in style accessory design with a mission to go more & more locavore in my process (materials, labour...). Now, getting back to the post title. I'm designing bags... a whole blog on it My biggest concern is about crochet bag... Lately, I took interest in Madagascar cotton thread (écru or coloured). Have developed several cotton crochet designs. Though I've seen & read some regain of interest by celebs, fashionistas over crochet bags, still wondering why the woman-on-the-street doesn't sport often crochet bags. The very rare sights of crochet bags are when they are used as beach bags (raffia as material) or on urban hippie woman. Now, look at my second crochet design, would you, average (not hippie, no Angelina Jolie, nor Cameron Diaz nor Halle Berry nor Penelope Cruz nor Jessica Alba) wear it in the city ? greenmorphoaccessories.wordp... Norali PS: Hey! It's not an ad for my blog. Rather, I have this concern about crochet bags.
I think its a nice bag. I'd like a photo to see if its lined (it might be in the descriptive text, but I didn't take the time to read). Personally, I wouldn't use that sort of bag but that's because I'm not a big bag person and I only like bags with long (shoulder) straps.
It looks pretty, but I would not have that sort of bag, have too much stuff in mine and need a more sturdy, "practical" leather type bag with a zipper. Plus it would get dirty too fast
I'm going to agree with the two postings. I like the design a lot, and the work is really good. However,at once I was looking for a lining and I couldnm't see one. On my mind that fact made this design into a summertime bag. In Finland we cannot really wear crocheted cotton bags in winter - I'd be concerned it gets wet. I like knittiong and crocheting,too.. -Soili-
It does say the bag is lined and that the lining holds the weight of the bag. Yes, I too really like the design of the bag, I like the button detailing. It looks like it would go over my head; I prefer bags to cross over my chest so they're secure when I'm cycling. The colour shown is too light for me but I see you can do them in others too. I usually think of crochet as being hippyish but your bag looks really modern to me. Good luck!
The bag is cute, but for me, a white handbag made of yarn is a bag that will stay clean and in one piece for maybe ten days. I need something more durable. Celebrities can afford to own a hundred purses, but most of us have just one or two that need to last!
I might carry the red or the black bag if it had a single strap long enough to wear across the chest. I agree that an interior photo of the bag would be helpful. Can you hand wash it, or would it need to be dry cleaned? I avoid things that need to be dry cleaned.
Well I am not a Bag lady but I do have an interest in Crochet and knitting I Like your Bag very much it looks like a lot of work but that don;t matter I think . Well done my dear Norali Merry Christmas to alkl of you HOHOHO. Hansio
Good to see you in the Misc forum, Norali.
Hello again! Had to leave for awhile but am back. Thank you all for taking your time for these answers. All constructive. Love (its name) has lining. Prolly the reason you couldn't see it, it's because the lining is in écru cotton as well. I wanted it discreet, not to compete with the design, rather complement it :-) And yes, it is the lining that contains the content, backing its weight. So, the crochet work wouldn't loose. Took me some anxious nights to focus on such things. Seems like a detail but... One reason I wrote that, for once, the pre-crocheting steps were very demanding. Time-wise, focus-wise... Btw, all my designs have lining. Long strap... I have other more practical models in canvas with longer shoulder sraps. :-) Those models are Long, Solar (both in canvas), Miss Pencil (crochet & ajustable strap length thanks to a cabanister), Bissac (in canvas - for men). Rock model is a flat, small bag, has an adustable srap that can cross he body. They are here: greenmorphoaccessories.wordp... Now, the fear of getting it too dirty too fast... it is possible to crochet other colours. The écru cotton can be handwashed. Indeed, celebs can afford zillion bags.. and shoes. Now, something I noticed in Madagascar. It is rather the tourists and other expats who like crochet bags a lot (raffia, mostly). Locals are more tepid. Is it still a budget matter ? Summer bag... indeed, it looks like if fall and winter use to be wet. Emma... seems you're another future owner of a Love bag, aren't you ? Now, Misc. forum... don't have net access home so have to go to a cyber for that. Plus, the bag design project is soooooooooooo passionating that I tend to leave all other things aside. No walk anymore, no gym anymore. No Vt anymore. Worse, no travelling this year (2011 maybe), all the money goes into... bags!!! lol
