I just finished packing for our first trip with the baby. Now ... what did I forget? Or better: what is the "must haves" that you would have packed?
PS. he is 8 1/2 months old and we fly to greece, go by ferry and stay in a pension on an island. I think I never before had so much problems what all to take with us.
Don't forget the baby!! lol
I seem to remember that going to the park wiyh ababy involves enough dunnage to keep a small army of sherpas. Travelling furthet afield, just more nappies. Vital items: 1) the baby 2) the mummy.
Don't forget the nappies
lol, I can imagine it, thinking about the luggage, the baby cart, the car children seat, the food for during the travel and then, when you get to the airport you ask: " and where is Simon?"
Well wet wipes were always a must for me. But even if you forget things all Countries these days have everything for a baby..Just relax and enjoy your holiday. Love Pattypoo x
in your handbag at the plan...toys, something to eat and drink, a blanket, wipes, bottle ( for baby to drink while plane take off and land to avoid ears hurting)...comfy things the baby like while trying to sleep ( some have a soft toy , some has a cloth etc)
A little umbrella or a cover to protect him from the sun.
Hi Myndo, I hate to sound negative but.. Don't forget a thermometer (in case he gets sick) and baby aspirin or whatever they recommend in case of a fever. Also your doctor's phone number. I hope you have a great time. My son and his wife also are contemplating taking their 8 1/2 months old baby on vacation to Europe but they are hesitant because of the long flight. Jeannette
...something to entertain the baby? Games, books...
Oh my goodness . . . travelling with a baby . . . if there is anything left in your house, you've forgotten something. LOL -- that's the way it feels when we travel with our little one, anyway. You've gotten some good suggestions, but I think the most important is to take any medication the baby might need. Other things you can buy in a pinch, but medicines might not be the same and, if you have anything prescription, you might not be able to get it at all. Oh, and if he or she has some kind of food he or she can't do without, by all means take some!
Thank you, umbrella is a good idea, also the medication. I am taking half the pharmacy with me, it seems.
the best thing just happened. Hubby shouting from the next room, whether Simon has fiddled with the combination of the safe - he can't open it again, and all his papers (passport etc) are in there. The safe is on the floor, so it is a good guess it was Junior. Hubby always has the safe so that he only has to turn to one number to open it. Now this don't work anymore....
SORRY BUT I'M KILLING MYSELF LAUGHING!!!! Hope he gets it open kids hahahahahh
He is looking for the original 4 numbers now, and I am googling "how to open a safe" ....
Oh dear . . .
Madamx beat me to it. The umbrella is important for sun protection. White of course like everything else. If your buggy is a dark colour, take along white cloth to cover were the sun shines on it. We found that the old type cloth diapers were good to use as sun covers.
oh...sunscreen and sunglasses too for the baby. Jeannette
The buggy is red, so I think that with the white cloth is a good idea - will pack some more.
Light-colored receiving blankets are good for that, too -- we got so many of them and that was the best use. If your pediatrician has said it's OK, some baby sunblock would be vital, too. (Our ped said after 6 months it was fine.)
a hat that cover the neck and thin longsleves jumpers/ t-shirts
OK, hubby has the numbers, now he is turning the lock. Obviously he does not do that very often. But I think I can help him now, having read up things on the net. Will be back soon (hopefully) and thanks for the suggestions, keep them coming!
The very best is to seek shade as much as possible. The little person still has an under-developed temperature compensator ;o) btw, we flew to Spain with our 7 month old daughter. She survived to become a healthy 13 year old today LOL Mind you, it feels like she only used 3 years getting that old....
hat that cover the neck and .... You can use one of those cloth diapers under the hat for covering the neck
....when you get old like me, then you can still use those old cloth diapers as handkerchiefs heeheehee
or to clean with :-)
SO, everything is sorted out. We also managed to open the safe. Now I am signing off for two weeks. Thanks to all and have a good time!
have a great trip :-)
a face mask. Not everything you pack is for baby! It's for YOU too. Enjoy your trip and the face mask :-)
You all have forgotten the most important thing to pack is:- THE BABYSITTER!!!
