Hi all :)
Do You know, whether due to weather conditions Khunjirap Pass is open? Is it after 1st of May, or now already.
Do You know, whether with the Pakistan visa could I cross this pass?
/I'm Polish citizen..so..european union/.
What could be the fastest time to get visa in Pakistan Consulate in Chengdu, /with the possible letter of invitation from my friend from Lahore/? Does anyone has any experience?
Did anyone cross this pass lately/even last year/..is it safe to reach Quetta, Peshawar? How long it lasts to come to Peshawar fro Khunjirap pass?
Thanks..:)
my skype:phoros62 for any contact, or email: phoros@o2.pl

Hi..does anybody knows any info about getting visa to Tajikistan in Urumqi?
Does this consulate still exists? :)
What is the fastest way to get this visa/my friend in Dushanbe could send me the invitation letter-would it help?
I know, there is a border cross straight from China to Tajikistan.
Is it only for local people, or can I use it?/I want to pass after 29th of April/.
Does anybody knows, about the possibility to draw the money from ATM in Dushanbe, or should I change money in Malaysia and take there USD?
Thanks in advance..:)

Hi, I am travaling to Thailand through China. I have long waits for my connecting flights: in Guangzhou Baiyun (CAN)on the way to Thailand and in Urumqi (URC) on the way back. I am a US citizen. Are there hotels within the airports where I can spend the night, so that I don't need to get a Chinese visa? Thank you.

I am looking to travel to Urumqi to meet a friend (Chinese citizen). My China visa is in the process of being worked on. I am US citizen. The visa company said there may be a problem with going to Urumqi. Does anyone know of any issues currently that prohibit foreigners from traveling to Urumqi?

My friends and I (all about 70 years old) will be in Macau in July.We intend to cross over to China for a 9-day free and easy trip.
We intend to fly to Urumqi from Guangzhow or Shenzen and later make our way back by land.
Please advise where we can purchase budget airfare or any other matters like accomodations and travel useful to us

Chinese multientry visa in Dubai, or 2 single entry visas?
Hey, I am doing a long trip
Dubai (Feb)
Iran (March-June)
Tajik/Krgyz (July)
-cross the Chinese border to Kashgar, and down to Pakistani frontier at Sost
-Pakistani/Islamabad, back to Chinese frontier
-re-enter China, up o Kashgar, Urumqi, Qinqghai, Xinining, get tebit permit, enter Lhasa (August)
-leave for Kathmandu
-Nepal (late September)
-India (mid-October0
My question is about the Chinese visa, and whether to get a multientry visa (2 entries), in Dubai, or 2 single entries, one in Dubai (to enter China after Kyrgyzstan), and the 2nd visa in Islamabad, to re-enter China.
If I get a multiple entry China visa in Dubai, I am concerned how valid it remains, especially since I am in Dubai in Feb, and planning to enter China (the 1st time) around July, and the second time, around August? Dubai, and Tehran are the only places I can pick up the Chinese multientry visa, before entering Central Asia, where it's said to be much harder to get the Chinese visa.
Also, what's the difference between a multiple entry visa vs. 2 single entry visas.
I am going to China twice. once after crossing the border with Kyrgyztan, down to Kashgar, on to the Pakistani frontier (total trip maybe 1 week, hardly worth the cost of a visa, butt I have to get into China).
2nd trip is coming back up to the Chinese frontier, after visiting Pakistan, and Islamabad. in Theory, I can pick up a 2nd single entry visa in Islamabad, where it's much cheaper than Dubai.
So the question is should I deal with all the Chinese visas in Dubai, and get a multientry, or get 2 single entries, one in Dubai, for the 1st entry, and another in Islamabad for the 2nd entry.
The 1st entry is going to l last about a week or 10 days max, just over the border to Kashgar, from Bishkek, and down to Sost, at the Pakistani frontier, so not much.
The 2nd entry will be lengthy and long, including Kashgar again Urumqi, Xining, Qinghai, at least a month-6weeks.
So what to do about the Chinese visa?

route from Tibet to Kyrgyzstan (and maybe Xinjiang)?
We are planning a Tibet trip in late June/early July, and afterwards, (depending on what kind of Chinese visa I get in Kathmandu, or Lhasa), I'd like to continue into China proper, and visit Xinjiang, and maybe even Qinghai.
My question is what kind of transport is there from Lhasa to Xinjiang? What's the website for the Chinese train that goes from Lhasa north? Does it stop in Urumuqi, or do I have to backtrack through Xining?
Another question is what route do I take to enter Kyrgystan (from China)? I choose Kyrgyz because Canadians get visa on arrival. I am also interested in entering Kazakhstan from China, but then I need to pre-arrange a visa, but where in that part of Western China, I don't know.
Tajikistan also borders Xinjiang, but I am not sure if foriegners are allowed to cross here?

I'm considering moving to Urumqi (from Austin, Texas) and would like to know if there are any grappling clubs or classes in Urumqi. I am a BJJ blue belt and would like to continue my training in at least some way once I get there.
Does anyone know if there are grappling schools in the area?
Thanks,

My husband and I would be interested in the Silk route but have no idea where to start.? We would prefer 9 to 10 days duration for the tour because we plan to fly to Japan for another extend 4 days before flying home.
This is in the planning stage and would probably do in 2009.
I have other trips to China on my mind but will discuss later.
Thanks

I'll be at a conference in Urumqi, and now I'm thinking about excursions for a group to Turpan and Tian Chi Lake. Are one-day trips possible? And maybe somebody knows if excursions are offered, or would we have to use puplic transportations?
And perhaps somebody has another good tip what to do with a group of scientists?
thanks in advance,
Ivonne

It's come to my attention that that John's cafe has been closed for over three years. I'll be going to Urumqi on the 12th of May and would like to get some up to date information as the present guide books don't seem to be reliable. I've heard of a new foreign owned bar called fubar. Where is it and has anyboy been there?

Hi,
I have in mind going by train from Urumqi to Almaty in september. There are only two trains per week. Do you know, if the trains are often fully booked? Is it possible to get a ticket for four persons, when I buy it in Beijing aprox. 5 days before the departure. Or, how many days before departure can I buy the tickets? And what´s the price for it?
Thank you!
