Does anyone knows if there is any rockclimbing going on in Xiamen?

I´m considering studying at Xiamen Daxue, but I might change my mind and go to Wuhan just because they have a rock climbing gym there.

Please can someone recommend where to do a manicure/pedicure? I'd appreciate if you can give me the shop name, address and telephone number. It's been difficult to get alot of info out of the web search.... :-(

how much is the bus & taxis fares from xiamen airport to yongding?

Hi, I will be visiting Xiamen in NOV, intending to spend 3 days there.
Do you have any suggestions for some quick sight see or any day trips?

I am writing from Singapore.
I plan to travel to Xiamen on 7 Nov 07, and would like to take a train to Wuyishan on evening of 8 Nov 07.

Could all the experience traveller advise how can I book train ticket in advance and get it delivered to my hotel on 7 Nov 07?

Alternatively, can anybody advise how and where can I book 2 days tour package to wuyishan (include to and fro train ticket)? I would like to get this package booked before I left for Xiamen.

Is it possible to do a day trip to Nanputuo? If positive, what is the best way to go about? Can I book a day tour from the hotel lobby or from a local travel agency? Thanks

Hi guys I will be in Xiamen from the 14th October and will stay at the Home Inn but thought it might be worth staying on the island as I plan to visit for the day. Are there any budget hotels there ? I read that the Lizhi Dao was cheap (according to the ROUGH GUIDE) but can't find it on the net.

As for Xiamen I am staying 4 nights and may change hotel to a smaller one which again is about 200-220 RMB......does anyone know of any that are good ?

Hi, we are a family of 8 travelling to Xiamen 12-15Oct. Need arrangement for airport/hotel/airport trfs (van or minibus) sightseeing on the next day.
Will be staying at the Sheraton Hotel. I have to make these arrangements as our package does not include land transfers. Have read that taxi prices are reasonable from airport to hotel but if possible we like to travel together.

I have booked a air tickets to Xiamen in late july. All f&e, so have to plan the monent i reach xiamen airport to all the way to departure.

i have been reading the forums. Still have some questions to ask.

1. there are buses to Xiamen city. how long will it takes to reach city from airport?

2. What is the temperature in Xiamen in late jun? will it be very warm?

3. I love ma la huo guo. Any recommandation in xiamen?

4. Lushan hotel? what is good about this hotel? is the hotel walking distance to ZhongSan Road?

5. i read some of the tour package. To go to wu yi shan with return over night train tickets and 1 night hotel stay at wu yi shan, and meals will cost about Yuan880. is this price reasonable? is tour guide needed to go wuyishan? else is it possible to do a self plan trip to wuyishan?

my planned iternary will be:

20/6: 8:00pm reach xiamen
21/6: day time tour xiamen town city, night train to wuyishan
22/6: wuyishan tour. overnight at wuyishan hotel
22/6: day time tour wuyishan. Night train to xiamen
23/6: morning reach xiamen. afternoon rest and relaz at xiamen
24/6: day trip to Gulangyu Island then back to xiamen hotel
25/6: visit Nanputuo Temple, xiamen uni, shopping
26/6:
27/6: depart xiamen at evening

I need more suggestions for places of interest? I prefer to have a slow pace trip. where other places can i go for shopping?

where is hakka round house located? is it near to xiamen? how long will it takes to reach there?

Isn't gongfu the same as kongfu or Cantonese.Like cantonese peole call themselves gongfu yen in their own dialect?

End of the month will arrive in Xiamen for 2 days. Then proceed south to Shantou in Guangdong Prov for another three days. What can we see or visit on the way to Shantou and how long is the trip? What is the distance like by car? We are a family and what are the places of interests for these two cities?

I am coming to Xiamen to live in February. We have 4 young children, so we will need a fairly big apartment. Does anyone have any recommendations? Also, what is usually included in "furnished" apartments? Do we need to bring our own bedding, kitchen utensils, etc or are they usually provided, like they are here in Australia?

hello.. I suppose there are advertised competition sites for the World Choir Games in Xiamen by now. We are from the Philippines and we are going to your city on July 14-21. I'm planning to travel to Xiamen for World Choir Games in Xiamen between July 13-25, 2006. So far still don't know where the competitions, exhibitions, or any relating activities will be held. It's very difficult to choose the hotel to stay. Please suggest hotels around 3-4 stars that are located in the center and easily to access to exhibition or convention halls or the place that would be most likely this big event would be held. It would be really really appreciated if anyone know in detail about the competition as well. Thank you

We are thinking of visiting Xiamen this coming October, where my wife's ancestors hailed from. How's the weather like at this time of the year? Can any locals or regulars let us know whether this is a good place for a family holiday (with kids)?
What are the must do's in Xiamen and and good and reasonably priced hotel here?
