| Xi'an | day tour outside Xi'an Posted: Mon June 25, 2007 06:57 PM UTC
I'll be arriving in Xi'an on the 7th (early morning around 6.45) and leaving on the 10th in the afternoon. Now my friend has everything organised on the 8th, 9th and 10th, which includes going to see the main sights in Xi'an. As she will only be arriving in the evening on the 7th, I'm looking for something to do on my own that day (don't mind arriving very late that evening). I'm especially interested in natural sceneries, wildlife and hiking. I hope someone can gove me some nice suggestions, including how to go there and to get back. Thanks a lot!!

| Xi'an | Help with Xi'an newbies Posted: Sun June 17, 2007 02:25 AM UTC
My partner and I are in Xi'an on business for a week. We know the sights to see and things to do.
What we need help with is good restaurants to take business colleagues to and also somewhere where we can buy some good white wine, perhaps Chillean, South African or, of course, Australian. Can anyone help, please? |

| Xi'an | leaving xian by train by midnight... Posted: Mon June 11, 2007 08:10 AM UTC
is it safe? Because I plan to take the midnight train (12 midnight) to luoyang. i want to save time, so I plan to take maybe a train from xi'an that is scheduled around 12 midnight to 1am, and then arriving luoyang early morning so I can explore luoyang already. I'm travelling alone, and I'm a girl, so I don't know if it's safe or not.

How much will it costs? Just the cheapest one. My original plan was to take the train but they said it's really hard, so I have no choice but to take the plane. But I want to know first how much it usually costs if I take the plane?

1) Where is Wild Goose PAgoda? Is it the same as little goose pagoda or big goose pagoda or is this a different one?
2) the Tang Dynasty Show, is it in Tang Dynasty Arts museum? What is the show all about? How much is the entrance fee? 3) Where is the entrance of the city wall? 4) the history museumis the Shaanxi History Museum, right? Is it worth going here: 1) Grand Buddha Temple 2) Banpo NEolithic Village 3) Temple of 8 immortals Also, how much do you guys think is the perfect budget for Xian for may 3-4 days, excluding the train ticket? Is 2500RMB enough? I'm only staying in a backpacker's hostel so it'll be cheaper |

| Xi'an | Climbing Mt Huashan Posted: Wed May 16, 2007 01:38 AM UTC
I will be in Xi'an the end of May for a few days. I would like to hike Mt Huashan beginning at night to arrive at the top for sunrise. Eventhough I have experience climbing I would prefer not to hike at night on my own. Is it possible to hire an english speaking climbing guide?
This is my first time posting on VT - I hope I get some good suggestions! |

| Xi'an | Going to Xian this Weekend Posted: Tue March 20, 2007 03:04 AM UTC
I would appreciate any advice on the following, as I will be going to Xian on Friday with 5 friends for the weekend.
This is our proposed itinerary: FRIDAY - arrive 2pm, hotel by 330pm - walk around town - Tang Dynasty Show for dinner SATURDAY - leave hotel 8am for Terracotta Warriors - Wild Good Pagoda in the afternoon SUNDAY - Drum/Bell Tower - City Wall - Muslim Quarter - depart for airport at 5pm 1. Since we are a large group, we are thinking it'd be easier to just hire a car/van for the day we go to the Terracotta Warriors (on Sat), and that way the driver could bring us to some other spots along the way/on the way back. Is this a good idea, and how much should be expect to pay for a driver for the day? 2. Any comments on our itinerary? 3. Is the best way to get to our hotel by taxi? Many thanks for your help! |

| Xi'an | Is one day in Xi'an possible? Posted: Fri March 16, 2007 05:12 PM UTC
I was planning on visiting Xi'an for 2 days but decided to cut it down to one. Will this be possible? All I want to see is the terracotta warriors, the city walls, Wild Goose pagodas, and the Bell and Drum Towers. I'm thinking of arriving in Xi'an in the morning from Beijing, and leaving at night on an overnight train to Shanghai. Is this possible?

| Xi'an | A-Fang palace Posted: Sat March 10, 2007 06:03 PM UTC
Hi, this is my first post. I plan to make a trip to Xi'an in June, and I was wondering if anyone had any information regarding the A-Fang palace (or E-pang palace). From what I was able to cull from the internet this place is either a 2000 year old imperial fortress or a tourist trap built in 1995. Can anyone help? This place seems intersting, but I'm not sure if it's worth the admission. Thanks
