What's the best way to get from Tokyo(Shinjuku) to Mt Fuji 5th Station. Would a day trip be sufficient for sightseeing?

We are 2 adults and a 4yr old travelling to Hakone for 2 nights. Can anyone suggest budget accommodation that is close to the JR station?
We also want to do the Hakone round course.
We are also worried we will not have a selection of places to eat in Hakone. Will this be a problem, especially for the 4yr old?

Hi,
My cousin and I will be traveling to Japan from August 12-22, 2010. We are staying in Tokyo for the first 4 nights and then heading to the Mt Fuji area for a few nights. We plan on climbing to the top via the Kawaguchiko 5th station. After the climb, we are looking into staying in Hakone for a night to rest our sore legs in a nice hot spring. Can anyone provide me with information on how to get from the Kawaguchiko 5th station to Hakone? In addition, any recommendations you may have on places to stay in the Hakone area are welcomed.
Thank you for your help!

Hi travelers,
I will be traveling alone in Japan and would like to stay 2 days in Hakone on March 24th or 25th 2010. Any female travelers interested to join booking a package deal together (Hakone freepass & accomodation), traveling from Tokyo to Hakone vv?
Or does anyone has any advise to get a good deal for accomodation with hotspring at an inn/hotel?
Thanks!

I will visit Japan soon and as everyone recommend that July will be the best time for visiting Mt Fuji I am looking for some information regarding where will be the best to stop over when taking a train from Tokyo? Any recommendation for accommodation in near by town or village?

We would like to visit the surrounds of Mt. Fuji as a overnight trip from Tokyo, max 2 nights.
Have read different sites recommending different towns, particularly Hakone and Yamaguchiko. Which is a better town in terms of transportation from Tokyo, getting to 5th station on Mt Fuji, inexpensive accommodation and good views?
Will there be other sites of interest in these towns to keep us occupied for 2 days?
Appreciate any input. Thanks.

After a long time, I managed to find a picture of Kai Resort in Hakone. Wonder if anyone knows how to book the hotel and how to get there.
Thanks
