HI FOLKS,

I'll come alone so I wanna know if it's common enough to eat alone in restaurants in Japan or I'm going to be seen like an alien?!! |

I will arrive to Nagoya by fast train from Kanazawa and i will have to go local train to Okazaki. Is it true that this train will not leave from central station, but from Nagoya NR station. Is it far from one station to the other?

| Nagoya | Could you suggest accomodation near Nagoya train station? Posted: Mon May 23, 2005 05:16 AM UTC
I will go to Nogoya and visit 2005 Expo in July. I found that many hotels are full already. Could you suggest some good places near Nagoya train station to stay? It would be best if a double room charges less than 15000 yen. Thanks.

| Nagoya | Nagoya for Little Children Posted: Fri May 6, 2005 04:25 PM UTC
Hi,
I wonder if you can give me some advices on what to prepare for. I will be staying in Nagoya for 6 weeks with my wife and two little girls (6 months and 2 years). I will be having a two-room apartment, so housing is reserved. I am more concerned about what to do with my children and also about having every things they need. If you could give me some suggestions what to prepare for, this would be helpful. Thanks. |

| Nagoya | Airport to Nagoya Station Question Posted: Sat April 16, 2005 01:55 AM UTC
I'll be flying to the new Centrair airport next week and want to go directly to Tokyo by Shinkansen that afternoon. I have a JR Rail Pass. This is my quesiton:
Does the rail pass cover the train from the airport to Nagoya station, inorder to catch the Shinkansen? Or will I have to pay for that seperately? Thanks. Also, what are the chances of seeing any cherry blossoms going towards Takayama next weekend? |

The new Chubu International Airport is opening on 2/17 near Nagoya, Japan.
Does anybody know the IATA airport code for this new airport? Or will they just transfer the Komaki airport code, NGO? |

| Nagoya | Shopping and phones in Nagoya Posted: Tue March 23, 2004 06:02 AM UTC
I'm going on exchange in Nagoya from the 1st April. I'm thinking of buying a digital camera and a laptop over there, but would appreciate it if anyone could give some advice as to where would be best, and how much I would be looking at... Some people have also said that it might not be a great idea to get a laptop in Japan because it would be installed with a Japanese operating system etc..
Also, was wondering what to expect in terms of costs wen renting a mobile phone.. And where I could do this. And lastly (sorry, very flustered traveller here), could anyone tell me what the situation is like in regards to ATMs? I am planning on taking my bank card (Cirrus...which I have heard will be of practically no use), and a credit card. (and cash of course.) How easy is it to find an ATM that will take my credit card, and what kinds of places accept credit cards? Thank you! |
