Vladivostok Bus from Vladivostok to Beijing
Posted: Tue July 22, 2008 02:30 AM UTC
My wife and I are interested in taking a cruise ship from Alaska to Vladivostok, spending a few days in Vladivostok --prinicipally to visit the Catholic Vladmission-- and then to travel on to Beijing, and from there to fly home. There is only one cruise ship per year from Alaska, and it arrives in Vladivostok approximately September 30. (Besides having the adventure of travelling across China, it is much cheaper to fly from Beijing than from Vladivostok). Does anyone have information on if it is possible to do this bus trip, and if so, what is involved in getting the necessary visas? We are Canadian citizens.

Thank you for your assistance.

Ron

P.S. I have an amateur radio licence and was wondering if anyone knows of any Russian radio amateur operators in Vladivostok? My callsign is VE6FV.

Vladivostok Homestays
Posted: Wed April 23, 2008 12:30 PM UTC
My friend and I are looking for accommodation at the end of July, and we're rather surprised by how high the prices are for even budget rooms. Twice the price of what we're paying in Tokyo! Can anyone recommend homestays or how to find them?

Thanks!

Vladivostok Vladivostok from Shanghai
Posted: Mon January 7, 2008 05:26 AM UTC
Some questions:

1. How to get to Vladivostok from Shanghai? Any flights? Is train an option?

2. How to get a visa (for US and/or PRC nationals)?

3. Why should someone want to see that city/area? Or shouldn't they?

An address & telephone number & rough price would be great!

Vladivostok Any budget guesthouse or University dorms - around US$20 to $30?
Posted: Sun August 19, 2007 05:43 AM UTC
I will be in Vladivostok in early September 2007 and hope to stay for up to two weeks. Is it possible (with ISIC STUDENT CARD) to stay at any university dorm rooms or such like for 2 week? Perhaps for $50 a week or so?
Otherwise, what is the absolute cheapest option on a wekly basis?
I really do not want to be paying $50 a night...
Thanks!

Where would I find a nice steam bath place in Vlad? Are they separate for men and women? I just want a good steam and don't want to be bothered - not looking for company - just relaxation! What are the local handicrafts of the region?

Hey all,

I'll be heading to Vladivostok with a group of friends in about 2 days.

Since I drew the short straw, I'm in charge of getting this information which isn't so simple at all.

So I appreciate any helps from you guys and any nice spots to visit for a group of teenagers visiting.

Thanks in advance

we are planing a trip to the Primorsky region to look for my family. They are from the Valdivostok/Ussuriysk/Nikolskoye area. Their name is Tonexa/Topekha. We are trying to locate people in the area with the same surname to try and trace our family.
Does anyone have any idea how we start to trace them?
What is the best time of year to travel as we will be travelling sometime in 2007?

Vladivostok From Vladivostok (Khasan) to Pyongyang, North Korea, by train
Posted: Wed May 17, 2006 09:50 AM UTC
Hi!

I have been for the last two months arranging a trip consisting basically in going from Helsinki, where I live, to Vladivostok by train and then to North Korea.

The problem is that I just want to be 3 days there (it is SO expensive) and apparently the only way to go there is by plane, which departs only once a week in each direction.

I'm begging for help as the travel agencies I have been asking for have more or less making me lose my time, and now I'm in a hurry since the whole trip will be from 16th of June to 21st of July, and I only have three weeks to make the visa (in Stockholm, Sweden), but before, I need to agree the dates.

My question is:
- Do you know the dates/times of departures of trains from Vladivostok or Khasan to Pyongyang? And prices?
- The same in the opposite direction.

I need this information in order to state the exact entry and departure date for North Korea, but since the last month I have been asking travel agencies and I only got partial answers (such as, "yeah! there are two trains a week from Khasan", ok, but which days??) which doesn't allow me to decide one specific date.

Please, to the ones living in Vladivostok, help!

Thank you very much!

Vladivostok Japan to Vladivostok - May 2006
Posted: Mon June 27, 2005 02:56 PM UTC
Hi everyone
I'm planning a trip from Australia to Japan, then from there to Vladivostok with the aim of going on the Trans-siberian railway all the way through to Mosocow, St Petersburg and on through the rest of Europe, with the aim of eventually working for a year or so in Germany or the UK.

I'm interested in finding out if anyone has caught a ferry from Japan to Vladivostok and how this was? Am I better off just trying to find a flight over?

Also I'm keen to hear about any experiences traveling through Russia - what are the main things to watch out for? Is it safe to travel independently? Sooo many questions!!!

Vladivostok Vladivostok to Moscow Air Prices
Posted: Fri June 10, 2005 08:23 PM UTC
What websites or methods have people used to book a one way air ticket between Vladivostok and Moscow? The cheapest I have found with Aeroflot is $635.
Has anyone found a cheaper flight with either Aeroflot or another airline and how did you book it?

Also Siberia Air requires a short stop over. Since the timing of Russian planes is not to be trusted would I be better to pay a bit extra and go direct?

Any info much appreciated
Thanks
