Acapulco One day in Acapulco
Posted: Fri January 25, 2008 05:43 PM UTC
Hello all, My husband & I will be Acapulco for one day, coming in via cruise ship. I was in Acapulco twenty years ago with girlfriends after graduating college and loved it. What should we do for the day?? I know we must see the cliff divers, but the ship will be in port from 10:00 am to 1:00am. He loves the water, I love the beach any suggestions would be great. Thanks Ginny

Acapulco city tours from the cruise terminal
Posted: Mon November 5, 2007 08:14 PM UTC
I'm going to be in Acapulco for an afternoon and evening, arriving at noon on a cruise ship. My mother wants to take a city tour that includes the cliff divers. My sister is phobic about not booking it through the cruise line because she doesn't want to overpay. I've heard about someone called Rosie, but I can't find any contact info for her on the internet. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Acapulco Currency in Acapulco
Posted: Wed October 24, 2007 11:31 AM UTC
We've been to Mexico before and never had to worry about local currency - dollars have sufficed. Is this also true for Acapulco? We will only be there a day before boarding a cruise-ship. Thanks.

What is an economical way to get to the divers. What are the best viewing places? Any specific restaurants? Should one reserve in advance? Thank you so much. Diane

Acapulco Confusing... Please Help
Posted: Tue October 2, 2007 01:57 AM UTC
I've read a few reviews and I am seeing quite a bit more so-so reviews than I expected. I'm a corporate pilot and we're going to Acapulco on Oct 18 for 3 nights. Looking for something close to a happening club, nice hotel with a view and a balcony, not outrageous expensive, and with a fantastic pool. Any recommendations? Thank you!

Acapulco Gay acapulco?
Posted: Tue August 28, 2007 01:38 AM UTC
My friend and I visited Puerto Vallarta last year and had a blast.

Would like to visit somewhere else in Mexico.

Anyone think Acapulco is worth a visit?

We're looking for something less American touristy, with a nice Mexican vibe, not too pricey, but still safe and fun.

Thanks in advance.

Acapulco Cheap accommodation
Posted: Thu April 5, 2007 11:55 AM UTC
Hello,

I am going to Acapulco with a friend for a week in the end of May. Our budget is very limited so we are looking for something cheap but pleasant, with a shower ensuite and preferably with a refrigerator. I read about Villa Romana (Av. López Mateos 185), but it seems it is not possible to book it online. Does anyone know about some nice place for up to about 40 US dollars per room? No need to be in the touristic area.

Thank you,

Katya

Acapulco Aquarium
Posted: Mon March 26, 2007 06:57 PM UTC
We are cruising the Mexican Riveria with our two children, 12 and 13, as well as their grandparents. We have one day and evening in Acapulco, December 26th. I was wondering about the Waterpark/Aquarium since no one else appears to have mentioned it. I know by that point, they may be a bit exhausted of history, local shopping and "proper behavior". My idea was to do the waterpark early and then catch the cliff divers at sunset. Is this remotely a good idea? I also cannot find any prices for the waterpark. How crowded does it get? Any comments would be appreciated. From what I have heard Acapulco can be a bit intimidating when you first arrive with vendors and beggars and we want to have somewhat of a plan in place before arriving. Thanks.

Acapulco One Day in Acapulco
Posted: Mon January 29, 2007 01:47 PM UTC
Hi,
Will only be in Acapulco one day, departing a cruise ship, and leaving very early the next moring for a 7:00 am flight. I have been reading this forum and learned than the downtown (zocalo area) will be very close to the cruise ship.
Unfortunately, I'll have my luggage with me and won't be able to sightsee until I drop it at a hotel, but I'll probably want to head back to this area for the day.
Can anyone suggest a safe inexpensive hotel for the night, close enough for sightseeing and an early dinner (walking distance would be great, but not essential), but even more importantly, easy enough to get a cab at 5:00 am the next morning?
Probably should also ask if it is possible to reserve a taxi for that time, and how reliable that might be.
I am single, traveling solo, so safety is also of importance to me.
Thanks,
Jeana

Acapulco Acapulco first timer
Posted: Tue January 2, 2007 04:26 AM UTC
My husband and I are going on a trip to Acapulco, specifically staying in the Mayan Palace in a couple weeks. Does anyone know what the weather is like this time of year (January). And are there a lot of people visiting at this time of year? We don't want it to be too busy, but we also don't want to be the only ones at the hotel. Has anyone ever stayed at the Mayan Palace there? We will be staying a week so we'll have lots of time to do things, any suggestions? We have been to Puerto Vallarta/Nuevo Vallarta and Ixtapa in the past few years during Spring Break time and are used to that kind of atmosphere. Is it similar in Acapulco? Are there any negative things we should be aware of there? Thank you.

Any information would be usefull.
Also, any recommendation on hotels for a group of single guys?. In the past I stayed at the Plaza and Fiesta Americana.

Acapulco New Years 2007 Hotel Recommendation??
Posted: Fri November 17, 2006 09:57 PM UTC
My boyfriend and I (early 30's) and a bunch of his friends are planning a trip to Acapulco this New Years - non of us have kids. We'd like an atmosphere with a mixture of party (his friends are closer to 25) and relax (I don't want to be surrounded by 18-30 year olds). We're definately hitting up seeing DJ Tiesto at the Palladium both nights! But after new years want to chill a bit. We also want a decent size pool with nice grounds. Any suggestions?

Is it true that the Divers in Acapulco eat the dangerous tarantulas or whatever crawling poisonous creatures that are found in the rocks going up to the dive platform in order to build up immunity to a bite from these creatures?? Will be visiting Acapulco in December. Steve Weiss (smweiss@globalwater.com)

Acapulco Yate Bonanza Sunset bay and cliff diver cruise tour
Posted: Mon September 25, 2006 07:27 PM UTC
Hello, I'm arriving by cruise ship on Sunday, 8Oct. I'm interested in taking a combination sunset and cliff diver tour. The name Yate Bonanza cruise keeps coming up on the internet but I cannot find a website and the phone number doesn't seem to work from the U.S. Can anyone tell me the departure time, price, where tickets can be purchased, what is included? I have also heard you can buy tickets from local hotels and street vendors, is this true?

Here is a copy of what I have found;
"Yate BonanzaCostera Miguel Alemᮬ (Muelle Central), Acapulco, Mexico
Tel: +52 744 835981

Like most of the yachts, Bonanza tours to Acapulco Bay and La Quebrada. What makes this yacht different is the restaurant-bar service with music, swimming pool and the chance to swim in the open sea. Another advantage here is the night party on weekends and holidays, where guests can enjoy a romantic evening. The cost includes an open bar of Mexican drinks, live and recorded music, as well as a Hawaiian dance show. On the morning cruise, a breakfast buffet is included"

Appreciate your help.

Acapulco Need a bus/large van for 10 persons to from cruise terminal to see the cliff divers
Posted: Sun September 17, 2006 08:56 PM UTC
I am arriving by cruise ship on 8Oct at 11am with my family. I would like to rent a large van/small bus for 10 persons, 6 adults and 4 children to see the cliff divers and then maybe a small city tour with a drop off in town and/or a return back to the ship. I'm curious if this would be cheaper than renting 2-3 taxis or 2 large vehicles at the cruise terminal.

Can anyone help me with this?

Thank you,

David

Acapulco Best time of year to view sunset?
Posted: Thu September 7, 2006 05:11 PM UTC
Hello,
I was wondering at what time of the year is the best time to view the sunset?
I was told at a certain time of the year that the sunsets are awesome, that the combination of the sun, sky and ocean are a site to see.
Thanks,

Acapulco Restaurant Name???
Posted: Sun July 9, 2006 07:07 PM UTC
I was in Acapulco with my family about 6 or 7 years ago and we ate at this beautiful restaurant in town. I am now going back to Acapulco to get married but can't remember the name of this restuarant. I wanted to have my wedding reception dinner there.
Can anyone help me?
Here is what I remember about it....
The restaurant felt like you were eating a gardern. It was outdoors, very beautiful inside, surrounded by a large garden. It was in town(main hotel area) and it was an upscale resturant. We had about 5 waiters serving us, excellent service and food.
