Cancún WILL MY ELECTRICAL ITEMS WORK IN CANCUN
Posted: Fri April 11, 2008 04:16 PM UTC
please can someone help me,
me and my wife are going to cancun on 27th may, we have never been before, and i have been told that possibly some of my electrical items may not work when we get there, because the voltage supply is united states. 110 volts.i was told that if the items i have, ie, camcorder, camera, ipod, personal dvd player,my wifes hair straightners, have a 110-240 volts supply they will work. the problem is that half of the items do have that supply on the plug, but the other half have only 240 volts written on the plug. we do know that we have to get a plug adapter with flat pins on it for use in the united states, this we have got, will this be enough, or do we need something else in order to make these items work. thankyou for any help. steve and nicola. from england / united kingdom.

Cancún Goin' to Cancun
Posted: Sun April 6, 2008 03:08 AM UTC
Ok, I've read everything I can get my hands on about Cancun, but I still have a few questions.

First, I enjoy a good cigar from time to time, I'm assuming I can buy Cuban's in Cancun, correct?

Second, Yes I like going to strip clubs lol, there a great place to have a drink and not be bothered, so I'm also assuming they have strip clubs in Cancun. Which one's, where are they, how much is the cover charge, do you have to buy the girls a drink, and what to look out for (scams)? I'm not looking for a cheap dive, but I'm also not going to spend every dime I have in there either.

Thanks everyone for your help it's greatly appreciated,
Brian

Cancún cigarettes and marijuana
Posted: Tue March 25, 2008 11:55 PM UTC
I have heard that marijuana and other drugs were legalized in Mexico but I can't find out much on the internet. It isn't that big of a deal to me but it would be fun if it was legal - I don't want to take any chances if it is illegal. Secondly, can you buy U.S. cigarettes in Mexico? If not, how many packs am I allowed to bring in with me?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Cancún Walk-in Hotel or Unguaranteed reservation
Posted: Mon March 24, 2008 08:46 AM UTC
I might have to overnight in Cancun in few days. I don't want to book a hotel because I won't really know if I need to stay till the day before or so. So if I do, what hotel in the $60 range would be a good bet to walk into. I can do with a shared bath, but not a dorm room. Thanks.

Cancún Transportation around the Yucatan region
Posted: Sun March 23, 2008 04:17 PM UTC
Hi,

As part of a trip through the Americas I will be in Mexico in late August (not ideal because of the hurricane season but that's just the way it worked out).

Q.1 I only have 6 days in the Yucatan region. I would like to go to Cancun, Tulum, Valladolid and Chichen Itza. Is it easy enough to get transport between these areas or is it recommended to book ahead, if so how.

Q.2 Should I be worried that I will be there during Hurricane season? How often do they occur?

Thanks

Cancún documents
Posted: Sun March 23, 2008 03:27 AM UTC
Wife and i will be arriving Cancun around 5:00pm. Overnighting in Cancun and then flying to Havana the next afternoon. Does anyone have any information about what tourist documents I will need to buy. I heard that if my stay in Cancun was 24 hrs or less that I did not have to pay departure tax leaving Mexico.

Any info appreciated.

Cancún Who's going?
Posted: Sat March 22, 2008 09:36 PM UTC
I originally booked a trip to Cancun with a friend, but they backed out at the last minute. So I booked the trip anyhow, just me. I don't mind going alone, but it would be nice to have a few people to hang out with when I get there. It really sucks eating alone.
I want to go out to the bars and clubs, a little site seeing, water sports, horse back riding on the beach, parties, anything fun.
I'll be there May 16 thru May 25. If anyone's interested in meeting up just let me know, and I'll tell you which resort I'm staying at. Also, if anyone has any suggestions or opinions about Cancun please let me know, this will be my first trip there, and I want to have a great time.
Thanks everyone,
Brian

Cancún Hire a driver to Chichen Itza and Uxmal
Posted: Fri March 14, 2008 01:58 PM UTC
I am planning a trip to Mexiko and due to tight schedule I have only 1 day for Chichen Itza and Uxmal. I would like to start from Mayan riviera soon in the morning and come at 8 am to chichen, where to spend 3 hours, then travel to Uxmal (there 1 and half hour), and then to Merida airport. I would like to know, whether it is possible to hire a driver (with a car) for 1 day, which will take me from Cancun (or other place of Mayan riviera) through Chichen Itza and Uxmal to Merida. How much could it cost and where can i find a contact to some drivers?

Is there any possibility for a one or two day trips to Tikal (Flores) from Cancun?
I realize, that once there was a daily flight operated by Aviateca for around 270 $ (round trip), but unfortunately, Aviateca was liquidated...

Cancún The Best of Cancun
Posted: Tue February 26, 2008 03:26 AM UTC
Hello...me and a group of friends (10 guys- grad school and young professionals) are heading to Cancun next month for spring break. It'll be our first visit to Cancun. I live in New York City. Whenever friends come to visit me, I'm happy to show them the NYC that I know and love (far beyond visiting the Statue of Liberty or the Empire State Building). So my question is, can any locals or those that frequently go to Cancun share with me "places" or "things to do" that would make our trip to Cancun pretty cool. Basically, if you have friends coming to spend a week in Cancun with you, where would you take them to party, what restaurants/bars/dive would you dine at, what would you tell them that they have to do or see before they leave Cancun (both touristy and non-touristy).

Thank you in advance for reading my post. I look forward to reading your responses. And if any of you are coming to visit NYC, let me know and I'll be more than happy to give you a list of things to do and see.

Do you have any ideas where to book?

Cancún After Spring Break?
Posted: Fri February 22, 2008 03:23 PM UTC
A group of us are leaving for Cancun on April 17th of this year. We are staying at the Me hotel. Here's my question: Since this is after spring break will it be nice and quite or will there still be alot of tourist and travelers around at that time? Also has anyone stayed at the ME Hotel and if you have is it nice? I heard it is very expensive as far as the bars and restraunts in the hotel goes. Is this true?

Thanks for your reply:

Cancún Four Questions on Cancun - incl Coba, Transport and the Riviera Maya!
Posted: Wed February 6, 2008 09:54 AM UTC
I'm going to Mexico for a wedding. I am spending two nights and one day in Cancun before I meet up with the wedding party, in the Riviera Maya (Karisma Hotel Resort).

1. I'm a female travelling alone in Cancun - any advice?
2. Are the buses from the airport easy to find and will they stop at my hotel in Cancun if I ask?
3. I would like to spend my free day in Coba, what is the easiest way to get there by public transport, as I don't drive?
4. I then need to get to the resort in the Riviera Maya from Cancun. What is the cheapest and easiest way to go about this? Are there buses? I've been quoted on shuttles but they seem extortionate!

Thanks!!
