Mexico City driving mexico city to laredo, texas
Posted: Thu November 6, 2008 11:39 PM UTC
WE ARE TWO USA CITIZENS WITH FM2 IMMAGRADO MEXICAN DOCUMENTS AND ONE MEXICAN CITIZEN WITH USA VISA WHO PLANNING ON DRIVING FROM MEXICO CITY TO LAREDO, TEXAS. WE WILL BE DRIVING A MEXICAN REGISTERED CAR. MY QUESTION: DOES ANYONE KNOW THE TRAVEL DOCUMENTS AND CAR DOCUMENTS THAT WE NEED FOR CROSSING INTO THE USA AND THEN RETURNING TO MEXICO AFTER A COUPLE OF WEEKS. BY AIR THE FM2´S ARE USED AND WE ARE GIVEN PAPERS AT THE MEXICAN AIRPORT WHICH ARE USED TO LEAVE AND RETURN. THE MEXICAN CITIZEN USES HIS MEXICAN PASSPORT AND USA VISA TO LEAVE AND RETURN. (1) IS THE SAME ROUTINE FOLLOWED WHEN TRAVELING BY LAND? (2) WHAT ABOUT CUSTOM REGULATIONS WHEN TRAVELING BY LAND AS I HAVE HEARD THEY ARE DIFFERENT FROM AIR TRAVELERS.
(3) THE CAR HAS MEXICAN INSURANCE BUT WHAT USA REQUIREMENTS CONCERNING AUTO INSURANCE.

Mexico City Do you thonk this is do-able?
Posted: Sun August 3, 2008 12:07 AM UTC
Hi,
my sister and I will be in Mexico City for only 5 days. We know there are a few things we want to do and before we put more on our plate I want to know if this a practical lists of "must sees". We would like to see Teotihuacan, Zolaco (Cathedral, National Palace, Templo Mayor etc....)Capultepec Park, Coyacan (Frida Kahlo House, Deigo Rivera museum), Xochimilco(floating gardens, canals). We also want to see the Basilicade SantaMaria de Guadalupe.
My question is. Is this too much for our 5 days? Do we possibly have time to see something else? What?
Also what is on our list that really isnt worth spending much time at to make room for something else?
Thanks in advance for all your help.
Michelle.

Mexico City mexico city subway
Posted: Mon July 28, 2008 02:32 PM UTC
Hello, I land at 11pm at night (hopefully) at mexico city intl. I'm planning to overnight at the hilton inside the airport and take the subway next morning to the downtown. My hotel is located by the cathedral. is it safe to take the subway from the airport if I only have a carry on bag? I won't look fancy or anything, just normal. this may sound stupid, but in 1998 when I was in Mexico city it felt a bit like san Paolo,so I wanna make sure I'm doing things in security, since it's a pleasure trip.

thanks in advance

Mexico City Mexico City - Middle Class
Posted: Wed April 30, 2008 03:05 PM UTC
Hola,

I will be visiting Mexico City to attend a photojournalism workshop June 15-22. Having done some research the middle class seems to be growing in Mexico City, people that have own their homes, have a car, access to credit, can afford to raise a family, and have a few pesos left over, etc.

For the workshop we have to come up with an idea for a story that we want to tell through pictures. I think enough has been focused on street kids and drug gangs. Maybe they are more hardcore, but I would like to focus on something positive and that most people in the US are not aware of.

I am hoping to find a typical Mexico City middle class family that would let me into their world to see how they live, for a few days. Of course I have a hotel and it would not be 24x7 as I'll be spending much of the time in the class room, too.

If you know of a family that you think would like to participate in the project, or if you fit the bill, I would love to hear from you. Or if you have any suggestions for other photojournalism projects. I would be glad to provide the participant with a DVD of fantastic image of their family and their life, free of charge.

Gracias,

Douglas

Mexico City Affordable Hotels with A/C
Posted: Sat April 26, 2008 03:27 AM UTC
Hola,

I'll be visiting Mexico City June 15-22 and I'm looking for an affordable hotel close to Rio Sena, Zona Rosa area I guess. I would like to find a place for $50 or less for a single room, but few in that range seem to offer air conditioning (which is a must for me). Any suggestions?

Cheers,

Mexico City flying to mexico city
Posted: Fri April 25, 2008 11:54 PM UTC
I am flying to mexico city in July, and travelling, probably by bus, to Torreon. My plane arrives at midnight. I am trying to decide whether I should hang in the airport and catch the 7 a.m. bus to Queretaro, and there catch a bus to Torreon, or take a taxi to Terminal Norte and catch a northbound bus from there. I am meeting people, and have no desire on this trip to spend any more time than is necessary in Mexico city. If I do go to terminal Norte, what are my chances of getting a bus in the middle of the night? It seems difficult to find online schedules. If I end up sitting on a bench at either the airport or the bus terminal until morning, which of those two places would be preferable? Is there a restaurant open all night at either place?
