I will be in Mexico City for 4 days in June and I would like to take a food tour to try culinary delights that I wouldn't normally know about otherwise. Can anyone recommend any tours?

Is there a theatre industry in Mexico and if so, what is there on offer for English speaking audiences? Besides Frida Kahlo, what other art or renowned artists does Mexico have to offer?

Because we are in a very narrow budget, we came across this particular hotel...We are thinking of booking at this budget hotel, EL EJECUTIVE, located at Viena 8 Col Jurez. Is it a recommendable, clean hotel, safe location?
Can you tell us how to get to this hotel from the international airport by metro? Is it safe, as we will be arriving 4:30 very early morning.
Arriving Mexico this very early, after breakfast, what is there yet to do, as we understand the hotels in Mexico's check in are after 3 in the afternoon...is there such a think locking luggages somewhere in the city?
Thank you so very much!!

Dear VT'ers,
THANK YOU FOR TAKING YOUR TIME READING OUR POST!
Please give us your opinion as this will be our first time to visit Mexico City. Our wish is to find a clean, conviently located or centrally located, safe and budget accommodation. Just as long as this has it' meets what we are looking for, we are easy travellers, but on a budget as our visit to Mexico City is really an excapade for my wife's celebrating her birthday and this was her wish to visit the GUADALUPE CHURCH (the original church). We normally hear mass daily, so, the closer we are to the church the more wonderful our plan is molding.
Through internet, we came across this AIR BNB located at La Condesa. It charges forty dollars for the two of us. How centrally located is this area?
What we were wishing for is living with a family as this will costs as much less and yet get local tips. To us it is important to have our own bathroom to find ourselves more comfortable.
Should anyone out there have any suggestions we certainly appreciate it very much.
As soon as we are booked with accommodation, we then can move forward and we wish to start a
VT MEETING (does anyone have a good suggestion of a centrally, safe location to hold our VT MEETING?
We can't wait for our arrival in Mexico City, it's always been my wish to visit Mexico City.
THANK YOU ONE AND ALL!

I am taking my wife to Mexico City for her birthday (next month-April). We live in Spain and are use when traveling we stay in a B&B - that would be centrally located and above all clean, own bathroom and affordable. Would anyone had experience on staying at a B&B in Mexico City and how. Uh does it cost per night?
We are not sure if staying in a hotel is mo recommendable as this is our first time to visit Mexico City.
Any helpful advise would be greatly appreciated for this matter.

Hello!
Any preferences for a good street map for Mexico City. I often use the map set that is in my DK Eyewitness Guide, but the guide I have is for Mexico, not Mexico City, so there is an abbreviated map in a smaller section that covers Mexico City.
I looked up Streetwise maps for reviews online, and while convenient, the maps do not get a great review because they apparently leave a lot of details.
I like to plot specific restaurants on my map before I go, so I prefer a map that shows all the streets.
What do to!
Thanks.

Hi!
I'm going to Mexico City at the end of March. I am having trouble finding information online about what performing arts (orchestra, opera, plays, ballet, etc.) will be going on during the last of March and beginning of April. When I go to Ticketmaster.com.mx, for example, I can only find events listed until the end of February. Is this normal?
Any suggestions for other online sites that can tell me what events will be put on when I am visiting?
I am concerned about tickets for events not being available when I arrive.
I'd like to know , for example what is going on at the Bellas Artes, but also, it would be lovely to attend some church concerts. How do I find out this information now?
I'd also like to know if I can purchase tickets directly from the box office from such places such as Bellas Artes to avoid a Ticketmaster charge.
Thanks.

Has anybody attended Guadalupe's feast day at the Basilica? Do you have any words of advice for me? I feel very much at home in Mexico City, so I think I'm ready to take on the challenge of the huge crowds I've read show up for this day. I know a a lot of pickpockets will be there and I'm prepared for that, and I've read the subway won't be stopping at La Villa as it usually does so the walk to the Basilica from the Metro will be longer than usual, and that's not a problem. Besides a couple of You Tube videos I've watched of December 12, that's about the extent of my 'knowledge.' I will appreciate anything you can tell me about what to expect. Thank you.

I have to be in mexico city during aug 28th - sept 9th.
I have never been there and do not speak spanish.
MC has been on my bucket list but now that i can a chance to see it for free (work related) I am actually scared.
not sure how safe it is
is it hot? I was checking the weather.com and I was shocked it said 78 high for the day, are u serious, I am in dallas tx and it has been over 100+ for months.
so do ppl going to work wearing pants or skirts, during weekend can I wear shorts?
I prob need umbrella and sunblock right?
is it safe? it is summer time so it is not like i can wear a lot of layer cloth with some pockets inside to hide stuff, what to do during summer time?
should i only bring my point and shoot camera and leave my professional one at home to not draw attention?
if I eat some small restaurant place do they only ask for cash for peso or can I pay via $$?
and use my debit card?
is it safe to walk around during the weekend or I need to hire a local travel gruop for sight scene?

Hi! What's the best (and by that I also mean cheapest)way to buy tickets for classical musical concerts, live theater, opera, etc?
I am on a budget, so any information on cheap or free venues, like churches would also be appreciated.
Lastly, are prices for more or less equivalent events the same or less expensive than in the U.S.A.
Thanks.

Hi!
Thanks everyone for the help you have already given me with the previous questions I have posted.
I like to visit smaller cities or towns that are in contrast to a large city as well. Any suggestions for day trips from Mexico City? I have already visited Teotihuacan, Cuernavaca, and Tlaxco, so would like to see some other places.
Thanks.

I'm probably going to Mexico City - I'm thinking I'd like to go in the winter when it is cold here. Would be traveling with my wife.
I have never been to Mexico, but have traveled some. In Eastern Europe, one could often have good luck just showing up and usually people at the train station offered room and board in their private homes. It was a good way to meet people and usually pretty affordable.
Does a similar culture exist in Mexico City? I'd want something fairly central. I'd be flying into the airport.

I will be in Mexico city for 3 days in mid May. Having read some of the past posts I am thinking of staying in Zona Rosa rather than Centro. I am not looking for great night life but I like to go for a walk after dinner and it seems that Centro is not all that much of an evening place.
I am interested in seeing all the historical sites, however but it seems that I could walk to these from Zona Rosa anyway.
I would value your thoughts on this plan - also your recommendations on a good 4 star hotel
Thanks

Hi, I understand that the bus to Queretero leaves from the airport. Can anyone give me some directions on how to find the bus station? Also I read that it's useful to hire a porter and have him take me to the station, what would I expect to pay for that?
Thanks for your replies
