Isla Cozumel Rates for diving on Cozumel
Posted: Fri September 16, 2005 10:09 AM UTC
Hi everybody,
I'm going to Cozumel in November, interesting in diving. I wonder how much is dive day (2 dives) there, how does it look like (shore dives or dive trips(boat), how much is intro diving (for a friend of mine who is not a certyficated diver but eager to try) and so on.
Thanks a lot in advance for any help.

Isla Cozumel Seeking Adults Only, All-Inclusive....
Posted: Fri August 26, 2005 03:49 AM UTC
Greetings,
Wife and I are planning a trip to the Cozumel or Riveria Maya area, and are having a hard time finding a certain type of resort to meet our wishes. We are seeking an adults only, all-inclusive resort located on a nice long beach for walking. Wife enjoys sunning topless(or nude) whilst on vaca, so we are looking for a place where this is common practice. Although we are not seeking a swingers style resort such as Desires, or Hidden Beach, public dispays of affection would add to the erotic nature of our vacation. Snorkeling right at the resort property would also be desirable. Does anybody know of such a resort like this? Thank You very much in advance. GrandPohba@aol.com

Isla Cozumel age limit for bar/restaurants?
Posted: Tue August 16, 2005 07:26 PM UTC
We are getting together a large group for a 10 day stay early next year. All couples-most with kids. Since some of us have ended up caretaking at the hotel while the rest go to a bar, I was wondering if Mexico has an age restriction for minors to be in a bar/cantina. I don't drink, I just don't want to split up the group if we stop at a bar, especially the ones on the beaches during the daytime.
If we have to, I just want to be prepared.

Isla Cozumel Cruise ship Shore Excursions
Posted: Sun August 7, 2005 05:21 PM UTC
Although I have already posted this under the "Caribbean" forum, I thought I should narrow the search and post under the individual city or Island.

We have 1 day in Cozumel. What is the best thing to see and do in that short period of time. What should we not miss?

Thank you,
Carol.

Isla Cozumel Dreaded Cruise--tips on private excursions, tourguides,etc...?
Posted: Thu May 5, 2005 02:29 PM UTC
In early August, I will take a family cruise for the first time. We will stop in Grand Cayman, Belize, Roatan ( Honduras), and Cozumel. Of course, the ship offers shore excursions, but I would prefer a local guide if possible ( and if prudent). I realize it is in the cruise line's best interest to scare passengers from taking anything but ship-sponsored tours, but I am also well aware of the local economics and would prefer to employ a private individual or company for excursions. Can anyone out there give me any tips or advice on such things?...or tips on must-see, must-do, must buy, or stay-away-from things? Thanks for any help or referrals you can offer.

Isla Cozumel Good Mexican food in Cozumel?
Posted: Sun April 17, 2005 05:52 PM UTC
We're heading to Cozumel for the 3rd Christmas in a row. What we've never found is a good Mexican restaurant with traditional regional cuisine. Something that features things like mole, guisado, poc chuc or menudo as opposed to pesto crab quesadillas. Please help us escape frozen entrees and tourist traps. Looking for something off the beaten path. Recommendations on good street food and food stands at the local markets welcome, too. Thanks.

Thanks

Isla Cozumel re: Grand Cozumel
Posted: Wed December 22, 2004 11:51 AM UTC
Hola amigos!! Sorry just practicing. I am new to VT and so far, I am very impressed. Some awesome info in this forum so thank you. Now, i haven't read much about the Grand, anyone been there? I read the beaches aren't so hot, but snorkeling should kick a**?? Is it better to rent a car vs a moped? Are there problems with 'sandfleas'? I sadly travelled during hurricane Ivan and had quite a dreadful experience so I am trying to make this the 'bestest' all inclusive yet. Any suggestions? I am brining my own snorkeling gear as that is my passion. Any words on the barracuda? In Kuauai, I actually swam against a bunch of them, tried to touch them, while wearing lots of jewelry, and mercifully didn't get hurt. I now know what they are-do they pose much of a threat there? Better to carry a knife? Or too shiny. are they attracted to underwater cameras? Sorry, so many questions but I am stoked out of this world. After all, it is Jacques Cousteau's favourite!! Happy Festivus/Holiday's everyone!!

Isla Cozumel Money

What do you guys do with the money and cards when you go to the beach? What about cameras and camcorders? Do you leave them on the beach alone? Do you alternate to go swimming? Is it dangerous to leave the stuff alone?

Isla Cozumel we are visiting starting Christmas day :)
Posted: Sat December 18, 2004 02:39 PM UTC
If anyone lives in Cozumel or visits often we have some questions for ya. We don't find any mention of being able to cash travelers checks. Also we would like to know of suggestions on what might be going on New Years Eve. Is it a big celebration there? If any of my fellow Virtual Tourist members are going to be there maybe we could hang out for a day. Might be fun to chat as we have traveled most everywhere. Hope to hear back from ya!

Isla Cozumel I need a hotel reccomendation
Posted: Mon December 13, 2004 07:27 PM UTC
I would like anyone with experience with cozumel hotels to give me some feed back . I am planning to go in july w/my wife and 12 and 14yr old kids. My 12 yr old son and I are learning to scuba dive and have completed our confined water and need to do our open water test. We would like to go some where that shore diving is possible and not too rocky.Somewhere near channkah lagoon maybe? Also if we could get a private dive master due to the fact that we are kinda nervous. The hotel has to be clean and comfortable to keep the missus and my daughter happy.Anyone try El Presidente or Iberostar??? Any info would be great ! Oh also if it had snorkeling it would be a plus.
Thanks, Ed

Isla Cozumel Any comments on Cozumel?
Posted: Sat October 23, 2004 11:45 PM UTC
Extended family are planning a week long stay at the Iberostar in Cozumel in February and want us to join them. Fellow virtual tourists have given me good advice in the past, so I'd like to hear from anyone familiar with this property. Is it good value for the money? I've heard the beaches in Cozumel are not good - that people travel there mainly for the scuba diving. Any comments would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Isla Cozumel Family Vacation in Coz
Posted: Thu June 10, 2004 02:40 PM UTC
Hi Everyone,
Just found this site and thought I would ask for opinions. We are in the early stages of planning a trip to Coz next May. We have never been there before. The group will consist of myself and my husband, my brother and his wife, and possibly my parents if we can convince them to come with us. We will probably stay in one of the all-inclusives and I am trying to get a feel for which of them will best suit all of our needs. Which resort is close to town, has a sandy beach with good snorkeling/diving, a better than average buffet, and onsite dive op? My parents are in their 60's and good health, but would have difficulty with lots of stairs or rocky beach area with tricky footing.
Thanks!

Thanks Bunches

Isla Cozumel Cancun to Cozumel
Posted: Sat May 22, 2004 06:03 PM UTC
Hi All! Going to Cancun again this August, we were thinking about driving to belize but now I dont think we'll have enough time to enjoy belize so I thought about going to Cozumel for 3 days... We've never been there before, we might stop by for a day while on a cruise next month but I dont think thats enough time to enjoy it .

Question is what is the easiest and cheapest way to get to Cozumel from Cancun? Any hotel recommendations in Cozumel? And do you guys think 3 days is more than enough?

Thanks All!

Hmmm I think I'll post this in the Cozumel Forum too... I just noticed most of my questions were about Cozumel and not Cancun.. lol

Isla Cozumel scuba in mexico
Posted: Mon May 10, 2004 03:07 PM UTC
I'm not certified to dive, but my boyfriend is. We're going to Cozumel and I'd like to try it. What's the deal with the "resort courses"? How do they work and what do they allow you to do? If anybody has taken one, can you tell me about it?
Thanks so much!!
