Isla Cozumel Day Spa
Posted: Sun August 23, 2009 09:51 PM UTC
I'm looking for a good, but not too expensive, day spa in Cozumel. Does anyone have any recommendations? I saw one named Spa Del Sol on 5th in Cozumel. It looked good. Does anyone know it? Thank you so much!

Isla Cozumel how's the weather?
Posted: Sun July 5, 2009 11:45 AM UTC
We arrive in Cozumel in two weeks time- can't wait! How's the weather at the moment? I've looked at alot of weather websites but all they say is things like "heavy rain showers" and they don't say if this means throughout the day, or just usually one heavy shower and then clear. Does anyone know?Anyone there right now? Am starting to think my holiday will be a weather washout!!

Isla Cozumel boat transfer
Posted: Fri June 19, 2009 08:43 PM UTC
We travel to Cozumel in a few weeks time. Fly into Cancun and then get a boat transfer to the island. Does anyone know how long this trip takes? I'm not the best on boats so hoping it won't take that long! Also, how is the water? usually choppy or calm? Thanks!

Isla Cozumel How Many Ruins Can I See in 8 Hrs?
Posted: Fri April 10, 2009 03:11 AM UTC
We're cruising Carnival to Cozumel in one week from today (9th April '09). Originally my bf and I were going to pay $80 each to take the "cruise-ship approved" Tulum tour. However it's like an 8 hr tour just to see that one site, so that limits the time we have to see or do anything on the rest of the island.

I've read thru many posts on here about car rental, taxi or moped on Cozumel to visit San Gervasio, ferries to Playa del Carmen where you can (quickly?) get to Tulum and Chichen Itza, and I'd like to know...Is going to Tulum, Chichen Itza and San Gervasio something we could do on our own in a 6-8 hr time span, allowing us more freedom as well saving us money?

What is the best plan for this? Is it even possible to see all three sites, as well as maybe have some swimming and beach time? How much will those cost? Any advice is welcome. Thanks!

Isla Cozumel Pottery...?
Posted: Fri March 20, 2009 06:48 PM UTC
We have never stayed in Cozumel but have visited numerous beaches throughout Mexico. We are planning our family vacation My 30th - June 6th. One of our favorite things to do is paint pottery and bring them back as our souveniors. I can't seem to find a place that does this on the island and I don't think our resort offers it...any suggestions?

Isla Cozumel visiting in July
Posted: Thu March 5, 2009 05:31 PM UTC
What sort of weather should we expect in Cozumel in July? I've heard it's the rainy season, does that mean its similar to Florida weather where you normally get a storm in the afternoon or are we likely to get completely washed out?!

Also has anyone done the dolphin swim in the national park? How is it? Are the dolphins well cared for or is it tiny enclosures with dolphins crammed inside?Wouldn't want to give them my money if it was the latter.
Thanks!

Isla Cozumel Scooter Rentals
Posted: Mon November 17, 2008 09:40 PM UTC
I just got back from Cozumel and we rented scooters right in front of where our ship docked and everything seemed fine we paid cash for the scooters and the owner took a carbon copy of our credit cards for insurance purpose if we crash the scooters we'd be billed well we didn't crash we returned the scooters and I get home and there was a 230.00$ charge on my card VISA says I cannot dispute because we didn't have receipts showing we paid cash... totally got scammed! beware of scooter rentals! don't give them your credit card for any reason!

Isla Cozumel Cozumel shore excursions
Posted: Sat August 30, 2008 09:38 PM UTC
We are planning a cruise which includes Cozumel as a port of call, and we have never used a tour company not affiliated with cruise line. This time, we would like to try an independent (maybe for fishing or snorkeling) trip, and would like recommendations. Any suggestions?

Isla Cozumel Snorkeling Trip in Cozumel
Posted: Sat May 31, 2008 09:27 PM UTC
Help!!! We booked a snorkeling trip for Cozumel through our hotel in Cancun. We want to use the same "snorkeling boat company" next time we go. I thought we could find out the name of the snorkeling company from the hotel where we booked our tour, but they said they couldn't get the information. If I had known that I would have gotten the name of the snorkeling company while on the boat. All I remember is that guide said they had 3 boats, one was named Samantha II. Does anyone know how I can find out the name of the snorkeling company? Thank you and happy vacationing!

Isla Cozumel dirt cheap accomodations

I'm what many would consider a starving college student. My girlfriend and I are planning a trip to Cozumel after we graduate this fall. I was wondering if anyone could help me with some information about any local hotels? I'm looking for somthing on the order of a few dollars a night. We are only going to have our backpacks and just need a place to keep our stuff and get some sleep at night. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Isla Cozumel East side beach hopping - transportation?
Posted: Sun January 14, 2007 02:17 AM UTC
Hola!
My husband and I are spending a week in Feb, mainly diving. We love the east side for it's wild beaches and laid back atmosphere, and would like to spend a day "hopping" around the east coast without renting a car -- we'd like to enjoy a few drinks and not have to drive. If I remember right, the last time we went to the east side, we took a cab and arranged for him to come back at a certain time to pick us up. That was OK but I am wondering if anyone knows if there are now more taxis on the east side to more easily go from place to place?
Or is there anyone that provides a service to spend a day driving you around the island?
I noticed one tour company that offered a "private tour" of the island for 190 bucks a couple, which included a little more service and somewhat more money than I was thinking of spending...
Any ideas?

Isla Cozumel Upscale hotels in Cozumel
Posted: Tue August 1, 2006 08:33 PM UTC
We have been frequent travelers to Playa del Carmen, usually staying at places like Royal Hideaway or Secrets. When we go in Feb, we would like to consider spending some time in Cozumel (where we've only visited on cruise stops).
Are there any truly upscale properties, whether AI or not?

Isla Cozumel Dolphin Swim - Puerto Aventuras or Chankanaab Park
Posted: Fri July 21, 2006 07:44 PM UTC
We are going on a western Caribbean cruise in the new year and stopping at Cozumel for a day. There seems to be a duplication of excursions offered for "Dolphin Swim/Snorkelling". With a little googling I think I've figured out there is a company called "Dolphin Discovery" which has facilities at both Cozumel's Chanakanaab National Marine Park and also one at Puerta Aventuras on what they call the Mayan Riviera. Both are accessible excursions offered by the cruise on the same day.
My question is, which one is better? If anyone has possibly gone to both at different times or has had a good or bad experience at either - please let me know... thanks!

Isla Cozumel Where to say, close to town, and close to walkable sand beach?
Posted: Mon July 10, 2006 11:38 PM UTC
Hello,

I'm planning a 5-day trip to Cozumel in late November, and want to know where to stay and get the best of both worlds. I'd like to be close enough to walk to town and restaurants (a mile or less) but also be no more than 6-8 blocks to a sand beach that you can walk on for a mile or more. Is there a particular neighborhood or section that offers this? I'm open to a hotel, condo, bed & breakfast or a house rental.

Thanks!

Isla Cozumel Mayan Ruins
Posted: Fri June 23, 2006 03:34 AM UTC
Hi all,
My family and I will be cruis'n in July and Cozumel is on our itineray. Our stop over in Cozumel is only for 9 hrs. We would like to take this opportunity to visit the Mayan ruins in Chichen Itza, but for whatever reason our cruise ship does not offer this excursion. Has anyone here made arrangements on their own to Chichen Itza from Cozumel? If so, how did you go about it and what would you expect to pay for a day trip like this? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Take care for now! Brian

Isla Cozumel Beware Dimonds International stores
Posted: Fri April 28, 2006 05:08 PM UTC
Just wanted to share with all of the wonderful travelers out there my absolutely horrible experience purchasing a watch from a supposedly "reputable" international jeweler. I purchased a watch at Dimonds international in Cozumel and despite the fact that I spent 500 US dollars on it, I got treated like dirt. I asked the sales person whether the watch was available in the US, and that person was very clear about that fact that the watch was NOT available in the states. I made a foolish decision after being lied to and purchased the watch thinking that I probably won't be in cozumel again for who knows how long. When I got back to the states, I found that the watch was being sold at many places. Not only that, Dimond's international claimed that they will save you money due the the whole duty free claim, only to find out that I can get the watch cheaper in the US. I was so angry at myself for purchasing this watch on impuls and tried to return it. Boy was I in for a treat. DI doesn't return or exchange watches. I was treated like absolute dirt by customer service, my calles weren't returned (and I kept having to call back), and I've never had a worse purchase experience in my life. Please beware of this terrible jeweler.
