Guadalajara Best Way to Seek Housing?
Posted: Wed July 9, 2008 10:06 PM UTC
Hi all,

I plan to study in GDL from January to May 2009 and I´m looking for some form of housing, preferably a furnished apartment near the ITESM campus (or near a bus stop that has Tec on its route).

What´s the best way to search listings? The results on Craigslist are pretty bleak, and I´m not sure which local newspapers have listings online. It´s probably too early to start looking for specific leases, but I wanted to get an idea of what´s available.

Both English or Spanish listings are fine.

Thanks :)

Guadalajara charreada
Posted: Thu June 19, 2008 11:17 PM UTC
I have heard that for the next several weeks, there are no Charreadas, perhaps not until cooler weather. Is this true? We are travelling to Guadalajara June 25-July 2. All the information I have found says that every Sunday there is
Charreada at Lienzo Charro de Jalisco at noon. Does anyone have any information? Ed

Guadalajara In need of a great salsa, Tango dance hall.
Posted: Thu February 28, 2008 01:24 AM UTC
My wife and I live in Zapopan and love to dance salsa and tango. We have found a couple places for salsa in Guadalajara. Does anyone know of one in the Zapopan, Guadalajara border area. We live right on the line. We also would like to find a class/ teacher for Tango lessons. We are both in the 45 to 55 age group and enjoy dancing as a fun excuse to exercise and buy cool shoes.

Guadalajara Charradas
Posted: Sun January 27, 2008 03:51 PM UTC
We will be in Puerto Vallarta and Guadalajara the last wewek of June, 2008, (June 19-24; June 24- July 3, respectively). We want to see a Charreada, the Folkloric Ballet, and to hear a symphony concert. Since these are all Sunday events, I wondered if there were other ballet or charreada performances, or if Charreadas are also offered in Puerto Vallarta, our first stop. Any advice? ELPROSKE

Guadalajara How many days should we book to see the Guadalajara area?
Posted: Sun December 30, 2007 07:43 PM UTC
Hi--
My husband and I are going to be in Puerto Vallarta for 7 days. We want to fly into Guadalajara and then eventually take the bus to PV. We plan on staying at a bed and breakfast in Tlaquepaque. We have the option of staying anywhere from 3-5 days to see the Guadalajara area. We are in our 50's just to give you an idea of what type of things we are interested in seeing. We do not spend a lot of time shopping other than to buy some souveniors for our family. We plan on walking through the plazas, taking the Tequila Express tour on a Saturday, and visiting some museums. My husband is a bird watcher and would like to see if he can go on some type of a bird watching tour. I'm not sure how much time we should we should spend in Ajijic, but I would like to go there. I would like to see the Basilica de Zapopan. Does the Teatro Degollado have performances during the day? It sounds like it might be interesting walking through the city parks. I would appreciate suggestions on how many days we should plan for the Guadalajara area. We want to keep busy during our stay there rather than spending time relaxing. We will do that in Puerto Vallarta. Thank you.

I'll be visiting GDL often, so I'm looking for a place where to stay in GDL., i.e. a B&B nice, clean, yet not as expensive as a hotel, from where I can go easily to the Minerva Zone. I'm traveling on my own. My next trip will be from 12/20 thru 12/24. Any help? Thank you.

Guadalajara Christmas in Guadalajara or D.F.
Posted: Thu October 11, 2007 03:56 PM UTC
My fiance and I will be spending a week in Nuevo Vallarta before Christmas and then rent a car for 3-4 weeks. We would like to go to Guadalajara or D.F. for Christmas week and then travel around. We would really like to be somewhat spontaneous on this trip. Is it easy to find hotel rooms in the bigger cities during Christmas and how busy do the coastal towns get during January. Can we find places at the last minute? Would you recommend one city over the other for Christmas sights and sounds?
Thanks everyone!

My wife will be a student at Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara medical school ( ICB ) starting in January 2008. We will have to come down in November or at the latest December to find a place to stay. Any members in the area that can offer a little advice? Perhaps meet and show us a place or two?
Also, where are the Tango Dancers? We love to dance Tango, Salsa and most latin dances, cant wait to get there and dance.

Guadalajara Where to stay
Posted: Thu July 19, 2007 07:21 PM UTC
I will be coming to Guadalajara during Christmastime just to chill out, walk around, see sites, visit shops, eat good food, and not think. I am a middle-aged woman traveling solo. Which is a nicer place to stroll around in - the Tlaquepaque area or the historic center area? Are things open in both areas during the week of Christmas? Thanks for all suggestions and opinions.

I'm going to be doing a summer semester at ITESM in Guadalajara, and need a furnished apartment to stay in from May 20th - July 13th (although possibly just until July 4th... I might do some travelling after that). Does anyone know anywhere where I could stay? Preferably close to ITESM.

Guadalajara Nice studio / 1BR for a month - two needed...
Posted: Tue February 20, 2007 08:40 PM UTC
Hello fellow travelers!

I will be in Guadalajara at the end of February until the end of March, perhaps April. I prefer to be centrally located - I like to walk endlessly, exploring the city - and would like to rent a small space (studio, 1 BR) with the Internet access for the time I am going to be there. All I need is a nice bed and a table where I would work a bit while not exploring.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Guadalajara Guesthouse or temporary hotel suite in Guadalajara
Posted: Sun February 4, 2007 03:02 PM UTC
My two 6 year old twins and I will be arriving in Guadalajara Feb. 14.
Does anyone know of a guesthouse or hotel suite by the week that you'd recommend or someone who has a vacant furnished place during this time? 2 bedrooms are ok. I'd prefer something in the central part of Gdl or not too far
from it. We need to rent something temporary like this for a couple
weeks while I see if the kids adjust to the school I chose and I scout
for somewhere to live longer term. Thanks.

Guadalajara Side Trips to the Beach
Posted: Sat January 27, 2007 10:31 PM UTC
I may find myself living in Guadalajara for a few months. What would be the average cost of taking a weekend trip to the coast to hit the beach? I'd be willing to stay in a hostel or wherever. I'd love an approximate cost that would include two nights in a hostel, transportation, meals and any costs associated with going to the beach. Also, what nice beach areas could I get to easily? I assume Puerto Vallarta, but I don't know any others.

Are there places to swim in/around Guadalajara? Clean lakes or something?

Guadalajara Guadalajara Neighborhoods
Posted: Thu January 18, 2007 04:24 AM UTC
Hello everybody,
My fiance and I are moving to Mexico next year and will be spending some time exploring Guadalajara this April. I'd love to get some recommendations for nice, livable neighborhoods. Are there any artistic bohemian neighborhoods in GDL similar to the East Village/LES in NYC or Condesa in Mexico City? How about colonial areas? Is there much outside Centro or Tlaquepaque?

Thanks for your help!

Guadalajara Can I rent in the historic center of Guadalajara?
Posted: Wed December 27, 2006 08:10 PM UTC
Is it possible to rent in the very center of Guadalajara right next to the Cathedral? I'm coming to Guadalajara on January 10th, 2006 and will stay until March 1st, 2006. Price is not very important to me, my main concern is location.
Can anyone suggest what to do after I arrive. I will go to hotel until I find something. But I want to know what local classified newspaper I should look for, or may be a rental magazine, or may be anyone knows a rental real estate agency which is located right there in the center? Thank you.
