Looking for name of a shop Posted: Mon August 3, 2009 11:13 AM UTC
I was in Rouen on Saturday and went into a great shop with lovely kitchen ware, gifts etc and now hoping to find it on the internet, can anyone help me with a name? If you are standing in front of the cathedral looking down towards Printemps it was on a street leading of the street Printemps is on to the right? Possibly a street going off near the Yves Rocher shop? Can't remember exactly! In the window on Saturday it had toadstool stools and huge tulip and daisy flowers?
Thanks

3months Accommodation Rouen Area Posted: Mon June 22, 2009 07:17 AM UTC
Hi, I want to spend approx 3 months not too far from Paris, but in a place which is a hub so that travel in all directions is easy. Rouen sounds maybe perfect.
I won't have a car, preferring to use public transport.
Anyone know about self-contained accommodation for that period of time. Not too expensive.
Thanks

Train from Rouen to Paris St. Lazare Posted: Sat May 30, 2009 10:26 PM UTC
Hello,
Does anyone know when the earliest train bound for Paris St. Lazare leaves from Rouen? I have a flight at 11h20 out of CDG and I will be coming from Rouen that morning. I know the trip is short (an hour or so) but I need the earliest train out of Rouen so I can get there in time. I would love to know a site where one can look at French train times, the SNCF site is a bit overwhelming and clunky.
Merci mille fois!

Getting about in the Rouen area Posted: Mon May 25, 2009 07:23 PM UTC
Hello,
This summer I will be in Rouen with my family. While we will be based in a hotel in Rouen, we would like to travel around the region somewhat, and do not wish to rent a car. We are interested in hiring either a guide with a minivan (there are six of us) or just a driver to take us to places such as Giverny, Honfleur, Deauville, and the Auge countryside. Has anyone ever done this or does anyone know where to find such a service? I have exhausted travel agencies on line. I asked the owners of the hotel where we are staying and I suppose that they will respond but in the meantime if anyone has any suggestions...My parents are elderly and I don't want them traipsing up and down onto buses and trains. Thanks so much for any and all help you can provide.

public transport options and road travel between rue Mustel and Ecole Primare Clemenceau, Darnetal Posted: Tue December 23, 2008 10:33 AM UTC
Information needed for someone who will be staying in rue Mustel in central Rouen and who will need to get to the primary school Clemenceau, on rue P Lefevre, off Blvd de la Paix, in Darnetal. They will be there between mid-January to mid-February 2009. Is there any public transport between the two, or would it be advisable to drive by own transport? Any helpful information very gratefully received.

Rouen advice for art lovers, recs for budget meals, and what to do on All Saint's Day Posted: Sat July 19, 2008 09:13 PM UTC
My husband I and plan to visit the cathedral in Rouen, as well the Musée des Beaux-Arts. One of our days in Rouen will coincide with the Nov. 1 All Saint's day holiday, and I'm wondering if any locals could recommend a holiday related event we could attend. We would like to visit the Plague Cemetery (Aître St. Maclou), but I am having a hard time telling if it will be open on the holiday. I've emailed the tourist office, and they sent nice brochures my way, but didn't reply to my questions about what will be open on the holidy.
I would love further advice for sights and activities in Rouen. We enjoy art and architecture, and classical music/opera. We won't be using a car, but we like to walk.
We also would like recommendations for low budget meals--we can picnic, too. Fixed priced menus are great, but must be under $15 euro.
Thanks in advance.

Quaint Lodging in Rouen & Bayeux Posted: Fri June 6, 2008 10:52 PM UTC
We are traveling to Rouen at the end of August. We have 2 children (ages 7 & 9) and will be visiting the area for a day and then moving onto Bayeux to see the surrounding area, including Normandy beaches and WWII history with the kids. We'd like to stay close to the city, as we don't want to be in the car driving too much. Being the US dollar isn't worth much, we, Americans, are on a budget. Could anyone suggest a B&B or "homey" lodging for us in Rouen for a night and Bayeux for a night? Thanks!

Normandy beaches from Rouen Posted: Tue February 12, 2008 10:51 PM UTC
I am planning a possible trip to Rouen in April, spending 5 nights. Is it possible to reach the Normandy beaches & cemeteries without using a car? Is there a train or bus to the area from Rouen or Caen? I don't really want a guided tour, but if need be, I would use that. thanks

Question re Amiens, Rouen, and Chartres—which one as a 3 night trip with the others as day trips fro Posted: Fri February 8, 2008 01:49 AM UTC
We plan to visit cathedral towns in April and are trying to decide which one to spend 3 nights in and which to do as day trips from Paris. We would like a town with a lovely medieval pedestrian area to wander around in for our lengthier visit, with our day trips primarily focused on the cathedrals themselves. My current thought is perhaps to do Rouen as the longer visit, with Chartres and Amiens as daytrips from Paris, but I’d appreciate any suggestions. Thank you. Carol

Rouen to Vernon or to Rennes or Caen Posted: Sat April 8, 2006 04:12 PM UTC
We are planning to go from Paris to Rouen in May, stating there overnight.
Is there a bus that could bring us from Rouen to Vernon? I know we can get to Vernon from Paris, but that we would mean we have to go all the way back to Paris and from there go to Vernon, which is just halfway between Rouen and Paris.
Another alternative is to go from Rouen to either Rennes or Caen? Does anyone know if there are buses from Rouen to these destinations and how long is the travel time and cost?

PLEASE HELP me on my driving trip from PARIS to northern NORMANDY!! Posted: Mon May 2, 2005 07:47 PM UTC
Hi VT Family!
In June 2005, I'm driving from Paris to ETRETAT in northern Normandy. (I may or may not stop in HONFLEUR also, depending on how touristy/crowded it is.)
My questions are:
1) DOES ANYONE KNOW A NICE TOWN or smaller city in the area that might be similar to ST. MALO? I LOVE walled cities like St. Malo, but I know we will be too far from St. Malo. Is there any place with a similar atmosphere that is situated closer to ETRETAT??
2) When driving from Paris to Etretat, are there nice, scenic FORESTS we should pass through?
3) Where is the region where we can drive past old abbeys? Someone mentioned an "Abbey Road" near ROUEN. Please advise.
MERCI BEAUCOUP!/Thank you for taking the time to respond to me.

London to Rouen Posted: Sat May 29, 2004 03:45 AM UTC
I'm leaving on a cruise from Rouen on Monday, July 19th. However, my flight from the US gets into London (Gatwick) on Saturday morning,. Does anyone have suggestions on the best way to get from London to Rouen?
I'm not familiar with the areas, but there is an overnight ferry from Portsmouth that goes to Le Havre. Would it be difficult to get from Le Havre to Rouen? Or would it be easier to take a train from London to Paris and then connect to Rouen?
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
