Does anyone know if there are flights directly into Stavropol from somewhere in the EU? If so, which airline? I would like to avoid going through Moscow and if possible, Rostov. There used to be a flight from Madrid directly to Stavropol. Travel would be between May and end of September.

Hi, I and my 2 sisters will be traveling to Stravropol in January or February and we would like to take the train. Are there any fast trains? I thought I found an 8 hour train but now I'm only finding 33 hour. Was I dreaming?

I am considering a trip to the city of Stavropol, “city of the cross” in the central Caucasus region of Russia, possibly just after the New Year. I am concerned about the state departments warning regarding travel in the Caucasus region of Russia, listed as dangerous. The Department of State recommends Americans not travel to Chechnya and adjoining areas, and if they are there, to depart immediately. Anyone care to help me placate my conscience. I would like to meet her mother, her daughter and close friends. I believe the experience would be invaluable to our relationship, and especially to my understanding.
I wonder what the best approach to this destination would be, i.e. connecting flights to my final destination.
