Hi; just got back from staying in an all-inclusive near Playa del Carmen and fell in love with the town of Playa del Carmen. I'm researching apartments/condos and considering retirement there in about 10 years. Anyone living there now, who moved there for retirement? The internet shows apartments/condos in PDC for just over $100,000.00 US currency. I also see very affordable houses in Huatulco which is gorgeous. Any ideas for finding a place to live much appreciated.

How much do we tip? In Pesos or Dollars?

How much do we tip everyone? who all expects a tip? In Peso's or dollars? I'm assumming a couple dollars daily for the maid, is that right? (that's what we do here in Minnesota,) but we don't normally tip bag boys and such here, so I'm not sure what the correct ammount would be...

Wedding at Riu Playacar or Iberostar

Considering having wedding ceremony at the Riu Playacar or one of the Iberostars. I have been to the Iberostar Paraisio Beach and I know that resort is great. Just wanted someone's input that has done this before at one of the locations. Any help is greatly appreciated? Thanks!

looking for a place to rent for a month

Hi all
hope things are well with you all. I and my girlfriend are looking at taking some dive courses in playa del carmen, but were having a hard time finding a spot for a reasonable amount of money, most want 2500 plus for a month stay. If any of you know of anything cheap please let us know. It wouldnt have to be a really nice spot, were just regular folks looking for a place to sleep. If any one had a condo , and wanted to rent it out, that would be best, but really anything would work.from roughly dec 5 to jan 5th ,1 bedroom with a small kitcheneete, would suffice. please email me: rmackay@tavel.ca thanks

December Weather

Hello,

I'm looking for a travel destination, around early December (1st or 2nd week), for one week.
Currently living in Europe, and thought about going to Play Del Carmen, at least that's one option.
Would just like to know, if womeone has experience, if the weather is fine during that month. I've done some researh, but on one site I see that the nb of rainy days is bigger in December, whilst on other sites I read that it's the dry season and that there won't be much rain at all.
So, anyway, I prefer asking people that really know :) (hopefully though).

Ferry Travel from Cozumel

I am trying to find the best airfare from Atlanta. How long is the ferry ride from Cozumel to Playa del Carmen? Would it just be better to fly into Cancun?

Hi, I am trying to get advice on a better vacation spot during the last week of December of this year '06! I've been to Cancun and I loved it, however I wanted to travel to Playa del Carment possibly this year....OR I am also contemplating over Puerto Rico. Has anyone been to either and what are the pluses or negatives for both during December, rainy season...etc?
I know both places are in the caribbean so I'm sure the weather will still be hot, however is there ever a rainy season and what are the typical temperatures? Thanks for any suggestions!!!

We're planning our holiday foor PDC in april 2007.... we are wondering if there ar eany tips for a good resort?
We're interested in a good resort with breakfast.. not too big of a resort, not too busy!
We are looking for Las Palapas, Shangri La Caribe and Rivera del Sol.
Are these any good or does anyone has other tips for us??

We are traveling to Playa del Carmen in a few days and would like to know the distance in miles or km from Playa del Carmen to Sandos Carocol Resort. I have seen 5min to 10min travel time and would like to know the actual distance. Also would like reccomendations for car/modped rentals in Playa del Carmen.

Hello,

I'm considering staying at Sandos Caracol, I found a good deal on them.

Has anyone stayed there, what was the impression?
Is it clean, do they have hot water, how was the food and the beach?

Also, how often do the shuttles run to Playa Del Carmen or is it possible to walk to the city?

Weather in the first week of October?

Hi All,

We are going to Playa Del Carmen October 1-6th and I checked the weather and it says showers:(

Could someone tell me what kind of weather to expect?
If it will rain, does it rain the whole day or just couple hours or at all ?

Also, does anyone know good restaurants in Playa that are authentic Mexican food, not commercialized, possibly off the main tourist routes?

My wife and I are travelling with our two daughters (2 1/2 and 3 months) to Playa in November. We are staying at a condo and not a resort. Does anyone have recommendations for kid friendly activities? Anyone had any luck with babysitters that are not resort based?

We are heading to the Riviera Maya in last week of October. Does anyone know what kind of weather we should be expecting. We are staying at the El Dorado resort and spa, if anyone has stayed there could they possible share there experience.

Renting a car in playa?

Our family is going to visit Playa del Carmen in December for two weeks.
Our plan is to rent a car for 5 days. Is it safe to drive there? We two children so we thing it is easier to travel by car with them.
Is it easy to find the mayan ruins etc.?

We are staying at the Riu palace Mexico, any comments on the hotel?

Hello everyone,
I've finally set my mind to go to Playa del Carmen this first week of September but I was told that it was not ideal because of the huricane season...can anyone tell me what the weather is really like early September ? Is it showers every now and again but mostly sunny or will we have to stay inside all day because of wind/storms....?
Also, can anyone comment on hotel RIU Yucatan...

We have traveled to Playa on a number of occasions, mostly staying at Royal Hideaway and, last yearm at Secrets Capri (RH was closed). We will be returning to Secrets in Feb but would like to split the trip to 4 or 5 days there and perhaps 3 or 4 days in one of the upscale boutique hotels in town.
Any suggestions????

Hello,

I´ve just booked 17 days Playa del Carmen in November in the hotel Riu Tequila.
This will be my first time in Mexico.
Also included is a short round trip for 4 days to Chichen Itza, Coba, Merida.
I will also make some day trips to Cozumel for example.
The rest of the time I will spend for diving in the sea and the cenotes.
Is it possible to go jogging in Playa or to go in and around Playa by bicycle.
Were can I found more information in the internet about Playa del Carmen ?
Which are the best websites ?
