The wife and I (42 and 45 respectively) are headed to the Royal in Playa on November 3, 2007. Anyone else planning on being there during that time period?

We are tryng to plan a cocktail party for a party of 50 people in Playa del Carmen. We would like to do 2-3 hour open bar and hors d'oevres on a Friday night.

What are some good bars for that in Playa?

We are not the party type. So we are looking for a nice cheap hotel in a semi-private area. We'd prefer beachfront. Not any type of resort or all-inclusive. Just a quiet place to rest our heads. Heard Coco's Cabanas is nice. Has anyone been there?

What does it cost to go to Cozumel from Playa del Carmen.

What is there to do there. I am with 2 teenagers. Is it mainly a sun, sand, surf and snorkel destination. What part of the island is the best.

I've heard that the beach has been damamged by the recent Hurricanes along the Mayan Riviera. Does anyone have updated information about the state of the beaches?

We will be in the Playa Del Carmen area 7-21 October and we will celebrate my wife's birthday during that time. I wanted a romantic/soothing/pampering type of day for her but I admit to being pretty lame about things like that. Can anybody recommend a massage or cleansing body treatments ladies have? A beautiful restaurant and a place that plays a slow, snuggly tune every now and then would also be very nice. Any ideas?

Does anyone know if any restaurants in Playa Del Carmen serve Panuchos? I had them in Tabasco and would like to be able to get them again when we go to Playa Del Carmen.

I'm going to Playa Del Carmen, and would like to go to Placencia, Belize after. Any ideas on how I would get from one to the other? Travel by sea would be preferable, but would fly, bus, etc...

I've read bits & pieces about available transportation. Apparently there is a bus or something at the entrance of the resort(at the end of the resort shuttle run). Does anyone know what kind of transportation/bus it is or the cost? Also, how far distance/time is it to Playa del Carmen from the resort? Or at least how far to off-site restraunts and shopping?

What are some great restuarants to eat at in Playa?

I am trying to find out how long (in minutes) the taxi drive is from Playa del Carmen to Xel Ha.

I have been able to find what the actual distance is, but not the time it takes to travel the 30 miles. It can very well be half an hour like it can be an hour. I really have no idea.

If anyone knows and/or has actually done the trip, that would be great. I just want to make sure that I get back to my cruise ship docked at Cozumel on time.

We will be in Playa Del Carmen for just a day as part of a cruise. Can you recommend a beach club that we can rent chairs and umbrellas and sit for the time we are there? The closer to the shopping district the better. We will have 2 teenagers with us. . .

Traveling to PDC August 18th, and staying at the Fisherman's Village Playacar. I have read many horrible reviews, but the only horrible thing mentioned was the time share presentations and how pushy they are. If I am to avoid the presentations, is there really any thing wrong with this resort?

Also, how is the weather in August?

Is there a residential neighborhood that is near (walking distance) to the beach, 5th Avenue, but too near?

how is it to rent a car there.? we'd like to rent 1 day & drive to out of the spots along the way to tulum.

did you drive on the highway 307? or rent a taxi? we're thinking of renting a car for a day & going to some out of the way places. heard from some that it was dangerous!

We will be staying at Riu Yucatan in April. We have had friends that went to Belize from Mexico. I have read that there are boats available or driving a car.Any information on getting to Belize just for the day would be great. And if driving how long would it take and what is the route?

I was reading some things about traveling at night from Playa. Our villa is about 10 minutes away. We have teenage girls who want to go into playa at night. Is this safe for them to do? I read on the internet that driving at night is "very dangerous for many reasons" is exactly what was said but gave no other reason.

My husband and I are flying to Cancun next week, stopping off in Playa del Carmen to warm up on our way to Belize. I see there is a colectivo van from cancun airport to Playa for about 20 USD...or Riviera bus for 7 usd. Not sure if this is accurate from websites. Has anyone taken the bus? Any suggestions? we're budget travellers who just want to get to the beach cheap and fast and don't mind walking or public transport. Thanks!

Is Playa del Carmen a suitable place to travel with a 10 month old? If so, does anyone have any recommendations for hotels? I have been told Hotel Posada Mariposa is a nice place but I am not sure how kid friendly it is. Thanks in advance for your suggestions and replies.
