I keep seeing all of these great things about this place and I've been to Playa several times, but I've never noticed it. I will be going in August 2008 and I was hoping that someone could give me a hint about where it is located. I really want to surprise my boyfriend and take him there.

Also, I read about Moon and he loves techno and rooftop patios. Is this place easy to find as well?

Any information would be helpful. This is his congratulations on graduating law school trip, so I want to really spoil him!!!

I will be going to Rui Maya Riviera Resort in Playa del Carmen Mexico, in just about a week. I would like to know are there any nice deserted beaches, (I understand due to the date there may be many tourists there) I would like to find so empty beaches to take some photos. Does most of the beaches belong to private resorts making walking them hard? I have never been before so any info about the beaches or indeed about playa del Carmen would be great!

We are planning to spend the winter of 2009 in the Playa Del Carmen, MX area and are looking for a nice clean furnished apartment, in a safe area to rent. (Arriving between January 10th - 15th and staying till the end of March 2009) We would like a clean 1 bedroom, 1 bath apartment with kitchen, internet, air conditioning and a television that is fully furnished and close to the ocean.

I was in Playa del Carmen earlier this week and stopped by a small art gallery off of 5th Avenue. The only thing I can remember about the place is that I believe it was called Mist and that I really liked the art work. If anyone can give me any more information about the artist, an address or email, anything would be helpful so I can contact them. Thanks!

has anyone been to Playa Del Carmen in Mexico - the photos are amazing & id like to hear some stories... is it safe, is it expensive?

If it's all inclusive, why don't the rooms have fully stocked bars in them like many other all-inclusives. Why is there a depressingly low level of entertainment there. Why does the main pool close in the evenings? Why is the "beach" littered with 20' long black bags filled with sand? They look like beached whales? Why would the desk staff ,who operate 24/7 refuse to give a wake up call to your room, despite your orders with the claim,"it's too early".
If you are looking to be Bored out your skin, for the 4 or 5 thousand dollars you might have spent to stay there, then you have found the right place. Otherwise, If you're looking to have someFUN, I might suggest you try any one of the great all-inclusives in Jamaica. You get much more "Bang for the Buck"
there and are better treated and appreciated..

Me and 4 of my friends will be staying at the Occidental Grand Xcaret in June. Were all in our early 20's and wanted some tips on what would be fun for our age group to do. I heard good night life goes on in Playa Del Carmen. If anyone has any suggestions for us on tours or nightclub/bars..it would be greatly appreciated!!

I am going to playa del carmen from the 20th dec 08 till the 3th jan09 with my girlfriend.

I wanted to ask you your kind advice...my plan is to stay 14 days in a row in some hotel in Playa and taking tours from there...

Now..Do you think it's better to do 7 days in Playa and the other 7 days somewhere else?

if yes where would you advice?

I just bought the flights and now i was looking for a hotel not too much expensive...what would you suggest? we are a young couple..so not too much money in our pockects.. :-)

I've heard all kinds of stories about tipping at AI resorts. Are guests expected to carry tip money around with them all the time? How often do you tip the bartender, maid, food server etc.? How much & how often? I've also heard that tipping doesn't always help get faster/better service. Any comments, "tips", or suggestions are much appreciated.
P.S. Its a 5* resort.

What's the best bet getting to and from the airport? How long is the trip and how much should I expect to pay? Thanks for you help.

What are the most fun and lively places to go at night and which nights are the best at each place?

We're planning a warm weather trip this March (I know - it's almost March!). My wife and I would like to stay in a resonably priced "boutique" hotel (if there is such a thing) with access to great local restaurants, shops and beautiful beaches. We are not crazy about the "all inclusive" venues or destinations where we're confined to the resort. We are considering Playa but are open to other destinations that offer great weather, beautiful beaches and great culinary options. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated?

I have some questions, I want to go from San Pedro to Playa del Carmen in one day. Is that possible? I'd prefer by bus because plane is more expensive. and how much time does it take? I have no idea how to do it .. Does anyone know of the buscompanys in Belice?

I am looking for the email address for PROFECO. Vacationed in Cozumel Jan 08 and am trying to cancel a time share purchase at the Sandos Resort and Spa in Playa Del Car if anybody out there can help with this information I would be greatful.

Can anyone help me, I am trying to suprise my hubby of 25 years with a vacation in Playa del Carmen. I would like a really beautiful resort with clean rooms, top shelf food and liquor, AI. I have heard so many horror stories! We have stayed at the Melia in Cozumel and at RIU Bachata in the Dominican, both were very clean with very nice staff....but really BAD wine, only fair food and no top shelf liquor. I will admit to being picky, but when you have been married to the same man for 25 years and still want to go on a romantic 25th anniversary trip it should be wonderful. Our plans are for June, 2008. We want to go from Playa del Carmen to San Pedro, Belize. We are thinking to take the bus to Chetumal, then taxi to the border, then taxi to the airport in Corozol, then air to San Pedro. Is that the best way? How far is it from Playa del Carmen to the border? Do we need to make reservations ahead of time? Where is the bus station in Playa del Carmen? Any help would be appreciated.

I am going to Cancun soon for a vacation, but the flights to Cozumel are better priced and have better schedules. What are my options to get my wife, myself, and our luggage from the Cozumel airport to our hotel in Cancun, and then back again?

I have always loved the mexican day of the dead decorations and colourful artwork. There was one really lovely shop in PLaya selling lots of this and beautiful metal mirrors etc I was just wondering if anyone knows the name or contact details of the shop. It was near to an ice cream shop if that helps, and really small!

Also, where is the main area in mexico where you can get these decorations ans does anyone know an internet site I can order them from cheaply?

Does anyone know of any transportation for a person in a wheelchair from the Cancun airport to Play del Carmen? Our son is disabled he would have to stay in his wheelchair so we would need something with a lift or ramp, thank you.

My shortlist includes Hotels Posada Mariposa, Illusion Boutique and Playa del Karma. Which of them is really quiet? (No musics at night, no traffic noise at night)

The wife and I (42 and 45 respectively) are headed to the Royal in Playa on November 3, 2007. Anyone else planning on being there during that time period?

We are tryng to plan a cocktail party for a party of 50 people in Playa del Carmen. We would like to do 2-3 hour open bar and hors d'oevres on a Friday night.

What are some good bars for that in Playa?
