Progreso Internet Cafe closest to Uaymitun +other questions!
Posted: Tue November 6, 2007 02:56 PM UTC
1. We are staying in Uaymitun for January 2008. So far, we do not plan to rent a car as we've heard that public transportation is plentiful and cheap. I'd love suggestions of day trips we could take. I realize that we are staying in a fairly isolated place so I'm interested in other travelers experiences staying in this area. I'm concerned that I may get bored!! I like to do something interesting at least part of every day and not just lay around the pool/beach.

2. I have to keep in fairly regular touch with my family in Canada as I have an elderly somewhat unwell parent. Where is the closest internet cafe? Is there any wireless access in the area at all?

3. Is it easy to find groceries? Would it be difficult to transport a few large shopping bags in the public bus/combi?

Thanks for any and all help!

Progreso beaches

In Playa del Carmen we noticed the beaches were top-optional. How about the beaches in Progreso? Are they the same or are "topless beachers" not allowed? Thanks.

Progreso First Trip to Yucatan
Posted: Thu February 3, 2005 12:19 AM UTC
I visited a web site with properties for sale in the Chicxulub/Progreso area and fell in love with the water, laid back atmosphere, etc. My husband and I are planning a trip to this area at the end of May 2005 to scout the area and see some properties. Do you know anyone else that have made that move? We live in Florida and are tired of the rat race and stress. Are we crazy for wanting to do that? I'm not sure if we can obtain a visa to be able to live permanently in Mexico - we do not plan on working. I will contact the Embasy/Consulate in Miami for more info on this subject. Will it be cheaper to buy a car locally or ship our own; any info along these lines about living there full time will be greatly appreciated.
