considering relocating Posted: Fri September 11, 2009 01:28 AM UTC
I am considering relocating to Puerta Vallarta from No. Calif. early next year. Have been there many times but have no idea how to start looking for an apartment. Would like 1-2 bedroom in Old Town section. Nothing luxurious as will be on U.S. Soc. and you know how that is. Every website I visit either wants to sell me a condo or rent an expensive apt. Does anyone know any realtors who specialize in ex-pat rentals? Website URL would be appreciated. Also, what about limitations in visas, etc? I'm sure I could dig this up but since you're helping me why not go the extra mile (smile). Thanks for any help you can be.

Tours / excursions - Favorites and NOT so favorites Posted: Tue June 2, 2009 12:54 AM UTC
Almost eveything I read everyone loves the excursions they take and the companies.
We will be two adults and 2 teenage boys.
I was curious on what people FAVORITES are and / or which ONES they would NOT do or recommend. I figure both of these should narrow it down.
So far I have looked at three companies:
Vallarta Adventures
Ecotours Vallarata
puerto Vallarta tours
We will probably take 3 or 4 days of tours during our 7 days there.
Also would be interested in Nighttime outtings - fiesta nights, sunste sailing, pirates outing etc that were good and/or bad.

Holiday in PV Posted: Thu April 9, 2009 10:49 AM UTC
Hi again,
I have now decided on PV for my vacation for xmas but when looking at prices for villas or even hotels the prices have scared me. $14000 a week for a villa, is this correct? Is it that expensive there? Can anyone recommend a good villa with pool by the beach not too far away from the action at a reasonble price?
Thanx.

Best way to go to Malecon arriving on a cruise ship Posted: Sun March 1, 2009 07:29 PM UTC
I shall be at Puerto Vallarta in April arriving on Sapphire Princess cruise ship. We want to visit Malecon on our own. What is the best way to go there from the cruise terminal? Can we get around speaking only English? We have over 8 hours for the visit. Are there any interesting spot along the route?

Pulmonias Posted: Sun January 25, 2009 06:40 PM UTC
What is a reasonable price to offer a Pulmonia driver to take us from port to downtown? I dont want to be cheap but I dont want to be taken either. Are there Pulmonias in Mazatlan and Cabo San Lucas also? What would I pay for a bus in these three cities... from the pier to downtown?

Hi,
It has been almost 25 years since I have been to PV and I want to go for some R/R. I am thinking about just arriving and wandering to the oler section of town in hopes of finding a clean, quiet, and safe hotel. I would appreciate any suggestions anyone cares to make. I just want to read, snooze, check out the local restaurants, etc. No discos.
Thank you,

Whats with the dead SNAKES on the beach? Posted: Tue November 11, 2008 04:13 PM UTC
I was staying at Nuevo Vallarta Riu Jallisco last week and walked frequently to Bucerias along the beach. In this walk (about 1.7 miles), I counted 71 dead snakes, a 5 ft long sead eel and two dead fish. Is this common? Whyare they dead? Is the ocean safe to swim in there?

Staying in the old town- Romantic Zone Posted: Mon November 10, 2008 09:16 PM UTC
Hi,
I am quite interested in staying in PV for a week.I am spending a previously week in a secluded beach villa. On searching around the Los Meurtos beach a couple of sites have popped up indicating around the lifestyle of the beach (blue chairs) and the old town.
Can somebody suggest some areas in downtown/ Romantic Zone in PV that would be more suited to a couple.
Any contact (email) with a local PV would be appreciated.
Thanks

Tipping taxi drivers, restaurant and hotel workers in dollars Posted: Wed September 24, 2008 12:55 AM UTC
Buenos Tardes, Amigos!
I've been to Vallarta many times, but not since 2004. That year, and all the previous times, I've tipped servers with US dollar bills, a currency they've been pleased to receive. But right now, the dollar is barely worth the paper it's printed on, and I'm wondering if it would still be approriate to use dollars as tips. Maybe double the percentage? Or would pesos be a better idea in these tough economic times?
I love the people in Mexico, they're so gracious and dignified, and it can't be easy to wait on some of the Americans I see misbehaving. I don't want to insult anyone by acting arrogant, flashing the $$$, and assuming they want our currency. If anyone knows the subtleties, I'd love to hear your advice.
Muchas Gracias!

Name of beach??? Posted: Sat September 20, 2008 03:08 PM UTC
Hola,
I am trying to remember the name of a beautiful wide sandy beach maybe 30 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta. I think it is the first beach you come to on the main road after you leave Manzanilla heading toward Punta Mita. It is very near the road and there is a a nice outlook from the road overlooking the beach. There is a small free parking area with some concession stands on the beach. It is very common with local families and crowded on the weekends, the sunset is beautiful. According to a map I found it is north of Las Cargadas. Attached are links to a Nayarit map with an arrow pointing to the beach and another with an actual picture from the beach.
I seem to remember but I'm not positive, maybe confusing it with somewhere else, but I think there may be an archway entering into the parking area and the name is on the arch. But I'm not sure.
Anyone know the name?
Thanks!

It will be my first time to Puerto Vallarta and I have some questions. I will stay at the Marival. Any comments about this hotel? I want to do some activities. Time shares in downtown area Posted: Mon August 4, 2008 04:33 PM UTC
I am looking for one of the time shares I visited in downtown Puerto Vallarta last year. It had a popular beachfront restaurant underneath it. More on the beach nearby. It was located just south of the river. Can anyone help?

Mexican Independence Celebrations Sept 14-16 Posted: Sun July 27, 2008 03:37 PM UTC
I would like to know whether we should try to make dinner reservations or transporation arrangements in order to enjoy this great celebration. It doesn't matter to me whether we go to Puerto Vallarta, Bucerias or some other town I just want to have some input on how to make sure we're able to attend and really enjoy the events.
Reservations or not? and with whom.
Thanks

Visiting next week, hotel, eats, activities and orphanage? Posted: Sat July 26, 2008 03:53 PM UTC
A friend and I are going to PV next week and we need some help. We are staying for 4 days, and in addition to relaxing we want to engage in exciting activities and make sure we see enough of PV. We will arrive on the 30th of July in the after noon and thinking of taking a bus ride down town and having a meal. Someone suggested El Pitillal, do how so we get there, or maybe any otehr suggestions. We are not booked n hotel yet, so any suggestions?
For the rest of three days, I am thinking of one to relax sit on the beach and go downtown again, the second have a tequila tour, and the third RANCHO CAPOMO RIDE, for $75. What do you think?
Also, is there an orphanage in PV that we can visit?
Thanks for the help in advance.

Bus transportation to and from Sayulita Posted: Thu May 22, 2008 05:39 PM UTC
Hi all, I've been to PV twice, but we are going to Sayulita next week. I've heard there is a cheap way to get from PV to Sayulita on the local bus. Anyone know anything about this? Also, what are your thoughts about car rentals for the week? Rent from the U.S? Which company and who gives good rates? What about transportation within and around Sayulita? We've got a couple of bum knees, (not bums) going on this trip. We are all fairly adventurous and budget-conscience travelers. Any additional info is welcome.
Thanks!
