| Tulum | Tribal Village - Tulum Posted: Thu May 4, 2006 08:22 PM UTC
Hi,
I am planning a group trip to Tulum Mexico. I remember a place call Tribal Village, but don't number or website name...can anyone help? Also, any cool places to visit in the area that might not be as available in a regular tour? We are planning to rent a car. Any information is welcome. Thanks |

Hello everybody! My girlfriend and I are in Mexico already and plan to go to Tulum next. We have trouble making reservations for a cabana. Does anybody know if you can really go there and find one without reservation? And would this be a safe place? Thank you!!

| Tulum | Zahra - review? Cabanas to stay Posted: Tue March 21, 2006 10:02 PM UTC
Hi,
Does anyone know what Zahra cabanas are like? There seem to be some good reviews, and some bad reviews - does anyone have any other suggestions on where to stay? Preferably on the beach, but not too basic or cheap. Thanks, :-) |

| Tulum | Looking for cheap lodging in Tulum around spring break Posted: Tue February 14, 2006 03:19 AM UTC
i'm going to Tulum with a teacher friend and the only time he has (sigh*) is spring break. We want to stay in a beach cabana (ie: cheaply). None of these types of places offers advance reservations. Will it be near impossible to show up the monday before easter and find a place? This is also our very first time in Tulum so if you can offer any bus from cancun or best places to eat (vegetarian/cheap) that would be awesome. I know I keep harping on the budget constraints but it is a major consideration.
thanks! thanks! thanks! |

| Tulum | best places to stay Posted: Fri December 30, 2005 11:14 PM UTC
Hello - I am travelling to Mexico on January 2nd and plan on visiting Tulum. I am travelling on my own, but I would like to meet other people and not end up with lots of couples! Can anyone suggest anywhere to stay that isnt too expensive but is a bit nicer than basic? Security is a must as I am on my own. Any ideas?

| Tulum | Travel Posted: Tue December 6, 2005 02:39 AM UTC
Has anyone ever taken a "real" mexican taxi from Cancun to the Tulum area and what can one expect for cost. Arriving late afternoon at airport and want to get to villa just north of Tulum before it gets too late - don't want to rent a car - would prefer to rent one in Tulum next day for any local travel.

| Tulum | Accomodations at Christmas Posted: Mon November 14, 2005 04:40 AM UTC
Should I reserve accomodations for Christmas or are there plenty of budget places to stay? I know it's a busy time of the year, but maybe less people are going to Cancun and thus less people at Tulum (because of Hurricane Wilma)?! Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance. |

| Tulum | Leaving backpack at ruins Posted: Wed August 10, 2005 12:23 PM UTC
Hello
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to leave my backpack at the Tulum ruins? Will be arriving in the morning from Palenque and going straight to Playa del Carmen.. I know that in Chichen Itza and Uxmal this is not a problem as storage for the backpack is included in entry ticket. is this the case for Tulum too? Thank you for your help E-kat |

| Tulum | Any Word on Tulum? Posted: Tue July 19, 2005 08:38 PM UTC
Anybody have any specific news about Tulum since Emily hit? What places got wrecked, did the beach shrink back? All I've heard is that damage to the ruins was minimal and a team of Mexican archaeologists will be sent to further assess the damage. I've also heard that many of the cabanas were completely destroyed, that the water came all the way up to the coastal road, and that the area has been temporarily designated a "disaster zone." The army was blocking any traffic from attempting to access the beachfront.
It's horrible, my favourite place in the world all beaten up!! |

| Tulum | Arriving in Tulum late at night Posted: Thu June 9, 2005 12:11 PM UTC
Heading to Mexico this autumn and planning on doing the Yucatan and Chiapas.. Have lloked at buses going from Palenque to Tulum and the one that would be the easiest for us to take is the one that leaves Palenque at 17.30. Which means we arrive in Tulum at 3.30 am.. Anyone done this? Is it dangerous arriving in the middle of the night? Can one find a place to sleep at that time? Any suggestions? Is it better to reserve? Is there a better way to get to Tulum from Chiapas? All help would be greatly appreciated.. thank you so much...

| Tulum | only a few more questions, I promise Posted: Wed June 1, 2005 11:30 PM UTC
OK I've pretty much figured out that we need to take the collectivo bus. I'd like to go to Playa one day too. Can you take the collectivo to Playa? When does the first bus run, what about the last? Is the ferry ride to Cozumel worth it? Is there better shopping there? Where is the BEST shopping possible? What's the money situation? Should I bring it all in cash? USD or pesos? Thanks SOOOO much for your help.

| Tulum | Tour Guide Posted: Wed June 1, 2005 01:26 PM UTC
Hi!
From what I've read here and other places, our resort isn't the way to go for touring the ruins and such in and out of Tulum. So, I figure it may be benificial to hire a driver/tour guide. Has anyone done this? Do you know how much it will cost? I'd really appreciate it. We're leaving the 11th. Thanks! D |

Hi All --
From doing a bit of research, I *think* there is at least one working ATM in Tulum (at the Ruins site). Can anyone confirm whether this sucker is still there and if there are any others? Trying to figure out how much cash to bring. Thanks! |

| Tulum | Good Snorkeling right from our "doorstep"? Posted: Sat April 2, 2005 01:57 PM UTC
We are going to be going to Tulum May 1 for a week. I want good snorkeling right from the "doorstep", beach front cabana, tent site, or palapa, a long beach to walk on, with out lots of screaming kids.
Tribal Village and Playa Papaya sound like our kinda place!!! Do they have good snorkeling? Which one is best? Also, since it looks like we will spend less on accomdations than planned, should we rent a car instead to take us to the cool spots around Tulum or can we just save the money, eat better instead and get around via bus etc? Anyone know of a good place to get good airfare? Thanks! |

I am trying to plan a vacation for our family. We are in our early 40's. Our children are 14, 17, 22 and 25. I was in Playa 2 yrs ago. To tell you the truth my friends and I only had 5 days. We were so busy we never got to stop and smell the roses! My brother might let me use his vacation club which I have to find out if they have any in this area. Plus I am trying to wiegh the costs or this, AI, or EP. And weather we should stay in like Playa or Tulum. Considering transportation ect...
Any advice? Thanks Sherri |

| Tulum | Walk to the Ruins? Posted: Wed April 21, 2004 07:09 PM UTC
Hello,
My husband and I will be staying at the Sunscape Tulum in October. I've heard that you can actually walk along the beach to get to the ruins. Is this true and is it still possible to get a tour of the place once you get there? Also, if anyone has any experiences or advice they would like to share about staying at Sunscape during the month of October, that would be so much appreciated. Thanks so much!! |

Any tips on what to see or do in the area? I have seen other posts mentioning Xel-ha and Xcaret. Anyone been to these places. Are they close to Tulum?

| Tulum | non touristy tulum mexico accommodations Posted: Fri March 5, 2004 05:06 PM UTC
My boyfriend and I are planning on heading down to Mexico in mid April for about 10 days. We do not like touristy (nothing like Cabo or Cancun). We want a cabana style place to stay with a bathroom and hopefully hot water. We stayed in Belize in Placencia and also Caye Caulker off the beaten path.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Peace |

| Tulum | Looking for beach resort south of Tulum Posted: Fri February 6, 2004 05:55 PM UTC
Hi,
I'll be traveling to the Quintana Roo region in March and want to get recommendations for places (posadas/cabanas) to stay that are on the beach south of Tulum. I'm not looking for luxury resorts but ones that have at least hot running water, private bath, possibly a ceiling fan, and is clean. Also, what is the weather like in that area during March. Thanks, Dan |
