Is there a place, preferably in central Guadalajara, to purchase MIRO beachware? I have tried all sorts of searches for these items, both in general and for Guadalajara specifically, with no results. We have purchased this for my wife on several occasions along the Yucatan, but have not been back in a while and she would like more. We are planning on being in Guadlajara in August for a wedding and would appreciate some guidance. Thanks.

I was enroute in Guadalajara Airport and saw some beautiful jewelry there. Is this made in Mexico and would anyone know where I could get one of their catalogues? Thank you for any help.

We will be in Guadalajara for only 2 days and 1 night midweek on Weds night and leaving Thursday afternoon and I don't see a lot of things going on there during those days. Could anyone recommed a good nightclub or maybe a comedy club during weds nights? Are there any Chareadas, mariachis or anything else of that sort or is everything pretty much just on the weekends? We will be there Dec 19th.

I have just been offered a term abroad position in Guadalajara, but it would probably involve staying in Zapopan. What is the approximate commute time from Zapopan to the center of Guadalajara? Is there regular public transport? Is life in Zapopan really all that different from Guadalajara?

I am planning a trip from Tucson, AZ in August 2006 to Guadalajara and back. i am looking for any advice, suggestions, about where to stay, which towns to visit, hostels or hotels that are cheap great experiences.

Also i am wondering about what route to follow, I would like to travel a different route back also.

I am thinking of going on student exchange next semester to Monterey Tech in Guadalajara. Can anyone help with apartments around that area or in some nice areas? I was wondering if anyone had an idea as to how far the aiport is to the new train terminal? I'm going to be to flying in and I need to travel to Uruapan on ETN...I just want to solidify my schedule a bit. There is no info on it...I just know they are both south of Guadalajara. I am interested in finding out the process for getting married in Mexico if you are from the US. Is it hard to do or is it relatively easy? I know that it used to be considered very easy but is that still the same? Can anyone help me out here? What about if you want to marry in the Catedral Metropolitan de Guadalajara? Is it very difficult to get permission? Do both need to be Catholic? Or is it okay if just one is? Is this even possible?

I'm planning on moving to GDL next year, so am trying to prepare for it. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions on moving to Mexico? I plan to take most of my possessions - not much but more than can fit into 2 pieces of luggage. And I also want to bring my cat with me. Would driving be better vs. going by plane?

Also, does anyone know how long it takes to drive from the Phoenix/Tucson area in Arizona to Guadalajara?

I am an ESL teacher in the states. I need a break and want to spend the school year in GDL with my (then) 7yr old, going to school to learn Spanish.

I am not sure exactly HOW, but I am planning on doing it.

Does anyone have any advice on finding elementary schools, kid friendly neighborhoods, things to do etc.

I am also looking for anyone willing to do a home exchange between GDL and Portland, Oregon.

I'll be going to Guadalajara in October to study but need a cheap hostel for a few days before I get my accomodation. I have found Hostel Guadalajara Centro. Has anyone stayed here and if so whats your opinion. Sounds like good location anyway. I'm looking for cheap accomodation!

Hope people still use this forum..it seems the best way to find out info. I have a few questions (although i lived in Gdl for 4 mo and visited again in Jan). It will be my first time having to stay in a hotel/hostel/motel

1. I want to take public transportation into the city..not a taxi. Any suggestions on where to catch it on the airport grounds?

2. What do you think is a better place to stay the 3 nights near to the centro or around the minerva, plaza del sol, fiesta americana etc. I do not want to pay a lot of $$ for a hotel..so the centro hostel would be a good idea....but my friend and I will be going out a lot and I have some friends there and I think it will be easier to pick us up around there than having to return to the centro at like 4am...what do you think?

3. What about the Motor Hotel Americas...any opinion on this one right by plaza del sol...or I would love to stay in an apartment for a few days. How can I do that?

4. Does anyone know the tequilla tour not by Suaza but the Herradaura one?? I would rather go on that one..but I do not know how to do it.

5. Also, the bosque...what can someone do there, hike, rivers etc????

6. final question is about zapopan...I went a few time to the bars of Zapopan and there were like 4 next to each other with all outside patios..but I do not remember it.

I'm going to Guadalajara in August and I'm looking for an apartment[2 or 3 bedrooms] preferably in the historic district as I'm going to a school in that area. Any leads or helpful hints would be greatly appreciated. coco

I plan to go to Guadalajara for two weeks in the summer. Is US$500 sufficient spending money for this amount of time. Costs for accomodation is excluded from this amount.

I was just hoping to get a general idea of how long and how much it would cost to bus from Guadalajara to Mexico City.

Sorry, I've seen answers to this question, but I read something that conflicts with the "no buses serve GDL" answers:

Apparently there's a yellow (and white?) bus that runs an hourly loop between GDL and Guadalajara centro, but it doesn't go directly TO the airport. Instead it stops somewhere very nearby. I have a backpack and two feet, and I'm happy to walk to a bus and pay $3 versus 10 times that for a taxi.

Any suggestions? What about a colectivo from the airport? Or do people often share taxis to the city?

I am going to Puerto Vallarta following my college graduation in May 2005. I am planning on flying from Philadelphia, although flights are very expensive to Puerto Vallarta. I have read somewhere that people choose to fly from Philadelphia to Guadalajara and then take ETN buses to Puerto Vallarta. This bus ride is approx 4.5-5 hours long, but it would be nice to see more of Mexico and to save money on airfare. The only thing I worry about is returning to Philadelphia. You see, we would have to leave Puerto Vallarta and take a bus back to Guadalajara in order to fly home. Do you think this is possible? I am nervous that the bus would leave late, etc. and we would miss our flight. I don't speak Spanish so this is another worry of mine. Any suggestions for a new traveler in Mexico? I would love to find some work there so i can move, if anyone has any info, about working, or jobs in guadalajara that would be awesome.

We have booked tickets to Puerta Vallarta for a mini vacation at the end of April. Our first week will be spent with family at a resort in Vallarta. We then have one week to travel on our own.

Questions:

1. Is camping a good option for some of the nights on the route from Vallarta to Colima to Guadalajara? Is security a major issue when camping? Can you leave your tent up and unattended for the day or do you need to pack it along with you wherever you go?

2. Recommendations for things to see and budget accomodations along the route? Any transportation do's and don'ts for this circuit? What are the busses like and how long does it take to travel these sections of road? Is a week long enough to enjoy this area? or should we just hang out in Vallarta for two weeks?

3. Has anyone climbed the volcanoes near Colima? Do you need a guide? Will there be snow this time of year at the peaks? Transportation to and/from an issue? Camping in the park? Special considerations for gear or time to allow for climb?

Any information on your experiences in the above areas would be greatly appreciated. Also, any tips on what to see and do in Puerto Vallarta would also be great.
