Whistler Blackcomb or Whistler?
Posted: Thu March 27, 2008 10:37 AM UTC
Howdy, we are boarders looking to get out to Whistler asap but cannot decide where to stay. Blackcomb mountain looks more interesting but Whistler is the 'name' so we are still not sure. We are all beginners but moving into intermediate. Any tips?

Cheers

Whistler Car rental question from Seattle to Whistler
Posted: Wed February 20, 2008 12:20 PM UTC
Has anyone rented a car at Seattle and drove to Whistler? I understand that some car rental companies may not permit rentals to be taken either into Canada, or as far as Whistler. I currently hold several reservations with a few companies, one, I forget which, states that rentals if taken to Canada can only be taken as far as Vancouver. So I was wondering, does anyone know which car rental companies in Seattle permit their rental cars to be taken as far as Whistler? Or, which companies forbid taking their cars across the border? Has this even been a concern to anyone? Thank you for your help.

Whistler When to get married in Whistler in winter?
Posted: Mon January 28, 2008 12:14 PM UTC
We're planning on getting married outdoors (possibly at Edgewater Lodge) in 2009. Want to do it in the snowy season, so can combine skiing as a honeymoon.

Question is - when do you think would be a good month to do it? Ideally want it as bright and sunny as possible (don't much fancy a face full of blizzard when exchanging our vows!) and somewhen there's not too many crowds either. And cheap. And when the temperatures aren't arctic.

Am I asking the impossible?!?! Or is there a two week slot anywhere that might tick most or all of those boxes?

Thanks :o)

Whistler Need babysitter or nursery at Whistler
Posted: Sat January 19, 2008 09:20 PM UTC
We are visiting Whistler on Feb. 3rd for 10 days and we may need to hire a babysitter to take care of our 6 year old daughter who does not like to ski and is already warning us that she won't try again this year!!!! Anyone knows a reliable babysitter to take care of her at the hotel while we ski? Which is the average cost? Child Care at Whistler told me that they accept children up to 48 months only. I'm not sure if I can register my daughter for the ski school and they would allow her to stay indoors without skiing. Additionally, our native language is Spanish but she understand English fairly well. Thanks for your help.

Whistler First trip to Whistler - Need direction please
Posted: Sun December 16, 2007 09:33 PM UTC
My wife and I want to plan our first trip to Whistler with a few friends. I will be skiing, and she's going to check out some Yoga studios around town.

I don't know anyone who has been there before, so I don't know much.

We are looking for convenience. Meaning, we want to be walking distance to ski lifts (if not ski in / ski out), and a very close walk to restaurants and shops.

Are there different mountains and/or villages in Whistler? If so, which do we want to stay at to get the quintessential Whistler experience?

Many thanks and happy holidays!

I am staying at Stony Creek and I want to know if I should spend more money to be closer to the main part of town and the lifts. Or is the transportation reliable enough to get me aroud easily? According to the photos, the Stony Creek condos are very nice.

Whistler When is the weather best for skiing at Whistler?
Posted: Wed September 26, 2007 07:55 PM UTC
I understand the ski season is from about Nov. to April, but what I'd like to know is when is the best time to come when it's least likely to rain during the ski season? I can understand that do to Whistler's location, it can rain at any time during the ski season, but is there a period when the odds are favorable for not raining? Can anyone offer any suggestions? Thanks.

Whistler Online Bookings
Posted: Thu February 22, 2007 01:58 PM UTC
I am about to take advantage of discounts for booking lift passes, ski rental and lessons in advance - for myself & husband. What happens if I have made a mistake or our plans change, does anyone have experience of how easy/difficult it is to alter when we are in Whistler. One thing I'm thinking is, for example, swapping skis for snowboard if the lessons go well ?

Whistler How long to stay in May
Posted: Mon January 29, 2007 08:33 PM UTC
My daughter is working in Whistler for a year. I am going to visit her but dont ski so thought I would go in May when the snow has gone. We get on great but I dont want to embarrass her by hanging around her a lot - you know how kids are with their parents! I was wondering how long I should stay - was thinking of a week but will there be much to do? I am 55 and quite active - are there such things as group walks into the mountains and things like that and are there any other areas nearby to visit. Thanks

does anyone know if it's cheaper to buy your lift pass online at the Whistler/Blackcombe website before you travel than buying it in resort?

Whistler Anyone need a place to stay from 21st Jan - 1st Feb..possibly for free??
Posted: Sat January 6, 2007 11:42 AM UTC
Ladies and Gents,

I'm Justin, 25 from Perth Aus. My deal is that me and a mate have booked a 2bdrm 2bth unit/condo in the upper village from 21st Jan to the 1st March. Problem is my mate's work committments means he's had to push his arrival date back to the 1st of Feb. So i'm home alone for 10 days!! So anyway, my mate is still footing his half and isn't expecting anything in return...so that leaves me with a spare bedroom (queen size bed, ensuite bath) until the bugger arrives. So my offer is if you're between the age of 18-30 and need a place to stay during these dates, or would like to get yourself out of your hostel for a few nights of comfort, email me - mckeejt@gmail.com. I really don't want to be riding on my own, and severly need some drinking buddies for the 26th.

Whistler Ski season advice
Posted: Fri December 29, 2006 08:37 PM UTC
Hi, I was wondering if anyone would be able to give me some advice on the best ways to find employment in Whistler for the winter season. Im interested in bar work or chalet assistant work. Are jobs harder to get in Whistler, with it being one of the top resorts? Also when is the best time to start applying for jobs for the 2007/08 season? Is it best to do it through a tour operator or to arrive in the resort and seek employment that way?

Kind Regards

Whistler Tickets
Posted: Wed December 6, 2006 08:16 AM UTC
I am heading up the hills for the first time at the start or feb for 2 weeks.

Where is the best/cheapest place to buy tickets? My accomodation offers me discounted tickets - is this the best route to go down or is there somewhere to go that is cheaper than all others?

Any help would be appreciated!

Cheers

Whistler Season tickets and selling the remaining time left on them
Posted: Tue November 28, 2006 10:25 AM UTC
I'm going to whistler on 3rd of jan for 5 weeks and the only way to be on the slopes for this period is to buy a season pass. I'm looking at getting the off-peak pass which means only being on the slopes during the week and not w/ends, however the pass will still be valid to the end of Apr and i was wondering if anyone knew about selling them on, is this possible? are there people who will buy this type of thing?

Thanks for any advice.

Whistler Looking for Housing
Posted: Fri October 27, 2006 09:36 PM UTC
So I've been offered a job with Whistler Blackcomb for the ski season and it starts on Nov. 4 - problem is, I have nowhere to live. I really only have a couple days to get things sorted out and it's stressing me out a little.

I've looked into HOUSE and they won't be able to tell me if I can have a spot until after the 1st (and even so I'm not sure I'd want to share a tiny room with bunkbeds.

I've been living in Vancouver and have all the things to furnish an apartment but it's just a little too expensive to rent a place on my own. So if anyone has any tips on finding a room in a shared house or finds themselves in the same position and wants to go together to rent something, please let me know asap!

I'm 23, female, non-smoker, clean and would make a great roommate.

Whistler lift pass

Im going to Whistler for the first time on a very tight package/budget in March 07. I hear you can buy a lift pass for $50Can/day (incl tax?)but you can only ski on one of Blackcombe or Whistler. Correct?
I'm being offered 5 of 6 days at $290Can incl tax for resort pass but can you or do you really want to ski the whole resort on any one day?
