Whistler Bear watching in Whistler?
Posted: Sun September 6, 2009 03:33 AM UTC
Dear all,

I just arrived in Whistler and very much enjoy the place.

Where will I be able to watch bears? It seems, I will be the only person been in Canada without having seen one...

I asked in the hotel and at the tourist information - their answers were not really helpful. I formerly read in this forum, to go to the dump-place in Whistler. Today I have been informed, that this one has been removed.

We have got a car, so it would not be a problem to drive a little bit around. Any suggestions?

Thanks for any comments,

Simbi

Whistler Seeking Whistler Accomodation for 4
Posted: Tue June 2, 2009 04:45 PM UTC
Looking for a place for 4 people in mid August, possibly a 2 bedroom suite. Reasonable rate very important, fine with staying outside of Whistler Village, prefer to be within a half hour drive if possible.
Would appreciate any suggesitons of a lodge or B&B that may give us a discounted rate. Are there sites that do last minute bookings for a discount?

Whistler Ice Rink in Whistler?
Posted: Sat April 11, 2009 04:12 PM UTC
I'm planning to Visit Canada and the west coast of America and will be spending 2 weeks in Whistler at least, staying with my cousin. I've looked into it but couldn't find much information on the website. http://www.whistlerhome.com/ice-skating.htm Has anyone been to this rink? And if so could you give me anymore information such as opening times or if your able to jump or spin on the ice in public sessions or if there's a training ice session if you can't.
Thank you

Whistler Whistler Condos
Posted: Wed February 11, 2009 06:01 PM UTC
Hello, we are planning a 4 night visit this summer to Whistler and are wondering which area to get a condo in. Any opinions out there? I have ski'd there, but haven't stayed in the summer. Upper village, North village, Creekside? We would like something not in the main village but nearby with mountain views where maybe we can walk to main village or take shuttle bus. Is the summer pretty busy or quiet? Any Olympics construction I should avoid?
Thanks VT'rs.

We are from New Zealand and looking to spend a couple of months travelling mainly around the Oregon area (have family there) and then up into Canada. My question is what is the best way to travel - hiring or buying a car + using motels or to buy/hire a campervan type vehicle.

Whistler Any snow on the mountains at this time?
Posted: Mon June 9, 2008 06:43 AM UTC
Hello,

I plan to visit the Whistler/Blackcomb area at the end of the month and I was wondering if I would need to bring snow gear with me (ie, snowshoes, ice axes, etc.). Never been to BC before so I don't know how the conditions in those mountains are at this time of the year.

If anyone has been up there recently, I would appreciate your input.

Thanks

Howdy, we are boarders looking to get out to Whistler asap but cannot decide where to stay. Blackcomb mountain looks more interesting but Whistler is the 'name' so we are still not sure. We are all beginners but moving into intermediate. Any tips?

Whistler Car rental question from Seattle to Whistler
Posted: Wed February 20, 2008 01:20 PM UTC
Has anyone rented a car at Seattle and drove to Whistler? I understand that some car rental companies may not permit rentals to be taken either into Canada, or as far as Whistler. I currently hold several reservations with a few companies, one, I forget which, states that rentals if taken to Canada can only be taken as far as Vancouver. So I was wondering, does anyone know which car rental companies in Seattle permit their rental cars to be taken as far as Whistler? Or, which companies forbid taking their cars across the border? Has this even been a concern to anyone? Thank you for your help.

Whistler When to get married in Whistler in winter?
Posted: Mon January 28, 2008 01:14 PM UTC
We're planning on getting married outdoors (possibly at Edgewater Lodge) in 2009. Want to do it in the snowy season, so can combine skiing as a honeymoon.

Question is - when do you think would be a good month to do it? Ideally want it as bright and sunny as possible (don't much fancy a face full of blizzard when exchanging our vows!) and somewhen there's not too many crowds either. And cheap. And when the temperatures aren't arctic.

Am I asking the impossible?!?! Or is there a two week slot anywhere that might tick most or all of those boxes?

Thanks :o)

Whistler Need babysitter or nursery at Whistler
Posted: Sat January 19, 2008 10:20 PM UTC
We are visiting Whistler on Feb. 3rd for 10 days and we may need to hire a babysitter to take care of our 6 year old daughter who does not like to ski and is already warning us that she won't try again this year!!!! Anyone knows a reliable babysitter to take care of her at the hotel while we ski? Which is the average cost? Child Care at Whistler told me that they accept children up to 48 months only. I'm not sure if I can register my daughter for the ski school and they would allow her to stay indoors without skiing. Additionally, our native language is Spanish but she understand English fairly well. Thanks for your help.

Whistler First trip to Whistler - Need direction please
Posted: Sun December 16, 2007 10:33 PM UTC
My wife and I want to plan our first trip to Whistler with a few friends. I will be skiing, and she's going to check out some Yoga studios around town.

I don't know anyone who has been there before, so I don't know much.

We are looking for convenience. Meaning, we want to be walking distance to ski lifts (if not ski in / ski out), and a very close walk to restaurants and shops.

Are there different mountains and/or villages in Whistler? If so, which do we want to stay at to get the quintessential Whistler experience?

Many thanks and happy holidays!

Whistler When is the weather best for skiing at Whistler?
Posted: Wed September 26, 2007 08:55 PM UTC
I understand the ski season is from about Nov. to April, but what I'd like to know is when is the best time to come when it's least likely to rain during the ski season? I can understand that do to Whistler's location, it can rain at any time during the ski season, but is there a period when the odds are favorable for not raining? Can anyone offer any suggestions? Thanks.
