I will arriving at Calgary airport mid afternoon and need to get from the airport to Edmonton and then back to downtown Calgary later that week and need to know which is the best method of transport to do this.

i'm moving from a small town in ontario to calgary for a summer co-op/internship between may 29 & sept 1, and my program has me living on the residences of mount royal college.
since it is a college area, i'm hoping there's good nightlife nearby, and some malls/grocery stores too.. but the college seems to be in the *downtown* area.. so does this theory still apply?
if anyone could give me some tips before i fly out, it'd be a nice help!

My hubby a chemical engineer by profession is planning to visit calgary this month on 20th for searching a job.My question is,will the bosses be around or would they have left for a vacation.Hope he is not coming at a wrong time or month of the year.

Hi all: Can anyone recommend a place for short term housing? My 2 kids will be attending Mount Royal college this summer from July 3rd. to Aug. 4th. for a summer music camp. My wife and "100% litter trained non shedding Bichon" will be accompanying them. Is there a particular area that we should stay away from? I have tentatively booked them into a hotel suite, although I would like to get into a short term apartment as the costs for the hotel is very expensive. We could rent for a month and then stay in a hotel for the week of August. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I will be bringing them up from Vancouver, BC.

I think I might've asked this before, but maybe in the Edmonton forum.
Anyways, I'm wondering if there is any car rental companies that would rent cards to 19 year olds. I am thinking about making a trip to Calgary, Red Deer etc, and I would like to ideally be able to rent a car. I know companies in Ontario only rent to those 21 and older, so I'm wondering if its the same in Alberta.

Well, i shall be flying into calgary in about 3 weeks time from the UK to your lovely city. my question is, that i am getting picked up by a friend and dont want her waiting hours for me, has any non north americas flown into calgary and how long it takes to get through customs and pick baggae up, so i can try and give a time to pick me up. I should get in around 9pm!

In Victoria and Vancouver, they have special events called Dine Around [City Name]. For a period of about two weeks, a bunch of restaurants offer discounted three-course meals. Usually, each restaurant offers a $15, $25 and $35 menu, with two or three choices for each course. Is there anything similar in Calgary?

Hello, Well,am about to leave for Calgary from Dubai !! Next March-Apr and Id be very grateful for any advice from all you calgary veteran posters.
- Becasue im starting new, the salery dosn’t seem the best considering its so expensive to live out there, ( 3000 can$ p.m)? -would that be enough to live on and save a little money ?
-first of all !! Accommodation – I would like to rent a room or share accommodation on monthly basis with reasonable prices “400-up to 900 can$ p/m“ and within easy walking distance from the crossroads of the 17 Ave SW with 2 St Sw . close to some central park and the 13 avenue park ..-the closer the better- how about that area,is it easy to get a vacant rental –anyone has a room or need a sharing tenant – I m single –30yr clean – nosmoker – friendly, easygoing and highly organized

Is that area to condiered “commercial or residential “ and is it “safe” for late walking home? and do you have malls , supermarket .. restaurants or groceries nearby??

-Having - temporarily work permit – and residency based on it - plus international driving license – does it allow me to buy a car and register it in my name ? and Is that part of the town included within the paid parking zone? say with a budget of “3000-3500 can$ “ do you get a drivable car that drives you around “with an AC ofcourse”!??

- Am an avid outdoors and chess fan .. Is there a club or coffeeshop for chess people ? and what outdoors do you do ? – i like biking and swimming!-

- Am taking my laptop and it has a builtin wifi . Is there any pubic hotspot “free wifi internet access ”sort of malls or parks close by or you should pay for using it?

Is the weather as cold as they say? How about March ? I cant compare it with dubai difinitly where its rarely drop below twenty celsius but just how bad is it in Calgary ?;-)

In Mid-March I am planning on driving (slowly) from from Calgary to Baja in an old Dodge Camper and am looking for:

1. any advice on the best way - assume it is over to Vancouver and then down the coast. A little worried about road conditions. No 4 wheel drive on this baby.
