Calgary wireless cafes and also other info
Posted: Tue July 15, 2008 01:44 AM UTC
Hi VT'rs - especially Calgarians - love your town and stampede,

Would really appreciate some cool suggestions for wireless cafes that are not all student oriented..... also, after having my friend's kids crawl all over me in the last few days (they're awesome) - I'm in need of a great massage - any suggestions for places in/near downtown with great RMT's?

Thanks and any other suggestions of 'must do's welcome :-)

Calgary Public transportation cross border
Posted: Fri April 4, 2008 01:58 AM UTC
Am I to assume from reading one of the other entries that there is not any public transportation connecting Amtrak service in northern Montana with destinations in Alberta, Canada? I had high hopes of taking the train from Maine to Montana and then connecting by bus or wagontrain??? to Canada...

Posted: Tue February 19, 2008 11:04 AM UTC
Our first stop on a round the world trip is Calgary.. Backpacking none-the-less on a budget of £30 per day ($60). Looking for suitable budget accomodation (hostels/motels/B&B) that is clean, friendly and good loaction. Any suggestions? Ideally not the club 18-30's atmosphere, as we are ages 25 and 28 (couple)..

Any must-see sights, unmissable attractions?

Calgary Lunches Near the University
Posted: Fri October 5, 2007 09:42 PM UTC
Can anyone suggest locations for lunch *near* the university? We usually use public transport to go out for lunch after class on Friday, and we're running out of ideas. Restaurants MUST have vegetarian options and should be accessible by either C-Train (from University station) or one of the following busses: 9, 72, 73, 20, 19, 119 in less than thirty minutes. We prefer locally owned restaurants rather than chains.

Calgary CALGARY AND BANFF - THINGS TO DO IN ONE DAY
Posted: Tue September 4, 2007 12:58 PM UTC
My wife and I are on tour in October and our tour company is leaving us two elderly travellers to our own devices for one day at these two places. Please tell us how best to enjoy our very brief stay taking into account that my wife can't walk very far. Our interests are good food, wine, theatre, shopping if there are plenty of resting places. Are there any day bus trips worth doing ?

Thanks folks

Calgary Ristorante
Posted: Mon August 20, 2007 12:02 AM UTC
I am looking for a restaurant where I can take some friends to thank them for helping me move. Unfortunately at the time I will be detoxing (and I'm a vegetarian) so it needs to be a place that can accommodate (most of... I'm realistic here) my dietary restrictions. I was thinking Sultan's Tent but it's a bit pricey for a student who is treating three friends. My budget is about $25 per person. Indian and Middle Eastern restaurants are usually decent when I'm detoxing... can anyone suggest one/a few options? Nothing too ghetto please (like, no all-you-can-eat Indian lunch buffets!) We're going to go out the day after I get back, so I won't have time to look around myself.

Calgary Rifting on Bow River
Posted: Mon August 13, 2007 12:52 AM UTC
Hello everyone from Calgary, recently I love rifting on the Bow River from Bonness to PEI but I would like to go beyond this path. I know the city had blocked between the Zoo and Nose Creek because there is a weir and lot of people got drowned. I did a few reseach that you can pass that weir by going to the right (south) bank where there is a portage across the dam, but I don't know exactly where is the right (south) Bank? Also if any one had go beyond the zoo and sail down to fish creek area, could you tell me how was the condition ( is it very tough or is it a easy path and how long is going to take 2-4 hours?? Actually I don't really need to start rigth pass the weir but I need to know after that weir another place that I can park the car and easy to get my boat down to the river? If anyone could tell me the exactly address that would be great. Thanks!!!

Calgary Bus service from Montana?
Posted: Wed July 18, 2007 11:37 PM UTC
Hi,

When I look at the route map on Greyhound's official site, I see a route from Great Falls to Calgary. Yet when I try to buy a ticket between the two points, the only trips have me going through Seattle and Vancouver. The man at the Greyhound ticket counter in my city sees the same thing.

Naturally, I think the coast is a bit far out of the way. Does a bus route exist from Montana to Alberta anymore?

Calgary Calgary + Lake Louise and Banff or Alaska?? Please help me!!
Posted: Wed June 20, 2007 08:02 PM UTC
Hello everybody!

I have some Miles to be spent until October, so I decided going to U.S. or Canada September next. However, I’m between 2 places, and I’d like to hear from you what would be the best option in your opinion: Alaska or Canadian Rocky Mountains (Calgary and Lake Louise from Calgary). Has anybody gone to both places to help me deciding the best place to go?

Thank you very much everybody!

I am considering a Westjet flight Vancouver to Calgary that is scheduled to arrive at 1.47pm.
Are the flights usually on time? How long does collection of luggage take at Calgary airport?
I need to join a local tour that departs at 3pm from the airport. Will I be able to make it?

Calgary Road Trip to Calgary from Toronto
Posted: Mon May 21, 2007 11:51 PM UTC
Some friends and I are planning a road trip to the Calgary Stampede in July. I googled the route which told me the drive would be about 34hours, but when I booked our campsite, the woman told me she used to make the drive in 20 hours. Has anyone else made this trek? I would really appreciate it if you could let me know how long it took you and what to expect. We are planning on traveling through Canada on our way there and through the States on our way back.
Thanks so much!
